i think the "Pokemon Wrestling" thing could be a neat idea...like, if you did a Solo-Run with two pokemon that end up with super-similar results (like Same Level, Same Reset-count, Same Time, etc), then they should have to 'settle it IN THE RING!!' afterward lol

Always up to you of course, I would say for Gen 2, if you're confident the post game is unwinnable, feel free to skip it man, usually the part I'm most interested in is the Elite 4, and if it's going well then it's interesting to see if the post game is possible, but since it wasn't going well. Possible winning strategies against Red (final battle): Set 1: Earthquake Return Curse (Get in Celadon) Protect Battle as shown in video up to Venusaur, use curse in first turn against it, second turn use protect to guard against Solarbeam. Proceed to finish Venusaur with EQ/Return. Hopefully Diglett can outspeed Blastoise at minus 1 speed and one shot it with +1 atk earthquake. Set 2: Earthquake Return Double Team Protect Pretty same as before, use double team instead of curse when Venusaur comes, protect when solarbeam hits, keep doing this up until you maxed evasion on diglett, hopefully Blastoise will miss Surf. Very cheesy strategy.

It looks like you had a very weak Diglett. 😭 A perfect LV100 Diglett pretty easily survives a single hit from Red’s Blastoise’s Surf. I don’t know about NPC’s Pokémon’s Stat EXP, but if it’s zero, then you CAN survive if your HP multiplied by your SDEF is greater than ~24,530, and you WILL survive if it’s over ~28,990. I’m also thinking about Hidden Power. 🤔 A perfect LV65 Diglett with HP Ice will always OHKO Lance’s LV50 Dragonite. Or LV63 with Never-Melt Ice.
Well your first mistake was not resetting when you got a female Diglett, since a pokemon's attack DV determines their gender in gen 2. Female pokemon = low DV.
in gen 1 (and I believe 2) you don't get the EVs you've earned before you level up. that means at lvl 100 you don't get the benefit of EVs naturally. that fix to this is to deposit the pokemon in a box and then retrieve it. easy to check once you've done some battles at 100. this might have been the final push that you needed to either survive surf or beat blastoise
I've made this challenge with a perfect Diglett and I succeded against Red at the level 86. With my stats (193;179;127;145;162;248), Blastoise never uses Surf and it is easy to Return/Earthquake everybody.
You would think with 10 base HP diglett would have something crazy like 130 base attack. Instead gamefreak gave it something crazy like 55 base attack. 😭

The ONLY problem with Diglett is that its practically weak against EVERYTHING at the START of the game theirs too MANY Grass/Flying types and its moves that it STARTS with at lv 1 SUCK.
12:47 You can clearly tell that your Diglett has a below-average Attack DV by the simple fact that gender was determined by the attack DV in Gen 2. Since Diglett has a 50-50 gender ratio, your female Diglett has an attack DV of 0-7. I know you don't like to give your Pokémon perfect DVs/IVs, but at the very least, when doing a Gen 2 run with a physical attacker, resetting for a male is a viable strategy.

Honestly, you might’ve had Red if you scored a lucky crit on Blastoise. Charizard, Espeon, and Snorlax are all not known for their physical defenses. Plus, having Leftovers plus not eating any Surfs or Giga Drains beforehand means you just might’ve been able to tank a stray hit or two, just in case.

I love your Pokemon challenge runs (as well as your runs of other games/franchises) and Pokemon as a whole, and I do like the videos of you playing wrestling games, even if I don't watch them as much (Wrestling Empire is the only one I can think of that I've watched fully off the top of my head), but something about the April Fools one just felt... off? I think partially it's a case of standard wrestling - hell, standard _fighting_ in general - not meshing well with how I view Pokemon fighting, and partially the fact that the models just look... I hesitate to use the term "bad" since I think that's supposed to be part of the charm, but... I didn't like it. I did like your commentary from the small bit that I did watch, though.

