This film was one of the first hits of Amitabh during the period of his struggle to get established in Bollywood.
It is said that he had decided that if this film did not click he would go back to his job, abandoning his efforts to get into films.
He had finished all his money and was practically living off actor Mahmud.
Mahmud saab somehow managed to put this film together and convinced Aruna Irani to act in it. Even Kishore Kumar agreed to do a guest appearance, as himself, to pull this film off.
Mahmud did not take any fee and most of the other actors took a lower fee.
