  • Giant Mountain Bike Conversion using Bafang 750W Motor BBS02B BBS02 Ebike Conversion Kit from Greenergy Global Store within Aliexpress. (The link is too long to place here).
*To abide by local laws that I recently learnt about, I have since programmed the controller to output power to 250w and removed the throttle. This will also give me extended range and life on parts. The full power is however legal for private property.
To price up the kit, go to Aliexpress and enter "Greenergy Global Store Bafang" into the search bar. Click on the Greenergy Global Store link. The default product should be a 750W motor plus accessories. Then add your battery and select the display, ( I do not benefit, I just want to provide clarity).
What's in the box? Scroll down to the "More" area and the web page will expand. There are things to consider...if you have hydraulic brakes you need to order the sensors, not the levers that are included by default. I then used the adhesive tape to place and calibrate them, then rubber banded the lever to the on position (provide clerance so not to glue maget to the sensor), then glossed superglue over each magnet to make sure they stayed there. You order the sensors by adding a comment in the chat area after the order is completed. I found them to be very responsive and very helpful.
You can get the an optional curved LHS crank here to equalise pedal distance; www.aliexpress...
You wont get the gear shift sensor by default, but I don't use one, I pull the LH brake lever in slightly to stop motor then change gears like a clutch.
BIG TIP: Install the Coupert plugin that scans for discounts, it really did work for me on the Aliexpress site. I paid $960 Australian for motor that includes parts and battery. I paid an additional AU$70 for an ebike chain from a local bikestore, I recommend this high tensile chain re-joined with link clips if you are venturing far from home.
Is this for you? At 13/7/24 my analytics show that all of the 1300 views todate are years 45 & older. I am 56, and this is a great way to get back out on your bike especially if you have injuries. I now ride 48kms round trip to work. The battery has about a 150km range (specs above), and I work it hard.

That's a pretty regular sized mountain bike...

I've had a similar setup for a couple of years. The shift sensor for cutting off the motor wors really really well. It performs the same like you do manually, but automatically. I don't have the brake cut off sensors since the motor cuts off almost immediately when you stop pedaling. It's normal that you read 52v or so when the battery is fully charged. 48v is just the nominal voltage. When it's "dead", it's around 42-43 I think.

@@shadesinblack1 This is great information and thank you for sharing it with us. The brakes scenarios makes sense, it does cut out as u say.
I will check out the shift sensor.

The chains and the sprockets take a really bad hit... Weigh under engineered

@@timr31908 I have spent a lot of time this week trying to solve cracking on gear 8 of 9 to no avail. Today I lengthened the chain as it was too short, still did it, then I loosened off the rear wheel and reseated it, adjusted the B screw and finally it’s behaving.
U r correct the hardware takes a real hit, I thought it was going to break!
I think lengthening the chain had an impact on the B positioning and I also think reseating the wheel helped.

It wasn’t adjustment, Bike needed new cassette, replaced it and it runs perfectly now.

Nicely done bike! Just recently convert my own bike here in Finland with same setup. About the price to me, if considering other things apart from the conversion kit, such as tools, chemicals, grease (if you have none of those), the total cost could painfully climb even more. I will try the plugin you suggested next time on Ali.

I was depressed and smoking too much pot for months. Sitting around bored. Now im gonna save my money and make my bike go fast instead.

@zangl2955 An excellent response to one’s struggles, and lifestyle choices.
There is a link between pot and depression, and also schizophrenia if used long term.
Now is the time for change well done, I respect that.
Btw riding an e-bike can be addictive, a healthy addiction! 😀

Hello, I would like to know if I can mount the bafang bbs02b 750W kit on the giant bike Giant - Trance X2 2010 thank you

Hi, The width of your bottom bracket (Hub the the pedals connect through) needs to be between 68-73 mm. Mine was 73mm and it fit. The 73mm will only take the one lock nut, it will not have enough thread protruding to take the additional aluminum collar, (this is normal & ok). See ae01.alicdn.com/kf/Sfcd2d256dde84b39bece09f5c620944bN.jpg
I am concerned about the battery though, it may not fit inside where the drink bottle mounts, you will need to research that, I will try and come back with the dimensions of the battery. Mine did fit, but it did not line up so I had to drill into the frame to mount it.
Advice based on your bike as shown here; ecmtb.net/t/2010-giant-trance-x2-sold/6471 Thx Tim

      @mowtown75  หลายเดือนก่อน

@tennyboy13 I ran stainless steel 5 mm bolts all the way thru the bar and nuts on the underside.
I did still use the drink bottle threads for the other two screws that are under the battery holder cover. Let me know if u need a video.
