    This scenario demonstrates why NATO spent Billions on the SOSUS sonar array between Greenland-Iceland-UK. "Its a big ocean and my boat is so small."
    When the bugs are worked out, this will be one helluva game.

    Another note that you may want to inform the developers of: The MK 13 launcher on the O.H. Perry class frigates would have the launcher stowed at 180° train and 90° elevation when not in use. This provides quicker loading and with the back of the launcher exposed to the ship's bow, there is less salt deposited on the loader rail and the probe that interfaces with the missile itself while the bird is on the rail.       You should check out Microprose’s game Red Storm Rising from 1988. The game play is good the graphics is basicly just a big tactics view.

      @@henrikkarlsson8522 the book has snap shots of every battle being waged , from tanks, to subs, to ships, to Iceland being taken. If the game is like that book then it's epic.
      Right down to the russian sub sitting in debris at the mouth of the naval port monitoring and sending signals

      Just to add to the suggestions, you pronounce it "La-Hoy-ah". The "Hoy" should be like "Ships Ahoy!". I went to school there (University of California San Diego) and know La Jolla well :)

    I don't suppose that SOSUS is modelled in the game?
    You should have F-15s and E-3s operating out of Keflavik and the RAF out of Leuchars and Lossiemouth.
    Alphas were crazy fast and could very deep because of their titanium hull (which made them inisible to MAD) and large reactor. They were very loud though at anything other than idle/creeping due to their coolant loop pumps. That was eventually phased out with better pumps.

    Stealth, here is a scenario you could create where a swarm of fast attack boats attack a capital ship. The scenario could be called "mosquito boat attack" or something like that. Enjoying your videos, especially when it comes to Sea Power. Can't wait to play it

    It would be interesting to set up a multi-stage scenario where you tailor the next part of stage of the scenario based on how the previous part went.
    For example, let's say the Strait of Hamuz is under Soviet control and a large scale operation is set to change control of the strait. This operation will happen in multiple phases.
    Phase 1: A vanguard group of surface ships and submarines is to take out Soviet naval forces guarding the entrance to the strait. These naval group includes a carrier and an unknown number of surface vessels. Your job is to take these vessels out of the fight by either sinking them or damaging them to the point that they can no longer take part in combat operations. The more you deal with, the easier time the secondary phase of the attack will go have.
    Phase 2- Any surviving Nato Assets are to join up with a carrier strike group. The strike group's mission is to take out any ports, air bases, and coastal defense batteries in the area as well as any remaining naval forces in the area to in preparation for the third and final phase of the operation.
    Phase 3: After receiving a resupply from nearby supply ship, what remains of carrier strike group will make a final push leading an invasion force. The Soviet Navy has pulled the rest of their forces in the area to stop the invasion. Your goal is to protect the landing party so that they can take over Soviet land facilities and take over control of the Strait. Expect an enemy airbase to provide air support to the Soviet forces in the area. The air base is a high priority target and should be taken out to help gain air superiority in the area so that the landing force can safely carry out the operation. Be warned that there is civilian merchant vessels in the area. An E-3 will be sent to aid you in jamming the enemy communication and location enemy forces.
    The time period would be the mid to late 80's. Any ships that are damaged will no longer be able to take part in next phase of the operation. Aircraft from the carrier that lost during the second phase will be replaced by aircraft from another carrier outside of the operation zone for the third phase of the operation.
    That is the type of scenario that I would like to see played out.

    13:32 Probably not outright buggy - just unable to turn fast enough to drop the sonobuoy at the right space. Consider that at the speed and altitude you have to drop it a looong distance from the impact point.

    You know, I really hope Microprose includes nuclear weapons in this game. Of course, they would massively change how the game is played, so you would probably want a mode to restrict them or an ROE system. That said, nobody has really made a game that gets into the nitty gritty of nuclear warfare, and I think we deserve to see it

      DEFCON by Introversion Software is probably nitty-gritty enough for you. It even has submarines.
      But otherwise, nuclear tipped torpedoes and depth charges are unlikely to make this more interesting.

    Consider popping above and below the layer with your subs (and VDS) every few minutes when you are just searching.
    Also, sonobuoys should have a larger radio link range if you fly higher?

    Can you please ask the developers to fix the issue with the airborne weapons range.
    The higher the speed & hight of a fighter, the greater the range of the weapons especially anti ship missles, also a receding or flanking target will have an effect on the weapons range, the range of the weapons doesn't appear to get greater at higher heights or that's just me.
    can we have when we click on our own ship a circle that will automatically show all weapons range?
    Is there an option not to show the enemies 3d module unless when in LOS? To add to the realism.

    wow a vp 40ds fighting marlin...but the buno number is wrong for 1986... the 159326 is a update 2.5 i believe....vp 40 had upgraded to the update iii by then....how do I know...I know because i picked up 8 of the 9 new update 3 p3c when I was assigned to the squadron from 85 to 88...yes I was the antisubmarine warfare acoustic operator back then...lol...flew almost 1600 hrs crew time in three years.

    Perhaps your aircraft is having problems because the drops are too close together in order for a plane that size to make that turn in time. Hence it needs to circle around and far enough out to drop where you want it?

    I'm betting you also played your share of Harpoon back in the early 90s. I loved this scenario. But it was so tedious to set up ASW air patrols. Is there a way to automate that in this game?

      Actually, now that I look at it, there are far fewer NATO assets in this scenario than there were in the Harpoon scenario I was thinking about.

    Loving these scenarios, but watching these larger fleet engagements raises a question: How were NATO commanders supposed to control nuclear subs in coordinated actions like this? I assume that SSNs like the Los Angeles class had orders (e.g. patrol this area and engage any hostiles), but Sea Power seems to give the player the ability to coordinate SSNs, surface ships and aircraft in near real-time. Is that realistic?

      No it's not realistic. Subs are on their own. They might come up to periscope depth to receive messages every once in a while but that's it. This however is a game and doesn't have to be realistic.

      @@Stealth17Gaming Gotcha, thanks. It'll be interesting to see if anyone develops "House Rules" for operating SSNs in a more realistic manner during Sea Power missions. E.g. setting up separate areas for SSNs and P-3s/helicopters to operate, so there isn't risk of conflicts and also so the two can't help each other in real-time.

      They do have VLF radios that can pick up messages when submerged, but they're receive only and the messages come through slow. Usually the message would just be to come up to periscope depth and receive orders on another channel.
      I think at close distances they can talk via an underwater telephone (literally just transmit sounds through the water and receive by hydrophone). But doing so would give away your location same as any other noise.

    Alright, while I do enjoy these videos, I do find it a bit frustrating that the videos are released so far apart. I understand the members first thing, but it would be great to have the videos that belong together, ie parts one and two or one two and three be released publicly on the same day. Or at the very least in order. Now this is a three partner that will release over the next few days while part two of the scorpion video is not even out.
    I really don't wanna sound like an ass here, but it really takes a lot of the enjoyment out of the episodes, knowing you'll be left on a cliffhanger and potentially not even getting to see it resolved in the next video.

      Releasing 3 videos in a day would be a lot of lost effort as TH-cam's algorithm would not show all parts.

    13:32 Probably not outright buggy - just unable to turn fast enough to drop
    the sonobuoy at the right space. Consider that at the speed and altitude you have to drop it some distance from the impact point.
