We’d be in the basement playing this for HOURS, while your best friend’s older brother who lived in the basement was blasting “I’m Bad” by LL Cool J. This game was LIFE!
Are there anyone on TH-cam old enough to remember this game when it was in its prime??
For sure! I remember I couldn't get past the great tiger for the longest time! Magically flying around the ring move fucked me up everytime. Finally beat him then it was bald bull that I couldn't beat for years lol.
Mike Tyson: "Great fighting!! You were tough, Mac!! I've never seen such finger speed before."
Mac: "Well.....your girl did."
*Mac proceeds to exit ring with shades on*
This game provided me with countless hours of entertainment!
***** I had the original. I'll bet a copy in good condition fetches a handsome chunk of change. If only we could take the knowledge that we have now back to our childhoods. We'd be filthy rich. "sigh"
Vlad Tepes
I had the original too and then my sister stole it along with our toploader NES and pawned it.
Vlad Tepes i've been trying to get my Mike Tyson's Punch Out box signed by Mike Tyson for the past couple years. i can't wait until i finally get it. will be on display for sure!
Vlad Tepes If I knew then what I know now, My G1 Optimus Prime never would have come out of the box!
One of my favorite touches to this is that they have Mario as a referee
Which is so cool to me!!
This was just Nintendo reminding us that we're still playing an official Nintendo-made game and not an independent product licensed by Nintendo.
That's the sole purpose of Mario being the referee here for me. Thank god that's gone from the next games.
I can’t believe I watched this whole thing. Great to relive my childhood! Thanks for posting!
no problem. i'm glad you enjoyed the play through. this was the first time i had ever completed the entire game without having to continue. i was definitely feelings the nerves when the Tyson fight started. i can do pretty well in the fight now but back then, i wasn't fully capable of beating Tyson every time
@@BlastGnar I’ve never beaten Mike. I even had the cheat code back in the day. I could still get to him through the game, but even with the code, I never beat him. So, you’re better than me! 👍🏻
@@jimiwilson4322 he's definitely not impossible. he has phases. hardest phase is first 130 in the round because those are all one hit knock downs. his first punch always comes at 6 seconds then it's sort of a rhythm after that.
This is such a Classic game !
I can only imagine how much fun this must have been in 1987. For certain a special game.
I lived and breathed this game when it came out and I was a kid. Beating the game just consumed me. Finally beating Tyson game me a sense of accomplishment in a video game that has yet to be matched. This game was crazy hard. Thanks for the video bud, definitely a trip down memory lane :)
EA nowadays seeks to give players that sense of pride and accomplishment.
This legit brought back memories of me and my best friend staying up all night in the late 80s fueled by coke and pizza trying to beat Kid Dynamite.........such good times.
i remember the first time i got to Tyson and i saw the code. i couldn't find paper or a pen so i wrote the code down on something similar to an etch a sketch. it was blue and had a stylus. you erased it by sliding this button on the bottom across the bottom. i remember looking for the code only to find my brother playing with that tablet thing and the code was gone forever. heartbreaking for a 10 year old. haha
Happy 50th Birthday Mike Tyson!
Don Flamenco looks like Adam Sandler lol
first time he's nothing and I don't get how he or Honda or bull have 2 bouts.
Wow that intro alone took me instantly back to 1987. I got to pick one game from Woolworths. I picked Mike Tysons Punchout and my brother picked The Legend of Zelda in the Golden cartridge, yup the very same cartridge I flew against the wall because it froze and deleted my save right in front of Ganons door. I miss the 80's.......not really.
this one was one of the few games i decided to get for my birthday. i got two games a year if i was lucky. i would get one for christmas and one for my birthday. for my birthday, i chose Where's Waldo? and for christmas, i chose Mike Tyson's Punchout. honestly, i still love Where's Waldo to this day. haha
Both games got played to the point I had to take out and blow and start again😂😂😂
Nothing was more satisfying than landing that super punch 🥊
Oh the sounds the graphics the boxers the challenge and the memories of playing this legendary classic game in my basement with friends was awesome!!!
To win by decision against Tyson is an accomplishment in itself. Good job.
Fuck that, I won via TKO in the first round...of course, my game decided to be a dick/sore loser/jackass/asshole/cheater/butt hurt troll and cheat me out of that, but, damn it, I still won the fight and that is all that matters in the end.
Pure nostalgia of being a kid in the late 80s earlier 90s so fun!🥊📺🎮
Tip for Tyson.
When he swings, counter with two punches to the same side that he swings on for more damage. For example. If he swings with his Right, (your left) hit him with 2 lefts for 50% more damage.
This is how you can TKO him in round 1.
Just picked this backup again and a Nintendo Gen 1 and after 30 plus years I am back playing
That right jab from Popinski got me every time.
