  • Pregnancy core work - Learn how to properly engage the core in pregnancy! The question I get most often is "isn't it dangerous to squeeze your core during pregnancy?" And the answer is...nope! In fact, it's very important to keep the core muscles connected throughout your entire pregnancy using this belly breathing. This is one of the key breathing exercises for pregnant women.

    Easiest video to follow on the subject! Thank you. Is there a clear and easy way to show how this can be incorporated into daily movements that we do like picking something up, getting up or movements we should be mindful of? Thanks!

    How often and for how long should this be done throughout pregnancy for it to actually help and strengthen?

    • @KendraFitzgerald

      Great question! Repetitions of these breaths are so good for staying connected to the deep core. For many of my clients (and for myself in my pregnancies!) I suggested practicing this breathing 20-40 times a day. Personally, after doing it consistently, I could still feel some (not all!) core connection all the way up to the day I gave birth. Pretty awesome. If you'd like more info on pregnancy workouts, birth and postpartum recovery, my perinatal channel @devotedmamas is going to be expanding soon with a LOT of videos! Hi, if you’re doing this right, should it feel kind of like I’m holding in my stomach on the exhale?

    • @KendraFitzgerald
      @KendraFitzgerald  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, yes! It should feel like a deep core engagement on the exhale (pulling in and up, not pressing out). Hope that helps!

    Is it normal for my tummy to gurgle when I do this?

    • @KendraFitzgerald
      @KendraFitzgerald  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Totally normal! You're lightly compressing your belly, which also lightly compresses your digestive system. A great side effect of this breath is that it also keeps you regular (which is SO welcome in pregnancy!!) ;)

    Hi, will this belly breathing cause contractions in early third trimester...?

    • @divyaathamilmani7854
      @divyaathamilmani7854 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Because I am facing fetal activity especially while doing this

    • @KendraFitzgerald
      @KendraFitzgerald  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Divyaa! Can you tell me more? Are you feeling the baby move when you do this belly breath?

    • @divyaathamilmani7854
      @divyaathamilmani7854 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@KendraFitzgerald yes Kendra, have you faced any similar symptoms while doing this...in my early third trimester now

    • @divyaathamilmani7854
      @divyaathamilmani7854 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Is that normal Kendra? I have been doing this for last 3 days

    • @KendraFitzgerald
      @KendraFitzgerald  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Divyaa, yes! I experienced the same thing. Doing this breath is like giving the baby a hug with your belly, so they will often kick to let you know you're squeezing them (which you're not squeezing them too much, they have plenty of space in there!). This core breath is so good for keeping your core strong all throughout pregnancy, so it's great to continue. Of course, if you have any concerns, make sure you bring it up to your doctor.
