how are starting vet school next year at 18? (i assume that age) I'm in America so idk if you are from somewhere different and therefore it works differently. would love to learn how it works in other places! :)
@@gen3708 in the uk you start high school at 11 and end it when you are 16. Then you (if you want to) do a-levels, which is basically college, from 16-18. then you go on to uni or in this case vet school
I’ve wanted to be a veterinarian since i was young and it’s still one of the only things i can see myself doing and actually enjoying but idk if i can mentally or even physically do it. i have really bad anxiety which sometimes leads to depression so i’m worried i won’t be able to handle so much school and responsibility. I might have to resort to becoming a vet tech since it’s less school, less money, and hopefully less stress. It’s incredible that you are able to do this hard schooling while also staying healthy. You said your day felt semi productive after getting up extremely early, exercising, making bread, going out, and doing school work yet i’ve been in my home all day for days at this point lol. Love your videos keep up the great work! Oh btw i’m that 17 year old.
The good thing is, you're at the age where you can figure it out! There is absolutely nothing that says you have to start pre-vet school right after high school. I actually went to college for something else, dropped out, and didn't become a vet tech until I was 19. I had 0 intention of ever becoming a vet because I thought it was too hard. 5 years and tons of in-clinic experience later, I'm starting prevet school now that I'm 100% sure I want to and can handle being a vet. The best way for you to decide is to go work in a clinic and see what it's actually like physically and mentally. Being a technician is a challenge in itself and becoming one prior to becoming a vet will give you an advantage in technical skills and medical knowledge before studying from the Dr point of view!

I’m a senior in high school in the US. I have two offers from Uk vet schools for next year, one at the RVC and the other at Edinburgh. I’m trying my best to get the scores that I need for those :)

I would totally choose Edinburgh. The vet school and city are just magical! Edinburgh was my 1st choice, hoping to do my master there in a few years!! Good luck either way!!

Wow when you got to the part where you were saying that you dont know what to do with your life, I really felt that. Like Im attending college right now in Connecticut, my home state, and Im majoring in Animal Science to become a veterinarian in Large animals. Mainly cattle. But its been extremely challenging for me, especially I know that what you are doing is SO much more challenging than me, and the fact that Im already struggling makes me lose hope. It makes me depressed that getting into vet school is so hard and I feel like im not going to get in. But ive never given up. Im sure you never have either. Im sure you wanted to, but you didnt. Vet School is my dream and a goal that I would love to kick into the net! Im so excited but it scares me that I always feel like im never going to accomplish that goal. But seeing this video and basically what you do gave me more hope. I hope youre doing great in Vet School and that youre enjoying life at the same time. Cheers.
This has been so interesting! I'm currently a 1st year vet student in the states, we're just finishing up the year in a couple weeks, and wow it's been a ride. Right now I'm interested in radiology so it's so cool to see these sort of rotations and you working on cases. I expect my interests to change drastically over the years though, especially considering how competitive residencies/internships can be, I'll be happy to just graduate and get my DVM at this point haha keep up the videos!
