The "dangerous, my friend" and "danger is my friend" switch-up is one of my favorite moments in the Vengeance Saga. On a side note: I bit into my sandwich right as Jay said "you can bet your sandwich." I'm dyinnngggggg. 🤣
A detail I kinda noticed was when in the Troy saga, Zeus told Ody he’d never rid his hands of blood, he can only choose who’s, and in thunder bringer, he actually has to choose for Zeus!
That exact line "Don't you know that danger is my friend?" literally gave me chills the first time I heard it simply because its just GORGEOUS songwriting!! Jorge is a GENIUS!!
I don’t know if this is _quite_ the same, but I noticed a similar thing in Puppeteer and There Are Other Ways. “I’ve got all the _power,_ no I’m not a player, I’m a _puppeteer”_ “So much _power,_ but there’s no _puppet here”_
I always loved these little lyrics variations, I think it makes the whole song so much more fun and interesting. I also love the part in Dangerous where Hermes sings "the blood your hands have known, I know... and then I know, I know" I dont know what it is but its definitely a vibe :D
I absolutely love the masterful way the lyrics are crafted with all the rhymes and half-rhymes. One of my favorite ones is in "My Goodbye" when Odysseus rhymes "wiser" and "why's your" Keep up the amazing work!
It's been ages since I first heard Wouldnt You Like and the phonetic wordplay between "be hurt" and "beat her" still has me reeling. I love the way you play with music and language in your storytelling - it's surprisingly unique among popular musicals.
My favorite part of musicals is the wordplay. So many lyricists and composers for musical theater and film love this exact kind of wordplay, and it always feels so clever and fun!
I love how Jay is gushing about the amazing word play and absolute BEAST MODE WRITING when he literally wrote it and it just makes him so happy that he can gush about this stuff and that makes us (epic fandom) so happy because i friggin love that for you Mr. jalapeño. You can have my sandwich sir you deserve everything 👏👏👏🙌🙌🙌

Odysseus should've kept Poseidon's trident. I can understand why you had him drop it, though. Just the sight of Odysseus holding it would send all 108 suitor running. 🤣
How is the dude who made EPIC the musical more of a geek than the fans he’s amassed? That’s both dedication to the craft and love for the genre. Parabéns, Jorge! 🇧🇷
1:06 "And you can bet your sandwich, it's gonna be in that last saga in a really cool way" Dangerous motif? Man, those suitors are gonna have a bad time.
OH I'm SO EXCITEDDDD I can't wait for this last saga and all the cool tricks and easter eggs he's hidden away for himself and us and for the story within the music
These Yap sessions are my favorite. You can really hear how passionate Jay is about this musical, and it’s amazing to see(or hear) how much thought is put into it
despite danger being nearby like the entire saga and not getting a single danger motif, i'm just guessing that Dangerous acted as saying "yeah it's literally always nearby this saga"
That is a little "stating the obvious" as I love that detail of your songs. also just wanna mention: Something simmilar happens during the Circe-saga with "this is the price\ we pay to love" vs "we pay to live". It sounds alike, but has a different meaning 👍👍👍
I love the way he talks about this project! He sounds like one of us when we catch another hidden meaning or analyse the lyrics! I’ve never come across any other creator who talks about their project like this, and I love it so much!
I just finished every saga and got sad because I thought it ended with the vengeance saga but now I’m in relief because of the ithica saga and I can’t wait to hear how it’s adapted into song

“You can bet your sandwich’s it’s gonna be in the last saga in a really cool way” yeah by the suitors saying Odysseus’s name as the danger motif
