I'm mid watch right now and at 28:29 he points out (venomously) how Mukuro would feel being murdered by her own sister but Junko's next line is LITERALLY THAT POINT just chill the fuck out it'll address your feelings and it feels bad when Dan feels like he has to play into it but usually his points are still more accurate and measured. I don't hate Arin, obviously I come and watch GG everyday it's great; but christalltitty the behavior sometimes... well I guess we get what we "paid" for!

The audacity of insisting that they look "exactly the same" LITERALLY after we get a picture of fake Junko with the freckles and the different eye shape AND then the followup with "they're twins" was just baffling to me. The game literally goes "here, compare, they look slightly different and the reason they don't look more different is that they're twins" and Arin just keeps on trying to be angry.
I’ll admit, this was the part where I was shouting at the screen like “how do you think twins are born? How does the mother eject two baby heads out of her birth canal at the same time?!”

But "murder school" isn't exactly correct, that makes it sound like they teach murder at the school. Or like, the school's purpose is for murder. It's a killing game that takes place in an abandoned/discontinued school.
TBF I think this game might require even more suspension of disbelief than most other anime "mystery" games. Tho I can still see why people love it due to the quirky writing and memorable characters.
@@CypressDahlia IDK though, I feel like the game does a fairly good job of setting the tone and cluing you in to what to expect with characters like Monukuma, Sakura and Jill. It's not as if most of the game is played completely straight and just goes completely bonkers at select points--you have to stretch your credulity pretty far from the start.

(which, in some cases, is not true. a day could go by before the other twin is born, or one could be born at 11 pm and the other at 12 am and be born on separate days), the point is this is VERY common for multiples to say. "i'm the oldest by an hour" or so. the point is Arin discredits the show for being realistic in how twins and so on talk about each other's age.
The most frustrating part of watching this is how Arin assumes there are plotholes that get immediately answered around the corner. He's just looking for problems without letting things resolve. Just let it happen, dude. You're not that much smarter than the game and you're using a walkthrough.
I literally still watch this series cause of Dan, every time Arin says something just want to tell him to shut up. I've never seen someone so dead set on being wrong all the time.
He just says what comes to his mind. His Grumps persona is reactive way more than it is comprehensive. This game really walks you through stuff, and he just wants to be ahead of the curve... but as expected, fails frequently.
@@mr.redguard6702 theres a seperate mode in the game that is just dating the characters, as if the killing game never started. its so you can max out the social links you mightve missed because people died befor you could complete it.
I love that how Arin trys to play the walkthrough things off like he hasn't used a walkthrough throughout this entire game except for closing arguments even though it's obvious he has.
I really wish that Dan did his own playthroughs of the other games because it’s awesome to see him go “no fucking way”. Unfortunately they probably won’t do the other games.

Thicker eyeliner, and "smaller" eyes too. They're not same, but they're not ever shown instantly one after another in-game so unless you're paying attention you're not going to notice it that easily. (And I'm not 100% sure but I would also have to say that Junko's sprites seem to have bigger boobs than Mukoro)

He uses a walkthrough and he’s still confused. This is a baby game, it’s not hard, it’s barely a game at all, it’s just a book disguised as a game and Arin still sucks at it.
@@quantumjoss To be fair when I replayed 1 and 2 back in late october/november when they paused for ghoul grumps, I got stumped on questions that were either difficult or stupid, but I was able to figure out the most on my own. Also the order you use green bullet parts can be annoying. It’s also impressive that he’s able to do the Moment of Truth DDR mini games so well, without even needing to use the invincible ability

@@DarkAngel0805 Which makes a fair bit of sense, considering that in Japan freckles are considered an imperfection and large eyes are considered cute. It would only be natural that "Junko's" freckles would be airbrushed away and her eyes would be made to look a touch larger.
To be fair the game doesn't call attention to the freckles and I'm sure a lot of other people didn't notice that at first either (me included). It's easy to miss if you're not paying close attention to Mukuro's face. I did notice the bigger eyes tho, and I thought it was gonna be the eye color too until the real Junko reveal.
Junko mentioned very early in how all of those pictures were heavily photoshopped. It’s not that they’re actually photoshopped, that’s just an excuse for why the Junko at the school didn’t look like the Junko in the photos.
Real reason for everything is that this game is extremely poorly written. Touching up photos is what actually happens with models. They're also supposed to be twins, so the Photoshop excuse doesn't work. They also had no idea how Junko acted upon arrival. As far as everyone was concerned, they had just met for the first time. Yeah the grumps have their moments of being dumb as bricks, but people need to just admit that this game's writing is just the dumbest shit.
I like how the game never implies that Mukuro's disguise was perfect, even Makoto points that out and Mukuro says that she's photoshopped to look better on the magazines.
Yeah, it's a really great moment. That and how Mukuro was stunned that she was killed so early in the Killing Game. Those two moments are so obvious in hindsight. It was a great plot twist.