This is my favorite game of all time. My Dad use to rent it for me every Saturday morning if I stayed out of trouble and made good grades. So in 1988, we would go rent this game from the local furniture store. I was a natural at this game and only has trouble getting past Super Macho Man, that swinging heymaker was tough to defend. I never had any trouble from Tyson.
Whoever's playing this is GOOD.
thank you! all the videos on my channel are played by me using real cartridges and real hardware. i appreciate the compliment!
This brings back so many memories of my childhood. I love the music. Appreciate how you actually played through the game, unlike all the speed runs I've watched. Brings me back to reading the Nintendo Power magazine to get an edge. I remember Soda Popsinski gave me such a hard time. However, I did beat Tyson after SOOO many attempts... lol I thought I was the king of the world at the time. What a great time to grow up. Thank you for the memories!
One of the best NES games ever made.
Now available for purchase on the Mini NES, likely available in electronic stores, and game shops.
I honestly dont think graphics could improve it. They used what they had on nes perfectly in this game
believe it or not my dad found out the code to fight tyson from paying a kid 1$ to tell him
Angela Romero That's awesome lol! My dad had a party at his house and invited kids over to watch him beat Mike Tyson.
I just sat through that entire video. I played that for hours back in the day. So cool to watch the game again.
One of the greatest games ever made
lol thanks! this recording was the first time i was able to run through the game without losing a match. i was just on edge as you were!
Interesting that after all these years, it's still seemingly difficult for some to flawlessly defeat Tyson with a memorized pattern.
While he is tougher than the rest, I wouldn't be surprised if intimidation plays a role in this. 8 bit Tyson is still making grown men shake in their boots. Haha.
for some reason i get jumpy with the dodging instead of waiting for the right time lmao
The last fight with Tyson was great!! I'm looking for a NES as we speak! Thanks for taking me back down memory lane!!!! GREAT VIDEO!
I hadn't seen this game in years, but seeing how hard Tyson was to beat brought back agonizing memories as a child. 🤣🤣 That epic battle you had with him on this video was badass. I was expecting a typical run thru of domination from the user just for the sake of a quick YT video. That reminded me of what made this game so great. It was difficult at at times! For a kid or even adult to learn every fighters patterns and be quick enough to react in time took practice for sure. That Tyson fight was entertaining as hell 🤣🤣
28:40 Growing up I always thought this newspaper clip was conveying that Little Mac is Mario's son.
I never played Punch Out till just about yesterday while I was visiting my mom. Piston gave me a hard time, his combo really got me but I won some how.
Then I got to King Hippo & man... I couldn't hit that guy once. He kicked my ass.
But I had fun trying the game for the first time, I gotta try the other games when I can. I enjoy watching other people play though.
yea learning each fighter's pattern can take a while. King Hippo is probably the most unique fight since it's the only one that a TKO is impossible. when you knock him down once, he never gets up. did you play the game on the NES classic or original hardware? i ask because the NES classic seems to have a little bit of input lag and with a game like this, you really need your inputs to be tight. anyway, i'm glad you watched my video. thanks!
Your welcome & yeah I played Punch Out on the NES Classic, cute lil system. Didn't know there was imput lag but I still had had a blast with the game.
GnarBlast Since I play on Nintendo Switch as it came out yesterday
I had played arcade version and wii
But never this version and I don’t know how to star punch this makes it harder to KO or TKO great tiger
Any tips because I’ve been searching for ages
John Moo when hippo does a punch on his right side do an upper cut before he punches then do a bunch of jabs to deal damage oh and one knock down lets you win
3DAnime :P I know I’m a year late, but you press “+” to do a star punch if you haven’t found out yet.
I loved this game as a kid, but I'm pretty old so this was cutting edge new stuff for back then, you are very good at this
DAMN!! Watching takes back to my childhood. Nothing but love for the old NES Games!!
Wow! This brought back so many memories of when I would play this as a kid. I remember all of these guys like it was yesterday and all of their little hints that they were about to punch. I only ever made it to Mr. Sandman. I've never even seen this 'Super Macho Man' character before. Thanks!
26:45 Here, when Macho Man is setting up his one-hit Spin-Punch, it's possible to cancel it, if you keep punching him. Of course it doesn't work every time. I believe you can also gain stars doing this.
thanks for sharing! i love all of the memories that this game evokes. I made it to Tyson but never beat him, so it is good to see it happen.
This brought back so many memories! I loved watching the Tyson fight.
None of my friends played Punch-Out!! before. I'm the only one who was a fan of this series, so when Little Mac was announced for Smash Bros, it was a very pleasant surprise.
Needless to say, it's super fun to own them with a character they don't even know much about.
