  • Although we're excited to share this bike check with you, firstly we'd like to wish Amaury Pierron a quick and complete recovery from the injuries he sustained at Lenzerheide. This video was filmed before the extent of Amaury's injuries were known, and prior to him undergoing surgery. We hope to see Amaury back on his bike as soon as he's ready.
    Once he's healed up, this will be the bike he'll be on - the Commencal Supreme V5!
    Rider Info: Amaury is a big, powerful rider, so needs a bike built to cope - meaning the largest diameter rotors available, and some stiffer suspension! He weighs approx. 85kg (187lbs), and is around 1.8m (5ft 11in) tall.
    Frame: Commencal Supreme V5
    Fork: Fox 40 Factory - 🤫psi and 🤔tokens
    Shock: Fox DHX2 Factory - 525lbs Spring
    Wheelset: Enve Carbon Prototype Wheelset - 29" front, 27.5" rear
    Rear Tyre: Schwalbe First Ride Prototype - With insert - 26.1-27.6psi (1.8-1.9BAR)
    Front Tyre: Schwalbe First Ride Prototype - No insert - 24.7psi (1.7BAR)
    Brakes: TRP DH-R EVO Gold
    Rotors: TRP 2.3mm Rotors, 220mm front & rear
    Handlebar: Enve M9 Handlebar - 30 Rise - 31.8mm Clamp - 800mm Width
    Headset: Unknown ZS56/ZS56
    Stem: Burgtec Direct Mount Mk3 Stem - 31.8mm Clamp
    Grips: ODI Elite Motion Lock-On Grips
    Saddle: fi'zi:k Gravita Custom
    Shifters: TRP EVO 7
    Rear Mech: TRP DH7
    Chainset: RaceFace Atlas - 165mm cranks, 36t chainring
    Chain: SRAM XX1
    Chain Guide: e*thirteen LG1
    Cassette: TRP 7spd Cassette
    Pedals: HT X3T
    Bike weight: Unknown
    Finishing touches: The Supreme V5 features the option to change the stiffness of the frame by using different bridges within the rear triangle. Amaury tends to run between the Soft and Medium stiffness. The suspension kinematics and idler position can also be modified to get his setup dialed in. His mechanic has added a neat hose/cable holder through the number plate to prevent any unwanted rattling and rubbing!

    I like this thin frame, especially nice to see when most companies are going super thick. Crazy looking saddle.

    Beautiful bike and a great walk through. I love that Enve is showing up on the DH scene. Enve's headquarters is located just a couple of miles from where I live. Great guys and a great company. I hope to see more of their product in world competition. Cheers - M

    That linkage design is so interesting. Any chance Doddy could do a video explaining it? There's lots of stuff out there about horst/dual link but that extra bar between the two makes it so confusing. That would be an awesome video.

    yeah that's one thing that annoyed me about saddles, so many are just to smooth, so myself i
    3d printed my own with steps or ripped as you guys call it, now so much better for holding position

      @tomaskaleta1041 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      that was some time ago, they haven't had these issues in recent years, from what I know. I own a Commencal and it is a great bike, mainly due to perfect geometry. Also, when you look at the frame quality and details in compare to other AL frames, it really stands out.

      @@tomaskaleta1041 Agree. I even own a 2012 Commencal Premier hardtail, and sometimes using (read: shredding) it through a trail route 😁. Man.... the frame is awesome, and for an old hardtail bike that thing is strong as hell

    Is it common for pro downhill riders to use aluminum bikes? Why did Pierron decide this over CF?

    • @hannahtaylor8996
      @hannahtaylor8996 ปีที่แล้ว

      very common. Plus commencal only do aluminium frames. CF is a sales gimmick for the masses. same as full 29er. most use mullet set up.
