My most favourite song which is sung by great comedian Mehmood .
My heartiest tributes to him 💐💐🙏🇮🇳
Legend is the actual song was to be recorded by Kishore Kumar and Asha bhosle . He was late in arriving and RD was rehearsing this song with Mehmood. Kishore who watched this backstage was so impressed that he put his foot down and asked Mehmood to sing it on his behalf. Rest is history. Mehmood himself had narrated it while speaking of Kishore Kumar's generosity 🙏
Actual song is recorded by MSV
Muthu kulika variyala is Tamil song which came in Tamil which is directed by balachander
@@uncommonone238 'Do Phool' was a remake. Even Govinda's superhit movie 'Aankhen' too was a remake of the same movie.

Asha ji is awesome; wow she injects energy, naughtiness and umph to RD's composition - Hats off to the koyal of the sub-continent!
"Ayyo Re Pyaar mein jo na karna chaahaa voh bhi mujhe karna pada" has a haunting effect on me. Asha Ji rendered it amazingly.
I thought that was Alka yagnik. Thanks for information.
Another point to note : Mehmood speaks Tamil very well.
His father was tamilian
God bless you,and you reattach yourself.🃏
South wala h wo
He's speaking malayalam between in the song
Actually this song has Malayalam words...
In my humble opinion, Mehmood ji was a highly under-utilised talent in our label-oriented film industry! He was indeed a multi-talented artiste.
Mehmood was the best beating every hero's of his time handdown!!
True --- the reason is when producers invest money-- most of them do not want to take risks with their money , so now they look for the previous best performance of each Artist , and that's how they get CAST IN for each movie--- and that's how they become TYPED with there previous best performance and they get the same kind of role in every succeeding movies of theirs --- ! Who can help--- ! MEHMOOD and ASRANI were my favorite comedians---- !
Rajeshwar Kaushik He was never underutilised rather a pioneer of Bollywood comedy.
+Tamsa Mohapatra you can now is meaning to Hindi muthu kodi kowadi hada?????
He was in deed. Those days Bollywood was very much label-oriented. Producers were afraid to experiment. However, things are much better today. There are many hard hitting movies and they also do commercially well. Thanks to the Multiplexes and Educated audience.
Asha ji is definitely a genius. Someone who speaks Tamil can appreciate the subtle accent that Asha ji has used to sound like a South Indian. She almost sounds like the famous Tamil playback singer Janaki. Hats off to Asha ji.
Right
Not at all, Asha ji's voice is sweeter & more toxic than that of S. Janaki. The truth is S. Janaki has always tried to copy the style of Asha ji, but never succeed, because singing like Asha ji is impossible for other female singers.
@@sabarnomoitra3140 I agree with you.
@@sabarnomoitra3140I'm asha bhosle supporter but dnt say. S.janaki is great than asha I'm not saying. Asha herself confined.
@@krishnakhumaar2353 is baat ka koi saboot nahin hai, Asha ji kahin bhi kabhi bhi aisa nahin kaha, apni cheap thinking apne paas rakho to behtar hoga.

Original maestro M. S. Viswanathan

The credit goes to him.
Excellent duet by Asha Bhosle and Mehmood shaab! What an extraordinary composition by R.D.Burman!
What a song ...
Just listen how Asha ji sung this song .no words to say for Asha ji
Salute to Legend Asha ji
Fabulous marvellous enchanting
Please hear the tamil too. Legendary singing of L.R.Eswari simply wow. Extreamely tallented. Asha ji too great. She simply mesmerized me. Asha ji and L.R.Eswariyamma both sung with Legendary perfection
Ahsan Nazeer ji sahi hain ashatai
@vivek ananda There wasn't, isn't & will not any female playback singer as versatile as Asha Bhosle.
Lyrics from tamil.. Starting lines from tamil which wrote by great kannadasan.. ❤️
The location of the original song sung by the incomparable duo of TMS(ounderarajan) and LR Easwari is Thoothukudi (Tuticorin during the Raaj).
Hats off to RD Burman and his brainwave to combine Mehmood Saab and Ashaji for this song. An oddball combo but what an effect!!!!!!!!!!!. This song evokes many childhood memories. I used to listen to it on vividh bharati. Thank you Panchamda, for being the maverick, that you are.
THIS SONG SUPPOSE TO SING KISHORDA, AFTER WORD THEY KEPT MEHMOOD VOICE AS IT IS.
Are you aware that this song is originally a tamil song with the first line - "Muthu kulika vaarigala"... not the spelling mentioned in this video. So the credit goes to MS Viswanathan, the legendary music composer from the south