If the 3DS is foreshadowing how good the Wii U one will be - I think it will definitely be the best Smash yet.
cool! i can't wait. i pre ordered the bundle with the controller and gamecube adapter
Mario: The winner is Mac!!
Mike Tyson: *my disappointment is immeasurable and my day is ruined*
Thank you for this, brought back a lot of memories..
Nicely done!! Playing this on the nes classic. Maaan this was my childhood
thanks! i have since gotten way better at the game. i still like this play through because it was the first time i had finished the game without losing to any fighters. i remember being very excited when i beat tyson
Came here to finally learn how to beat mr. Sandman.
ΤαηgγDαddγ Lεmoηβox
To beat great tiger in phase 1, try hitting him while he’s blocking then block and counter attack.
For phase 2 and 3, hit him before he does his uppercuts to get stars. After you get 3 stars, dodge his uppercuts then star punch him everytime.
18:08 Bald Bull out here looking like, -if saved by the bell was a person-.
Thanks for posting this. I never could get past that guy!
Thanks for the memories. I never got past Bald Bull the 2nd time.
Jason Osborne Ring King was Fun, i wished i learned exactly how to knock people out of the ring. I only did it a few times but it was amazing lol
Anyone who grew up in the 80’s had this game or at least played it. I was addicted to it.
Man! I almost cry.
Mac vs Tyson!!! That was the hell of a fight dude. Great ending!!!!
Watching this now (I'm 43 so I do remember this game during it's prime. Good times😁) this game was one of the 1st to have a "boss rush" of sorts; with Mr. Sandman (the final stage boss), Super Macho Man (the next to last boss), and then Tyson (the final boss). But that is only my look at it.
Damn' can't even recall how far i got. Can't quite rememba back that far 90 million years ago.
Sheesh i can't barely rememba anything, i kno i ain't get too far tho lol wait... where u still playin this at ??? 😳
Aaah wickedness, gettin yo ol'skoo jam on 👍 i ain't played none that OG stuff since....... i was a lil shit. I been eyein up a few sega & nintendo consoles on eBay tho, can't decide i want em both :)
I love it doe, tha old ass graphics and shitty effects haha too old wit mynes and ofosho, come on over and get dat ass smoked lol
still Better than pacquiao vs mayweather!!!
Pokemon Trainer 666 screw you. Mayweather is more gay than pacquiao. He literally gives hugs for goodness sake!
Was so addicted to this game back in the day! Never could beat mike tho!
I remembered the first time I beat the game, by decision may I add, no TKO or KO, no no no.... I had memorized every single punch timing of the first round!!! I had every second timed, of course I now remember the first one only.... the 006 seconds one!!! the first killer punch!!! This game truly brings some of the best memories of my childhood, a definite NES classic
Looking forward to seeing. I'm so glad us old school can beat the games and no cheats. back before the net, word of mouth and find out on your own codes. we lived in the best of times. I'm not a gamer but I kept the nes snes and 64 and my favorite games. time to time it's a walk down Memory Lane and it does pass time. I don't know I feel games meant more back then. beating and no cheats. no people let a game run their lives. just play for fun we understand you win some you lose some. all it is. take care keep posting the gold. contra, Mario Bros , life force. good times
thanks for watching! all of my stuff is recorded using the original cartridges and real hardware. no emulators or any cheats are used. i have a pretty decent chunk of the nes library no death'd on my channel at the moment. i have contra, super c, mario bros, ninja gaiden, and teenage mutant ninja turtles 1, all no death in my playlist. i hope you look to my channel for some nostalgia. that's one of the main reasons why i started doing play throughs. i liked relearning the old games. in my opinion, not too many modern games have the same feeling of accomplishment. there are some like Super Meat Boy, Cuphead, stuff like that that has that old school feel but nothing beats the original!
Awesome video I love this game!! One of my all time favorites
Games like these motivate you to FIGHT, no matter how low the chances look for you to win.
Most of the opponents are much bigger and seem to be stronger, but you fight anyway, that's how real life is supposed to be too, FIGHT, no matter how big the obstacle is/looks like.
I never get past over soda popinski!
Yeah, neither did my cousin (RIP). Soda was like the barometer to where you were as a fighter up to that point in the game.
Jack Winsper Got his brains blown out while serving in the military. Not sure of the details, but it turned out during a police investigation that it wasn't suicide as previously suspected (entry wound was in the back of his head, not the front) and may have been the result of him actually trying to foil a drug-dealing operation within his own barracks. My aunt and uncle ended up getting a quarter million-dollar settlement out of it, too. They probably would rather have their son back instead:::sigh:::
ad221282. I knocked Soda Popinski down twice, and I had low health. He then got up at 9, and hit me. I spammed the A & B buttons but I couldn't get up. *That Russian B*stard.*
I was 10 when this game came out. I was always able to get to Soda Popinski regularly and to Tyson a few times. He always beat my ass.
