    Most likely it's not the water but the decomposition of the resin, the gases released during the decomposition of the resin inflate the textolite. The most common damage from such inflation is the rupture of via holes between layers and the deterioration of the thermal conductivity of the textolite.

    So i am trying to do this on purpose for work, experimenting a little so we can make gerbers; did you just soak the board in water and for how long would you recommend?

      It is important to remember that FR4 resin bonded fibreglass PCB's are Hygroscopic and will absorb moisture from the air. To accelerate this process the PCB's can be soaked in water and the longer they are left to soak, the more moisture they will absorb
