mujhe toh story main philosophical error hi pehle dikhta hai... ki Alien species 'shinto' realize that humans lie and deceit, and they have a problem with it - so they plan to invade the species by lying and deceiving humans into believing in wrong science. yeh kya bakchodi thi - I couldn't get any answers to this throughout the season. even before the so called realisation, when the shintos removed the person from the cctv footage, wasn't that part of deceit and lying? and what was the whole thing about messing with human science & scientist, killing them, making them commit suicide or making them stop their work - even before realising that humans lie - what the fuck was that all about? whose plan was that, the chinese woman's? when she contacted them in the first place, she had already lost all hope in humanity, did she never tell them anything about us or her disappointment in humanity's actions? Assuming if the lying, cheating, deceiving, killing human scientists was all part of the chinese woman's plan and not the Aliens' couldn't they still see what she was upto ? why was she proud to be a successful scientist and also wanting to kill all human science? and if ALL that was the Aliens' plan & doing, then they had been lying and cheating from the get go, were threatening human science and having scientist killed for no given reason first and later pretended to learn about this SO FUCKING NOVEL concept of LYING from a children's fairytale book and decided that was good enough reason to now turn on humans and invade them. What the fuck was the massive ship about?! (perhaps that's a rant for another day)
Your observations are multiple level deeper than we even justify talking on the podcast. Wholeheartedly agree with you how the entire point of deception and lies is terribly executed or conjured up (even in the novel?)

I think u xplained the three body problem wrong. U said a planet or body in a three sun system. If i am not wrong its three bodies that are bind with each other through gravitational pull and rotating each other.in this case it become very hard to predict their path.
they will have to answer too many questions in season 2...
