The Sehome High School Drum Line faces up against Bellingham High school, Ferndale High School and Blaine High School in the Biggest 4 way Drum Battle we have ever seen!
I've read the comments about the dirtiness or sloppiness of the drum lines but being from Mobile and going to New Orleans a lot and all the parades, etc. I have to say I relish the joy these kids are having in this. It may have been a "competition" of sorts but what I see is a joyful sense of play and not taking the competition part of it seriously but more of a tongue in cheek kind of comp and more of a sense of enjoying each other. It's nice to see. I found it really lightening and joyful as I watched it before I read the comments. That's my take on it :)
Yeah! I personally really enjoyed the video! I’ve been watching a lot of their videos recently to try to pick up some new tricks and honestly they’re very entertaining!
I cannot wait to get back into band next year. Starting my senior year getting back into band after being out since freshman year. I had to dropout because when we moved we had to pay almost $600 all together for me to be in band. That shit sucked. But we moved back here a few months back, and I talked to the band directors and they are letting me join. Especially since I’m a percussionist and they said they have lost a lot this year. God, I’m so excited.
Can you name something wrong with red or blue, I will admit, the black and green drumlines could use a fair amount of work, but give credit to the ones that deserve it
Lukes legos they aren’t playing anything hard. I wouldn’t be happy if these 2 of these groups were my bands drum line. The other 2 are just average. Most times they aren’t all together. Normally drum lines do more than just sit there and play. It’s supposed to be fun yeah but it’s also supposed to be showy. If you can watch these and tell me that the kids are together while playing or that they sound like each other (are matching the way that they play with their own drum line) out of these 4 the red and blue did the best but that doesn’t mean that they don’t have flaws
I would be happy with the 2 good drumlines as well, but we all have flaws, drumline or not, but that doesn't mean they are bad. Personally, I think the red/blue drumlines are cool, we all have our own opinion, but if you went to college drumline, you might think different (sorry for langth), and you might see them as worse. I am only freshman so I will probably see them as good
WOW, great idea! Love it! People are talking about they were dirty, but geesh the kids are fun! But, now imagine if Drum Corps or University drumlines did this!
They do do this. Constantly, it's literally part of the show. South Eastern state universities or historically black universities make their lines practice of for drum battles. You should watch those battles because it sounds better.
@@CBrown9758 When someone says that their drumming is dirty, it means that they are not in sync, like you can tell that there's more than one drummer playing without even looking. When someone says that their drumming is clean, it means that they're all in sync, sounding as though there's only one really loud drummer drumming, when it's actually multiple playing in complete unison.
YES, Evita, exactly! The joy in it was what came through! One day the teens will truly understand the importance of joy like this. It's easy to talk trash and feel regimented and competitive, but once life gets you and becomes stressful, times like these become rare and getting to have memories like this is amazing! These kids understood the reason for this, joy and play with others of their kind. And everyone joining in and dancing and reveling in it, just fantastic!
we never got into a drum battle unfortunately it must have been a new thing because I was at bellingham high when they just renovated it and was tasked with coming up with a cadence for the band to march to. was at squalicum high school the year before that basically when we just moved there from texas and I ended up running into another percussionist from texas where we did those hardcore DCI style military drills and he brought in a tape of his old marching band one day and put it in and it basically blew everyones brains out
No. I don't mind that they didn't use traditional grip. But notes were everywhere. In certain parts I can just tell no one was listening to each other as they played without caring of quality in their sound. I can go on but I'd rather not go on a full essay
If you think about it snare is like the trumpets of the group (always leading) and the bass is like the low brass (just keeps the beat going) and the quads is like the woodwinds/French horn (sometimes has leading parts but really just there to blend in and sound better)
To all those saying that the bands are horrible or "what's with no traditional grip," hear me out. I'm from the Blaine band and we have to write our own cadences during a limited time period and to master it, and other bands in my area sometimes do the same. It's hard to write our own cadences unlike a lot of bands who just find a piece and use it. Also a lot of bands don't always use traditional grip. In Blaine, we were told about it but we use the grip we use now. Also in the video, all of the band's cadences we're cut off while sehome's got their whole cadence in. Why couldn't the others play their whole cadence? We did the drum battle for fun really, so you don't have to say "These are the worst drum lines I've ever heard," Blaine starts practicing parade music roughly a month before so we don't have much time to practice. If we had more time then yes we would be better, wouldn't everyone tho, and the way we do stuff now works with us and is great. So stop ranking on the bands and drum lines in the video!
+Muffincat34560 Agreed! Btw sorry that the other drumlines were cut off, one of our drummers dad's filmed it and could get only what he could get so yeah.
I hope you know a 90° angle is like this " L " not like this " __ " I'm guessing you meant 180° angle (I'm only saying this in case someone was misinformed about your comment)
You can have an opinion on this but for fucks sake this wasn’t a “planned” event, it was literally right before a parade, and I’m not in drum line but I’m in another band from the area and I think that there’s no reason to shit on them. Sure you might not think it’s the best but the title is literal clickbait, stop taking it so seriously