This was essentially the entire playthrough and I can't even begin to believe how I managed to make it this far. I guess I have Dan to thank for that, despite how airheaded and dumb he could be.
He never figured out the basic day one mechanic that if you click on the ? it gives you a hint. Like "the mastermind used this to frame Makoto" or whatever.
The the final argument part is basically "ok now just explain how the case happened that we just told you" and with his 2 minute attention span that part is "bullshit" and "make no sense".

My job is various kinds of production QA, I literally *have* to look for details like that, and I still go into a more passive mode when playing games or watching stories.

yeah, i 100% agree, and i had to walk away from johnny english because of that fucking VR scene. he goes around parading through town, thinking he's still on this moving platform (that stopped working) and his hand movements match his simulated ones, even though all he has are the goggles. the VR simulation replicates things hanging on the wall and has reasons for something happening to him, and it crossed the line so far for me.... and even with that being said, arin is definitely hyping up his grump persona a bit too much for this game. at least, this far into the series.
Literally the first minute of the game is a teddy bear rocketing a man to his death. The writers couldn’t have made it any more clear on what type of universe this game will be set in
Well, there are two perspectives people approach media from, and these aren't official terms, but I'll use them to explain the point. One is called External Logic. This is the perspective where you view from an outside perspective of the media. Its a more detached perspective, where you never really get immersed into what you are watching as far as the media goes. You're constantly aware that what you're playing is a game made by a team of people, or that you're watching a movie made by a director with characters played by actors speaking lines from a script. This is a good perspective to take if you want to be comedic and is also a favorite of reviewers and critics. Hence why the Game Grumps use it mostly. Videogames are videogames, stories are in books, cutscenes should be in movies because movies are movies. "This thing is funny because if you think of the voice direction" "That's not how things work in the real worldd." It's usually the favorite perspective of people who prefer stories that also work from this perspective of not taking anything seriously. The other is Internal Logic: This perspective requires you to think within the logic of the story and requires a bit more immersion. The viewer becomes more into the story, characters, and innerworkings of the universe/writing. A good example is when you focus more on how a character is/what they are, as opposed to the external logic perspective's focus on what role they serve. I'm more in this camp, so I care a lot more about the characters, and the stories in games I've played. Characters are more than just what they are, so everything hits harder to me. Short version example. External logic: Sonic is the hero, because his name is on the front of the case of the game. Internal logic: Sonic is the hero, because he doesn't sit by and just let the villains do what they want, and fights back to stop them.

I think about games, movies, books, etc., with both mindsets until I keep seeing things that make me feel less immersed into the world, so then I remember it's made by people and they made said mistake. I have no experience with actually publishing anything, so if I like it, I look past it, and I know its not easy work. Besides colour, the faces of most of the remaining students are nigh identical. I think part of the reason so many anime characters have ridiculously extravagant hairstyles is because the mangaka that drew them needed a way for their audience to tell them apart besides their extremely similar faces.

You can instantly distinguish a One Piece character from an MHA character, simply by looking at the face/eyes and the general lines/shapes used. The extravagant hair styles/colours are also just part of the whole reason manga/anime is even a thing: It's to break out of the drab everyday life and show something fantastical and cool you wouldn't encounter usually.

There is indeed several physical physical differences between Junko and Mukuro: -Mukuro has freckles and her eyes are narrower -Junko has noticeably bigger boobs.
I was really hoping at the start they'd remember the fact that the first free time conversation they had with Junko, Makoto mentions the fact that she looks different than the magazines she's featured on that were on table. She explains it nervously by claiming it's because of photo shop. Dan was so close but it still slipped their minds.

@Deaddude25 I think Arin spoiled the game for himself and just going along for Dan. I think I would of stopped watching as well during chapter two. This game is actually pretty good and Interesting. Arin gets frustrated and impatient, and he expects this game just to hand him the answers to his questions immediately.

Some people in this chat may themselves have traits common in psychopaths but understand that murder and violence is a stupid thing to do when guile and manipulation are far better tools to get what they want. I think there was a study in 2010 that concluded that many business leaders show psychopathic personality traits. They aren't murders... just arseholes :P (Wasn't actually making an argument against what you said, just wanted to bring some thoughts up about it)

It occurs to me that the ultimate soldier would naturally look for someone to issue them commands. It's almost as if Mukuro was selected specifically to be used right from the get go but I've only ever played this game so who knows maybe Mukuro was a legitimate student at one point who was only adapted to Junko's plan later.

One is clearly her entering the room and the other Junko noticing her. If someone being seen before they even enter a room is cryptic you might just be as hopeless as Arin. I am kinda shocked with him being an animator that he doesn't pick up on visual clues like that.
not only the freckles, her eyes are different, mukuro's eyes are far apart and the eyelashes are thicker and messier, also she got thinner lips that's why Junko's moth looks curvier, and Junko's nose got more shape than Mukuro's petit nose. honestly looking then from afar you cannot tell but having them side by side you can tell the look so different by all of these small details
When I first played this game I noticed Junko having freckles when you first meet her. Though in the magazine she did not, so I though it had to do with makeup since she is the ultimate fashionista. I was glad to find out later this detail was use to distinguish between Junko and Mukuro.
Yeah but comments figured it out a few episodes before he started mentioning it. It was noticeable when they suddenly started getting not only the right answer, but *quickly* (after a specific "walkthrough-like" pause).

