- Fans are mourning the deaths of three beloved icons: Richard Simmons, Shannen Doherty and Dr. Ruth. The night before his death, the 76-year-old Simmons reportedly fell in the bathroom at his Los Angeles home. Last year, Doherty announced that cancer had spread to her brain. She was 53 years old. And Holocaust survivor Dr. Ruth Westheimer passed away "peacefully," holding her son and daughters' hands.
Rest in peace to all 3 legends they will never be forgotten! 😢

I’ve listened to Dr. Ruth since I was almost 18 years old that is 18 years ago! I cannot tell you how much I am going to miss her!

There has always been a curse of celebrities dying in 3s. I remember back in 2009 Farrah Fawcett's, Micheal Jackson, and Billy May's died within 48 hours of each other
Also back in 1997 it was Princess Diana, Mother Theresa, and Betty Shabazz ( Malcolm X's wife)
Also in 2016, it was Carrie Fisher, Debbie Reynolds (her mother), and singer George Michael.
Michael Jackson and Farrah Fawcett died on the same day, and it was such big news that MJ died that Farrah was barely noticed.

So sad we lost Dr Ruth, but that sounds like a very peaceful way to pass. It’s crazy just a few more years and she would have been with us at the age of 100.

Losing Richard Simmons and Dr. Ruth saddens me greatly. They were iconic during my childhood and incredibly inspirational. I can still hear Dr. Ruth's voice on Between the Lions on PBS. Richard was seen as silly by my parents by I admired and envied his spirit. Absolutely tragic, especially to lose Richard so suddenly by a freak accident. Just heartbreaking.
He should have gone to the ER or called 911, but he didn’t want to spend his birthday in the hospital. Sad way to go. Rest in peace, Richard.
