I luv how drummers and people that dont understand harmony and Notes praise the drummers because they cant tell whats going on apart from drumm strokes and percutive sounds lol...
@@santiagobenitez1388 I love how unnecessarily rude this reply was to a comment complementing a fantastic musician. I am studying music theory and jazz drum set and can confirm that this Drummer is in fact very good. The rest of the musicians are also amazing
His style reminds me of a distilled more stream-lined Michael Brecker. Very clean and rich. BTW, I mean that as a 100% positive compliment because as much as much as I loved Brecker, it was hard to break things down into individual notes....especially back in the old "run back and forth" between your horn and the record player days.
Finally!!!! A real jazz artist. Playing w/real jazz artists. So tired of the quasi-proxy bullshit people call jazz today. This is a breathe of fresh air.
@@colondaniel5624 Smile. I'm self-studying, bass mostly, sketchily for years and years. Getting there. Going to try some 2-5-1 changes now that you've mentioned them. Thanks.
Just imagine Coltrane travelling to the future and seeing this. Such a giant step (lol) forward from the much more simplistic style of soloing Coltrane did on that album. I think he'd love it!
Feifke (his big band arrangements are awesome), Markovitz and Macbride; what a great rhythm team. What polyrhythm is used on the second round of the head?
ok i got it. So its 2 against 3 quarter notes, which means it is a little shorter than each measure. It takes 4 measures for it to line up. It's better described as 2 and 2 thirds against 4.
On the way to virtuosity, some masters develop 'non-standard' or 'deviated' habits to obtain better sound, more fitting their physical facial character and they are more comfortable with it. You don't start like that as a rule, of course, :) and not everybody does it. Some, for example inflate their cheeks, some don't and breathe circularly instead. My advice, do as you are taught, for a long long time. Once you achieve mastery, may be you discover too. But only then. :)
@bzalto Yes there is a rule! There are many rules! Without the proper technique, no one could play for poo and everyone would sound like crap! Now if you're Chad and you sound like that, you can do whatever you want. lol Even Chad abides by the rules, he just breaks others... at least the embouchure one. lol
Roland Satterwhite i do it all the time when i solo just cuz it gives me something to look and i’m able to focus on the solo instead of looking around the room

What a great sound that drummer has. So crisp and delicate. Nice touch.

He's very accomplished, indeed. The entire band is top shelf.

My phone just burst into flames from all this fire
Honestly one of my favorite versions of Giant Steps
yes!
Leaving a comment here so I can tell my kids that I knew Chad is gonna be the next sax legend. They are gonna look at me as if I'm a legend too. ;)
If you don't see my comment, that means you probably already forgot
when is this arrangement going on the website for sale? (not that I'd attempt playing it) just want to look at it..
One of the best Tenor sax sounds I ever heard colorfully reach incredible interpretation of Giant Steps

No comparison to Micheal your dreaming
@@saxchillz2328 I’m a huge brecker fan but Chad LB easily is up there with him in certain ways.
@@saxchillz2328 Big Whig & Duncan Cofell are right

Tom Parker i think it's three against four. I also agree what you said, what a scene there is now!
actually 4 against 3

Yuksel Oden ohhhhh, that makes sense!! Thank you sooo much :) have a good day
You too! :)
You would have to ask him, but there is no rule, and no one plays perfectly centered. Comfort and results are usually the reason.

Hi chad which mouthpiece are you using here? Such a depth and ring in the sound!
It looks like his signature syos mouthpiece to me
this is great playing! but i'm confused why they are reading the music when they are soloing. Is it habit? they obviously know the chords inside out.
Roland Satterwhite i do it all the time when i solo just cuz it gives me something to look and i’m able to focus on the solo instead of looking around the room
Nice arrangement
