Seeing this again, after not having seen Richard Simmons for a long, long time, has made me realize that Pauly Shore just nailed his portrayal. Assuming the full movie is the sincere tribute the world probably wants, I personally can’t wait to see it.
I miss him too. He says he is doing well, but his fans would love to see for themselves he is truly OK and happy. My mother and I saw him in person in the 90’s. It was so much fun. I am 53 now and think it’s time to let him inspire me to take care of myself. That message is still out there for us. I think that would make him happy.

You’re a special person that the world needs more of. If you think about it, all those other fitness instructors at the time had hard body models for backup dancers…and Richard had regular folks on the set to workout and people could relate. Nobody else was doing that. Trailblazer for sure!
