  • Three CF-118 Hornet fighter jets from 409 Squadron of Cold Lake Alberta arrive at Joint-Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam for RIMPAC 2014.
The McDonnell Douglas CF-18 Hornet (official military designation CF-188) is a Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) (formerly Canadian Forces Air Command) fighter aircraft, based on the American McDonnell Douglas F/A-18 Hornet fighter. In 1980, the F/A-18 was selected as the winner of the New Fighter Aircraft competition, and a production order was awarded. The Canadian Forces began receiving the CF-18 in 1982. -en.wikipedia.org/wiki/McDonnel...

Great for us to train in hot tropical wet climates and pacific warfare and anti ship/defensive training

I wish some day that we can get newer jets. People will complain how we are going to pay for them, but it's always like that in Canada. Government looks in Kijiji and can't find anything in their price range

CF-118 does not exist. The Canadian designation is CF-188. Thanks for the video.

Assuming you are American, keep in mind you guys still use the F/A-18 a/b Hornets aswell. You just have a few newer ones with them

Justin Butler That's is true. Regardless of them being a bit old i don't this we have lost any of our CF-188's in combat, so why not use them until they are no longer operational for service. We will need to replace them by 2025, so im hoping we fill the with the SuperHornets, or even the Advanced SuperHornet. I dont think the F-35 would be a good replacement. The Original Legacy Hornets are my favourite plane, so i wish we could keep them around haha.

HydroHornet Hey Hydro, I think this would be a good read for you assuming you haven't seen it.

DarkExes GBouncer Thanks for sharing that, it was a great read. I agree so much with it. F-35's are overpriced, and a bit sketchy on how they will preform. The SuperHornets are tested, and proven effective. I also think that with -40 temp on some parts of Canada that 2 engines are really needed. The SuperHornets are like 90% of the solution for half the price.