There’s a rare item in Kanto, you only get one of it since it’s a hidden item. Beserk Gene. It’s increases your attack by 2 stages but then confuses you for the battle (when tested it lasted 256 turns). With this consumable held item you can solo Red with Magikarp. But it’s 50/50 you hit yourself since you are confused.
#DMBAMA how about a Pokémon yellow play through with Ash’s team from the anime in first form?(pikachu, the three starters, a pidgey and a Butterfree or Mankey to deal with Brock) to pay tribute to the anime finishing just recently. 😊

I think you called it at the right time. Even if you got lucky and eventually got past the Blastoise, there's no way you'd beat the Snorlax.
Curse could be considered, but the speed drop would probably be catastrophic for the team other than Snorlax.

I don’t know about NPC’s Pokémon’s Stat EXP, but if it’s zero, then you CAN survive if your HP multiplied by your SDEF is greater than ~24,530, and you WILL survive if it’s over ~28,990.
I’m also thinking about Hidden Power. 🤔 A perfect LV65 Diglett with HP Ice will always OHKO Lance’s LV50 Dragonite. Or LV63 with Never-Melt Ice.
Well your first mistake was not resetting when you got a female Diglett, since a pokemon's attack DV determines their gender in gen 2. Female pokemon = low DV.
Advance wars 1 & 2 are on the switch now, it'd be amazing to see another play through from you for that. All the best as always
in gen 1 (and I believe 2) you don't get the EVs you've earned before you level up. that means at lvl 100 you don't get the benefit of EVs naturally. that fix to this is to deposit the pokemon in a box and then retrieve it. easy to check once you've done some battles at 100. this might have been the final push that you needed to either survive surf or beat blastoise

I've made this challenge with a perfect Diglett and I succeded against Red at the level 86.
With my stats (193;179;127;145;162;248), Blastoise never uses Surf and it is easy to Return/Earthquake everybody.
You would think with 10 base HP diglett would have something crazy like 130 base attack. Instead gamefreak gave it something crazy like 55 base attack. 😭
Suggestion for Future Challenge... Gen 6 but only can use Binacle...
Or perhaps Pokemon Pearl with only one Hippopotas. It seems decently strong

The ONLY problem with Diglett is that its practically weak against EVERYTHING at the START of the game theirs too MANY Grass/Flying types and its moves that it STARTS with at lv 1 SUCK.

12:47 You can clearly tell that your Diglett has a below-average Attack DV by the simple fact that gender was determined by the attack DV in Gen 2. Since Diglett has a 50-50 gender ratio, your female Diglett has an attack DV of 0-7.
I know you don't like to give your Pokémon perfect DVs/IVs, but at the very least, when doing a Gen 2 run with a physical attacker, resetting for a male is a viable strategy.

Honestly, you might’ve had Red if you scored a lucky crit on Blastoise. Charizard, Espeon, and Snorlax are all not known for their physical defenses. Plus, having Leftovers plus not eating any Surfs or Giga Drains beforehand means you just might’ve been able to tank a stray hit or two, just in case.
I cant believe you missed out on the shiny magikarp 🤣 I always think that if you have a decent shot at Red if you were able to get through Blue and the Pokémon champion, today was no different XD.

Can you beat pokemon Emerald with only one Luvdisc? Emerald will probably be harder than Ruby & Sapphire, since you will be fighting 2 water specialists instead of just 1 in R/S.
I'd really love (possibly Pokemon) wrestling to at least coincide with the WWE Big Four or AEW's PPVs. You're *way* too good at commentary, both color and play by play.

To touch on the outro; I didn't actually watch the entirety of the April Fools challenge. I got a laugh out of it, watched a small portion of it, and then stopped. I love your Pokemon challenge runs (as well as your runs of other games/franchises) and Pokemon as a whole, and I do like the videos of you playing wrestling games, even if I don't watch them as much (Wrestling Empire is the only one I can think of that I've watched fully off the top of my head), but something about the April Fools one just felt... off?
I think partially it's a case of standard wrestling - hell, standard _fighting_ in general - not meshing well with how I view Pokemon fighting, and partially the fact that the models just look... I hesitate to use the term "bad" since I think that's supposed to be part of the charm, but... I didn't like it. I did like your commentary from the small bit that I did watch, though.

There’s a rare item in Kanto, you only get one of it since it’s a hidden item. Beserk Gene. It’s increases your attack by 2 stages but then confuses you for the battle (when tested it lasted 256 turns). With this consumable held item you can solo Red with Magikarp. But it’s 50/50 you hit yourself since you are confused.
