@@Sletchman bellsprout is just a worse version of poliwag for this reason. Both get a special boosting move, but poliwag gets the better one and also a better STAB move from Misty. @@Dragonite43 No it's not, and I'm tired of seeing this. FRLG has split Special stats, Dark and Steel types, a post-game, later gen moves, and so much more that _isn't in_ generation one. When people say "bug-free gen one," they mean generation one on the Game Boy, not the remakes. They're not the same, and I wish this terrible sentiment wouldn't be so popular.
I just realized Surge is an American Lieutenant living in a port city. Exactly where you'll find American military in Japan. I wonder if there's a base close to Vermillion City.
It'd likely top Gastly in the pre-evolved list. I don't knwo whose dumb idea was to give Abra teleport as an only learnable move by leveling up. It only makes this Pokemon quite difficult to catch.
I think I have run into Pidgey while surfing on Route 21. IIRC, when you Surf along a shoreline, the game takes encounter data from the land tiles on the left, but it uses the encounter rate from the sea tiles on the right (so, Pokemon can spawn anywhere on the sea). In MissingNo's case, glitched Pokemon appear because of the location data your name fills. I don't think Cinnabar Island or Routes 19 and 20 have land encounters normally, so that's probably why junk data can be used there. But since Route 21 already has an encounter table for Pokemon on land, it must use the Route 21 encounters. Someone call me out if I got any of that wrong.
I'd love it if some time you made a video or wrote a guide on how you do these runs so we can do our own :) like showing where particular items and TMs/HMs are, which trainers you usually choose to fight, how you go through Rock Tunnel or Silph Co etc.

I feel like this run could've been a little bit quicker with a quick battle against the Junior Trainer in Brock's gym instead of grinding but nice job Drowzee. Always have a Hypno in my Gen 1 party.
I love watching these runs, sheerly because of the perspective and how challenging some of the pokemon can be. Like, competetively speaking in Gen 1, Drowzee is bad. Like it is REALLY bad. But, when looking at it from a Solo running perspective, yea it makes a lot of sense actually that it would do well. Ok yea, it doesnt start with Confusion, yea, its gonna be slow because of that. But honestly when you look at what is above it in the ranking, Tentacool potentially wins faster because of Wrap. Poliwag i think started with Bubble? And Gastly, the mad gigachad that it has been, being the only monster who did not really struggle at ALL doing Min Battles and having powerful moves to deal with Rock Types early on, I think this was a really good showing for Drowzee. I love watching these videos, and being able to listen to them too Jrose. I truly hope you take great care in making these, and that you always pour your heart into them. I love your jokes and humor, and it is always entertaining and heart warming to see you have a great time with a run. And sometimes, seeing your impossible series too where you do suffer a bit, but you always try to put a positive spin on them. Like, oh I dont know, the Caterpie run where you went through 3 freaking games. Cannot begin to imagine how much time that one took.
For playing against the AI, it's almost better to use Drowzee/Hypno over the Abra line. Not only is it strong enough to one-shot everything you'd use Alakazam for, it beats Alakazam in a 1v1 due to its Attack stat and resistance to Psychic. Not to mention you have to trade Kadabra to even get Alakazam in the first place so most players would be stuck with Kadabra which favors Hypno even more. Against players, yeah, Abra line every time. Against the AI in Gen 1 though Drowzee/Hypno just do what you need better.
I'm not sure if you ever considered it but I would love to see runs where you let the pokemon evolve. Maybe something for when you are done with them all?

Now while I can't say for sure, I think you've gone in the intended gym order about 5 to 8 times.
I'm glad Drowzee did well. I was always partial to the Drowzee/Hypno line
MDB will totally love this playthrough
ahh the good ol’ bipedal chocolate elephant man, or poor man’s abra
For playing against the AI, it's almost better to use Drowzee/Hypno over the Abra line. Not only is it strong enough to one-shot everything you'd use Alakazam for, it beats Alakazam in a 1v1 due to its Attack stat and resistance to Psychic. Not to mention you have to trade Kadabra to even get Alakazam in the first place so most players would be stuck with Kadabra which favors Hypno even more.
Against players, yeah, Abra line every time. Against the AI in Gen 1 though Drowzee/Hypno just do what you need better.
@@ForeverLaxx i more so called him that because i didn’t have ppl to trade with to eventually get alakazam 😭 😂 i appreciate your analysis though !
Jrose bro… I LOVE YOU!!! DONT EVER LET ANYONE TELL YOU YOU AINT THE MAN!!!!
Jrose did my favorite Pokémon for my birthday month this year!
Surprising run! Keep them up!
I really like your narration. You're a funny guy
another Jrose vid, another sponsor
First video of me requesting Jrose to attempt the ironmon challenge
I'm not sure if you ever considered it but I would love to see runs where you let the pokemon evolve. Maybe something for when you are done with them all?
The last time I was this early I was a level 5 Chatmander in Pallet Town
I was getting drowzee, but this'll keep me awake!
You just know Mandjtv was bricked up watching his beloved Drowzee
I tried to use the unwatched tab on your channel Jrose. I haven't not watched a single one of your videos. Love
