This is a cool, subtle hint at Dimentio's true nature…in addition to his bouncy but somewhat ominous music motif, he just drove Fracktail insane for kicks! Just to make things interesting! Poor Fracktail was perfectly willing to give you the Pure Heart until Dimentio made him fight you and Fracktail regains just enough sanity to apologize before he DIES for attacking you! Looking back after you figure it out, it really cements how twisted, sadistic, and psychopathic he is as a villain… Rated E for Everyone!

No to say they're bad villains, but Dimentio's nearly just as successful and arguably more diabolical in his ambitions and plans than they are. Sure, Fawful conquered two kingdoms and the Shadow Queen tries to conquer the world, Dimentio nearly destroyed and remade the entire multiverse for him to rule. Yeah, I think he deserves some recognition in that regard.
One of my complaints with the game is that I wish the pixels had more dialogue to show their personality more. We never really had a chance to connect with them. Other than that I do think it's a great game

Of course, that's not quite how things went, but I can't blame the ancient people for not foreseeing the arrival of a dimension shifting magical clown.

The entire boss battle I was like "Aren't you gonna reference Hooktail from the Thousand Year Door, Chuggaa???" I bet Fracktail was Hooktail's computer:P
