PSYCHONAUT literally came from out of nowhere -Mechelen, Belgium, to be precise- but their debut album Unfold The God Man showcases truly world class musicianship and songwriting abilities, heavily influenced by 70’s bands like Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd, but also drawing inspiration from contemporary heavy artists like Tool or Amenra.
Recorded by Chiaran Verheyden at the renowned Daft Studios in Malmedy, Unfold The God Man is an intricate concept album tackling philosophical and existential themes, and ultimately exploring mankind’s re-ascension to a higher level of consciousness. The nearly 70- minute-long album contains material from over 3 years of incessant writing, arranging and recording.
“We’ve always been interested in religion, spirituality and philosophy”, comments Stefan DeGraef, who is in charge of 100% of the guitars and 50% of the vocals in PSYCHONAUT. “We’ve
meditated together, had long discussions about the nature of life, the origin of consciousness, the purpose of existing etc. for as long as we’ve known each other. We share a common vision and have a connection. We were blessed with some experiences in the past which fundamentally changed the way we look at the universe and ourselves.”
It comes as no surprise that there is a lot of attention to detail behind Unfold the God Man: one such detail is the fact that the album was recorded with the note A tuned to 432 Hz, because this relates to the idea that 432 is a multiple of the number 9, which is used in much of the symbolism to which the band refers.
The three-piece made themselves a name across the Benelux underground with a raw and compelling live show, which merges their wall of sound with intense visual landscapes and moody lighting design. Contrast and variation are the two main anchors on which they base their musical and visual ideas. Since 2013, they have released 2 physical EP’s - ‘24 Trips Around the Sun’ (2014) and ‘Ferocious Fellowman’ (2016) and taken the stages of Desertfest, Rock Herk and Alcatraz Festivals. - เพลง

I can't put into words what a goddamn masterpiece this CD is. The Fall of Consciousness is one of the best pieces of music I've ever heard in my entire life.
you still buy music? you could just download it and put it on whatever device
Hey bros! I'm 70 and i've heard a lot of good music since the sixties...this is really a extraordinary masterpiece! Thx a lot for this! ❤❤❤❤❤
I suggest you check out TOOL if you don't already know them
It's a crime how underrated they still are and how few monthly listeners they have on spotify. This is a progressive masterpiece!
My neck hurts from the headbanging. Best album I've heard in months \o/
Pelagic does it again. Absolutely killing it with the new releases.
It wasn’t an ad that brought me here. It was my intuition. Right on time.
Understanding.
Not the Psychonauts Music I was searching for, but definitely a good find.
Someday, millions will discover this album....
That would be awesome, but I doubt it. Pearls are always only discovered by a few, sadly!
Let it be pearl but not before swines
millions of years.
i mean if we don't burn thr hard drive earth is stored on
doubtful.
I am among the millions.
so glad i discovered this, funny i was just looking for the proper spelling of psychonaut. this will fit perfectly between tool and mastodon on my playlist. Hello from south Florida.
Sounds like The Ocean meets Devin Townsend Project meets Paradise Lost meets Opeth.
Album of the year. Please release tons of merch
I'm blown away ! First time I listen to the album, after my first contact with this band this morning as I randomly discovered their incredible new single ! Probably my discovery of the year here !
I rarely listen to full albums anymore, but this is a masterpiece from the first note to the last.
Other also pretty unknown great big album is Bryan Beller "Scences from the flood" ...
Got to say, this band is really on to something with that initial track. It perfectly sets up the album, and it doesn't sound like a rerun of other modern prog bands. They have their own sound, and I love it. I haven't even heard the later songs, and I'm already in love. Follow this band close because I think there's going to be some amazing albums coming from them. Thanks for the awesome music!
Split EP with Sâver coming in May! 🤘🏻
You were right, their new album is amazing indeed !
The new album is awesome! Fresh but still has their distinct sound. Great band
Oh. My. God. This is amazing. Talk about crushing it with your debut. Inspired, completely inspired.
Perfect timing! Exactly where my head is right now. Love this album. Hearing it for first time.
On today’s episode of an album I found in a day and have the urge to buy:
A modern masterpiece
i have no money, but i guess i will buy this album any way - its awesome and give me the feeling to discover so many unseen things
I totally love you guys at Pelagic for re-releasing this gem!
This is an amazing record
Known these guys for a while now, and I had to grow into their music, but what a fulfilling journey that was. This album is so epic, I've had it on repeat at least a 100 days the last year, and still not tired of it. So happy they were signed by Pelagic so their brilliant music can be spread around the globe! #2800love
I mean, how tf is this not mainstream metal? If it were, the world would be better, I guess. Cuz this is soo good.
Because they are trying to lift people up when mainstream trend is down
I discovered this album 2 months ago and I can't live without come back here listen to it from time to time. Great work, the ambience is so .... i can't put a word on it
The astute observer notices the alternate playthrough on the album next to the song titles; 8. Nexus > 4. The Fall of Consciousness > 1. All I Saw As A Huge Monkey > 2. The Story of Your Enslavement > 5. Sananda > 6. Celestial Dictator > 7. Halls of Amenti > 3. Kabuddah > 9. Nothing is Consciousless
In preservation of a previous comment from the original release :)
Ergo Dreams I think you missed the 8 next to Nothing is Consciousless
Why would you listen it that way? Genuinely interested.
@@thibautallaert7471 its how the story is alternatively laid out. On the original post of this album play through they explained it a little in a comment thread. I don't remember the specifics. I use to go back and read it but I think that video got taken down once they got sign by palegic.
Damn this channel is full of gems
My favorite off of this album is definitely the first song although I like every second of the album. It really reminds me of Night Verses' "From the Gallery of Sleep". Great work!
This is my lucky week, I found Psychonaut, IOTUNN, heard that Porcupine tree is releasing new album 24th June 2022, what a joy :D
you should check out intronaut!!
This is one of the best albums of our decade. the 4th track is absolutely insane.
Hope they do more songs like this in the future.
Stumbled upon this album today and damn, had the same remark. The Fall of Consciousness stuck on me and this happens very rarely. Absolutely stunned while I was walking back from work in the night. Had to stand still for a moment to recover.
tracks 4 and 6 are awesome!

Pretty damn interesting stuff. The guitar tone is making my drool cup overflow.

This brilliant album brings a new fresh blood to metal world. It is a type that grows in you as you listen over and over again. If they can keep this up, Psychonaut may become a giant band and you may as well say you were there when they made the big jump. Keep it going after incredible masterpiece work ... Allez les Belges !
Albums that needs time to grow in you are always the best, they stay with you forever.

C'est du génie. Je viens juste de découvrir ce groupe grâce à la grosse radio, j'espère que c'est que le début. Il y a une sensibilité particulière qui me parle, la même que my sleeping karma... une sorte d'expression du lien entre la conscience et l'univers...

💯
Willy 1000 heeft me de groep leren kennen. Damn joh🤤
I haven't managed to get all of what's happening into this album yet, because it's really dense and hard to completely understand after only a few listens, but there's something huge going on. It's not perfect, it may be a bit overlong at some points, but the atmospheres, the walls of sound, the melodies, the singer, the song structures, the depth of the concept and the dedication of this band to their art... They're going to become huge, at least in the post metal scene, they are incredibly talented and you can hear that after 5 minutes of listening to that.
Nexus and The Fall Of Consciousness are absolutely perfect songs btw
Post-metal is literally supposed to be long and drawn out haha. But I agree with everything else you mention here. Awesome record from a very talented band.
Holy shit, late to the party but this hit like a train
mmmm Nice.... very nice my new favorite