@VK RAGHAVAN. The actress is RAMAPRABHA ! She is basically a telugu actress, having acted in over 1400 films since 1966.

Thank you for the information...🇱🇰
She is the busiest actress in those days, only hourly callsheets, great artist ,native Of Madanapalli,Chittoor district
I am pretty sure She wasn't singled out to Telugu alone...She acted in Tamil too. (Hell, even the Current "Tamilnadu" is mostly of Telugu people...) But then Chennai was basically Telugu state..
In case you didn't understand,,Tamil cine industry, Eventhough based in Tamilnadu,,is Telugu oriented,,(Actors,Producers etc)...

Mast song❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
The meaning of Kiss in Malayalam is Umma or Vumma. Muthu in Tamil means a Pearl. The above song is based on Tamil song Muthu kulikka Vareegalaa in Anubhavi Raja Anubhavi which has been released in 1967 and the meaning of the song is "come to pearl diving".
Muttu kodi means kiss me, it is kannada.
@@kirtisagar6821 but this is tamil song and it means to pick pearl form sea
I am so confused now. I have started thinking it's a Punjabi song. And the meaning is, I will kill you
Now I came to know that why north Indian people teasing my name by singing this song..... 😂😂😂😁😁
NELLAI MUTHU 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Are you sure the "u" sound short in the word for Urine? in Sanskrit the word for "Urine" has the long sound , while "Muktha" meaning pearl , in Tamil is Muthu, has short "u" sound.

I love this song ssoooo much......even the Tamil version of this song is so nice.......Tamil version sung by TMS & LR Eswari - Nagesh and Manorama in the movie.
That is not the Tamil version. That is the original as the tribute to the composer and originality of the song they have not changed the first line. If it was changed no meaning. Hats of to MSV
I go back 40 years ,my sweat memory of childhood. Lovely
I felt aroma of Rd Burman s music. And Ramaprabas charm. She is still enegetic and vlogging from her farm house in Madanapalli.Take a look at her vlogs.
The way Asha changes the scale at 1.06 is simply amazing.
Shows what an incredible range the great RD Burmsn had! No mainstream composer can compose such a song, I think...
Muthu kulikka varigala Songs was originally done for a Tamil movie by the world class musician
MS Viswanathan(MSV). It was later adopted by RD Burman. However Burman retained the first line in Tamil. You should hear MSV sir's composings. The level to which it can carry the seasoned listener is immeasurable.

Very athletic actress!
Multi-talented Mehmood is a delight to watch, no matter what he did .... What an incredible career graph he had .... a classic case of rags to riches to rags .... BUT his accomplishments are praiseworthy .....God Bless his Soul!
A masterpiece of Ashaji and Mehboob Sir. Sensational and evergreen Ashaji.........Even today this song makes u fresh and bring smile on your face........