This game brings back so many memories! took a while but once I could beat Tyson it was easy. Love this game!
One of my favorite games in my childhood, if you could go back in time. Greetings from village Dulene , bella Serbia
Played this classic this morning 🔥 awesome game
That knockdown song brings back such memories
It's hilarious how the worst fighter "Glass Joe" is from France lololol
I've always had problems with Sandman... I beat everybody else easy , but him.
@@APOCALYPSE_X-MEN Sandman is predictable. Macho Man is not. Sandman has 13 jabs and only the fifth is unpredictable. He then does hooks similar to Bald Bull. Land a hit in the face and three in the gut. He then does the Midnight Express/Dreamland uppercuts. Dodge left. Hit him like 10 times. Rinse and repeat. Super Macho Man is completely random (no telling how many uppercuts and how many hooks he will do). His first Clothesline is difficult to dodge. The second one you likely will dodge one more than necessary
That was pretty cool bro. Man when I was a kid playing this game I never made it to tyson. I had the code to fight him but always got my ass kicked lol. U made it look easy. Nice vid!!
this was my favorite NES game!!
SUPER MARIO IS THE REFEREE
He is. When you fight with Don Flamenco, he says that referee Mario has a nice hair
The last fight had me on the edge of my seat like a real fight. I wasn't sure whether you were pranking us with the "No Death Playthrough" title of the video. That was a really close fight. Could have gone either way. Congrats! lol
epic. man love this game. nothing ever came close since.
LMAO...I'm yelling GET UP @ 31:58 when u fought Tyson...Mario was counting fast as hell...one of the toughest bosses on a game....thanx 4 the good video memories!!!!
Great memories, give me the chills. Great job kid, coming from a 32 year old gamer.
Give us a sec to read the names of the boxers at least. FFS.
Glass Joe
Von Kaiser
Piston Honda
Don Flamenco
King Hippo
Great tiger
Bald bull
Soda popinski
Mr.Sandman
Super Macho Man
And, Mike Tyson.
I have just added you to the top 3 heroes in my life. In this order; 1)My mother 2)MLK Jr. 3)GnarBlast. lol Thank you.
Samuel O'Banner Mines is 1. God 2.Jesus Christ & my mom honorable mention MLK & Malcolm X
This game is a pure masterpiece.
This game provided me with many hours of rage and frustration. But i still loved it.
"No death"
HOLY SH*T HE DIES!?
toonmariorpg the rest of my videos are titled "no death" and i thought it would be weird to title this one differently because i'm going for a uniform sort of look with my videos.
Nigga stole my bike!
This was the game Kevin Keene was playing in "Captain N The Game Master" before he and his dog, Duke, got warped to "Video Land" by "The Ultimate Warp Zone" in the first episode of said show. He was at the "King Hippo" fight as a matter of fact.
That fight against Mike at the end was epic!!!
No death? Don't you mean no loss?
this is part of a series of videos i was doing where i would play an NES game without dying. it seemed weird to title this one differently
Of course it doesn't. I'm just saying: you don't die after losing a boxing match!
That Tyson bout had me on the edge of my seat! I was too young/too much if a n00b to get past glass joe when this was out....
Awesome run. That Tyson fight was close lol. I really thought you were gonna stay down when you got knocked down, you didnt even try to get up till the count of 9, I was like "What is he doing?!" lol.
This game really fights back against racial stereotypes.
uncle ruckus made it. seriously though. it seemed nintendo back in the day was scared to be controversial or racist. yet every character was a stereotype in this game.
Because everyone isn't completely sick of hearing about how everything is a racial stereotype.
funny to hear adults having the problems I had when I was 8.
Can't beat hippo. now I can't beat bull. now sodapop then sandman. lol noobs.
I think this game invented wiff counters
I love that it was getting dramatic there at the end. It wasn't just a perfect sweep.
this was the first time i beat the game without losing a fight. i was getting so nervous near the end. lol
I had a dream last night that they re-did this game. This time is was a 1v1 game and you could choose any of the characters.
Graphics were similar.
My favorite video game of all time.
I would get up at 4 in the morning, two hours before I had to get up for school, just to play this game. It's a classic.
Yup, I thought I was being all stealthy but those old ass tv's with that hiss when you turn it on. Busted! My moms "turn off that damn Nintendo!"
When I was little I would play this all the time but I could never get pass mike Tyson
Luckily, this game is now available on the Mini NES... Basically the NES with around 20-30 of the top games for the time period of the console... And Punch-Out is one of the games it comes with.
Best money i ever spent, tbvh... I also got the first Zelda game, Castlevania, all the good shit.
It's still the best boxing game ever made
Me too lol