Most epic clickbait battle ive ever seen
Shit got real when the red ones came in
My ears feel assaulted.
HOWEVER, it looks like they had a ton of fun, and that's what counts.
Top Secret and Blue Devils: Are we a joke to you?
Josh -Hawt Sauce are u being sarcastic
Royal Marines corps of drums:
A L I F E O N T H E O C E A N

I wonder what happens if we met up at Disney next year and we have a world wide drum battle
The band at the end were amazing, especially the two drummers with the long hair! 👌🏽

I'm glad to see them all having fun. That said, I think I drum key and a metronome are badly needed.
I think they are wonderful. Great job!!
the uniforms were the best part of this performance
The most epic drum battle requires the most epic drum lines... with that being said, good job guys!
Good Job to all the Drummers; remember playing in High School Band is to FUN and to make Memories that will last FOREVER.
Woah.... (Speechless)!!!
Incredible steady cam work!
Imagine they would have played this at medieval battles... Then there wouldn’t be enough time to fight, only time to jam
To be brutally honest, all of these drum lines need a lot of work.
Name 2 things wrong with the blue or red drumline
Lukes legos - obviously they need more work they’re kids
You’re literally the only one that didn’t think they we average or below average
Can you name something wrong with red or blue, I will admit, the black and green drumlines could use a fair amount of work, but give credit to the ones that deserve it

THIS IS POSSIBLY THE MOST BEAUTIFULL THING I HAVE EVER SEEN! # GOOSEBUMPS #
Just saw this. Wonderful! Wild to think that these teens are adults now, maybe graduates from college, married, etc.
Love to see kids battle......great job to all......kids being kids........
*sees bass drummer in blue jamming out in back* oh man, me too XD
WOW, great idea! Love it! People are talking about they were dirty, but geesh the kids are fun! But, now imagine if Drum Corps or University drumlines did this!

I don't know where this took place, but it looked like a lot of friendly competition.... Awesome
No..... please.... practice.....
If our marching band sounded anything like that we would kicked off
Same here. Except we would have to run 10 laps if the director was really gnarly
This is why high school lines need instructors. Guessing these are neighboring schools with directors who played sax and trumpet.
Best camera man ever
Excellent video. Great Drum Line!!
you're high
no way
+TheSymbolGenerator Thanks bro!
Awesome!!!!!
Most unepic bruh moment in history
Bands with the cowboy hats always got me dead
What's the name of the rhythm, bro??

Once they lines in the blue and red cane in Im like oh maybe the other two were just a joke that’s how bad the other two were
no theyre all shit
Chocala Konno. . . wait, where they college or high school marching bands?
Okay, I just read the description. How in the world can they be so Out Of Tune while the same time be so out of beat as well
What is traditional grip is it the way you hold you sticks ?
Severe Mobile yes
Holy dynamics
8:00....We all have that one friend...😂
I was about to have an anuerism about how the 2nd to last guy at 1:40 is holding his sticks like c'mon are we in middle school
My instructor would’ve never tolerated that much movement while we weren’t playing 😭
If you think about it snare is like the trumpets of the group (always leading) and the bass is like the low brass (just keeps the beat going) and the quads is like the woodwinds/French horn (sometimes has leading parts but really just there to blend in and sound better)
So sad to see so many "ADULTS" criticizing all of these hard working kids that look like they are having a good time.
Well, they really aren’t good
Verizon should use some of this footage for one of their future commercials.