This movie is remake from Tamil movie. In that tamil movie this song appers with this first line which means "shall we go to cultivate Pearl (muthu)".
Actually the first line of this song should be "Muthu kulikka vaarigalaa". This movie is a remake of a tamil movie. Director used the song of tamil movie here. They were unable to find en equivalent word in Hindi for "Muthu kulikka vaarigalaa" so they used the original tamil words itself. In classical tamil, you can use muthu to denote pearl or even you can use it to denote kiss. "Muthu kulikka vaarigalaa" means " are you coming to harvest pearl" Or You can also refer it as " Are you coming to shower kisses". Beauty of the language can elevate many things.... Tamil language is very rich.
Very nice...
The story behind this Song that ORIGINALLY this was meant to be Sung by Legendary KISHOREDA... On the day of the recording KISHOREDA got stuck somewhere,as this was a Mehmood home production...Rd Burman rang KISHOREDA and asked when they could record this song...KISHOREDA been KISHOREDA asked RD Burman to dub the Song in Mehmood voice with ASHAJI.. When this Song was played back to KISHOREDA he told both Mehmood and RD Burman to keep this recording and he refsused to SING the SONG...KISHOREDA foresight proved right as the Movie lovers really enjoyed this Song in a Comedy classic....KISHOREDA was Not only a Great Singer but a humble person at HEART....JAI KISHOREDA...1929 /1987
And The Lady voice first choice was LR Easwary
No words
@@cartoon4191 no it's not true. Asha Bhosle was the only choice for the female voice from the first time for this song. The bollywood music directors including R.D.Burman never thought about the other singers because all were very talented & versatile singers in bollywood industry.

This song has so much energy dance
Mehmood is such a talented comedian. On a gloomy day and in a depressed mood, after watching this song, I have a big smile on my face. In comedy, timing is everything. He dialogue delivery is timely, face full of expression, action is full of energy, a bit wild and crude. And this is perfect for putting laughter on people's faces. I also heard a rumor that Mehmood was the only comedian who was paid more than hero in some films - not sure true or false! If anyone knows, please comment.
Shah Raj that is true.... even lead actors use to drop the film proposals in which mehmood is in side hero or side comic role.
Shah Raj ji it is 100% true. I am 63 now. During my youth full days we always go to see movies and used to say it is movie of Mehmood sahib and irrespective of it who is the hero lest it be Dharminder or Jatinder or Rajesh Khana

PANCHAM IS A GENIUS MUSIC DIRECTOR
This is not pancham da's song. But pancham da is brilliant director
I love RD Burman, but most of his music is just copied from others from outside India. In those days it was difficult to catch it as there was no internet..
@@sankalpjain2983 that mean you don't love the real RD friend ... many of his songs were inspired yes but just don't look at the tune in fact credit should be given for recreating the entire process be it singing , orchestration rhythm etc . Also some of the songs were asked by the producers to lift like mehbooba , jahan teri yeh nazar hai etc ...moreover he never copied hit songs like other musicians he made unpopular songs popular.. if copying was so easy we all would have been musicians now
@@KrishnaKumar-kf6zy that’s the reason I love RD Burman, because the result of his work is amazing and I can keep listening to those. But no harm in acknowledging that he lifted a lot of work from others without giving any credit to original music composers. Copying wasn’t so easy in those days, I agree, but copying is still copying. Today, everyone can lift and remix songs so anyone can do it, but it has also become easy to catch copy cats :)
@@sankalpjain2983 He did copy but as I said there is no music without inspiration else one would become predictable and typed and hence RD is respected and admired a lot when compared to others even today... and sankalp no harm in copying a few beats when a new song much more catchy than the original is born ..pls do not look at those few lines but look at the entire package its just wow... RD did give credit to the original creators in many of his interviews

The unparalleled genius duly acknowledged by his “ Maanaseega Guru” Naushad shaab!

The singers in the Tamil film Anubhavi Raaja Anubhavi of 1967 are Eswari L R, Sounderarajan T M. That song is slightly staider than the version filmed on Mehmood.
These type of lyrics, talented actors who loved acting but not publicity and stardom, these type of music composers,..those are the things which we lost long ago. Seeing old films and hearing old songs will make us all think of the dedication of each and everyone who worked hard to make the movies successful and super hits.