One of the first things Makoto said when he met Junko was how different she looked from her model photos and Junko said it was photoshop and you and dan both made multiple throwback jokes to that throughout the first few hours of gameplay, Arin. Arin getting mad at the game for not remembering clues and not understanding the mechanics and mocking it with fart noises is the most Game Grumps way to play this game and I should’ve seen it coming
In this playthrough it seems like every episode Arin is trying to fit more comments and jokes in between literally every sentence. If he'd stop doing that so often he'd get more answers and each episode might actually include more game progress.
The last few episodes have me constantly thinking "Just press A already!" I don't know why Arin has so little faith that the game will answer his questions, even if they are sometimes dumb answers.

Yeah... Anime characters in general tend to be distinguished mostly by their hair (though not always of course). There's a few visible differences between Mukuro (as Junko) and actual Junko, though - Mukuro's got freckles (Junko either doesn't have 'em or keeps 'em covered up) and Junko's boobs are bigger.
Arin, Makoto did say at the start that Junko looks nothing like the pictures and she (mukoro) replied that they were photoshopped remember? You and Dan commented about how legal it is to mention photoshop

Like it's ok to not like a game, but like Dan said: "Easy dude, relax" I think we can all say that they will probably not play Danganronpa 2 which is a shame (Danganronpa 2 made so many improvements), because Dan is so into the story, but Arin's complaining, taking the game too seriously and nitpicking every little thing kinda makes this unbearable to watch from time to time 😞
I really enjoy watching these videos. If you want a chill no complaints playthrough, Game Grumps is a weird place to be looking for it. I really hope they do Danganronpa 2, they've teased pretty heavily that they will so far.

(which, in some cases, is not true. a day could go by before the other twin is born, or one could be born at 11 pm and the other at 12 am and be born on separate days), the point is this is VERY common for multiples to say. "i'm the oldest by an hour" or so. the point is Arin discredits the show for being realistic in how twins and so on talk about each other's age.

Thicker eyeliner, and "smaller" eyes too. They're not same, but they're not ever shown instantly one after another in-game so unless you're paying attention you're not going to notice it that easily. (And I'm not 100% sure but I would also have to say that Junko's sprites seem to have bigger boobs than Mukoro)

To be fair the game doesn't call attention to the freckles and I'm sure a lot of other people didn't notice that at first either (me included). It's easy to miss if you're not paying close attention to Mukuro's face. I did notice the bigger eyes tho, and I thought it was gonna be the eye color too until the real Junko reveal.
Junko mentioned very early in how all of those pictures were heavily photoshopped. It’s not that they’re actually photoshopped, that’s just an excuse for why the Junko at the school didn’t look like the Junko in the photos.

Real reason for everything is that this game is extremely poorly written.
Touching up photos is what actually happens with models. They're also supposed to be twins, so the Photoshop excuse doesn't work. They also had no idea how Junko acted upon arrival. As far as everyone was concerned, they had just met for the first time.
Yeah the grumps have their moments of being dumb as bricks, but people need to just admit that this game's writing is just the dumbest shit.

Yeah, it's a really great moment. That and how Mukuro was stunned that she was killed so early in the Killing Game. Those two moments are so obvious in hindsight. It was a great plot twist.

And thus Arin never learned that the closing argument actually hints at/tells you what to put in each frame

It's not just a dumb plot, it's some of the worst writing I've seen. Also, the game seems practically designed to minimize player participation. These comments are a carbon copy of the sonic fanbase ones, it's confusing and hilarious to see.

@@hikikouri7254 Being an animator doesn't immediately give you an eagle eye for all character details. It's a different headspace you put yourself into. My job is various kinds of production QA, I literally *have* to look for details like that, and I still go into a more passive mode when playing games or watching stories.

I can't imagine being someone who doesn't suspend their disbelief, as it is said, while playing a game or watching a movie. If it's something that's that bad, I can see pointing it out, but this is its own universe. You can't just expect things to all add up immediately to what we know.
yeah, i 100% agree, and i had to walk away from johnny english because of that fucking VR scene. he goes around parading through town, thinking he's still on this moving platform (that stopped working) and his hand movements match his simulated ones, even though all he has are the goggles. the VR simulation replicates things hanging on the wall and has reasons for something happening to him, and it crossed the line so far for me.... and even with that being said, arin is definitely hyping up his grump persona a bit too much for this game. at least, this far into the series.
Literally the first minute of the game is a teddy bear rocketing a man to his death. The writers couldn’t have made it any more clear on what type of universe this game will be set in
Well, there are two perspectives people approach media from, and these aren't official terms, but I'll use them to explain the point.
One is called External Logic. This is the perspective where you view from an outside perspective of the media. Its a more detached perspective, where you never really get immersed into what you are watching as far as the media goes. You're constantly aware that what you're playing is a game made by a team of people, or that you're watching a movie made by a director with characters played by actors speaking lines from a script. This is a good perspective to take if you want to be comedic and is also a favorite of reviewers and critics. Hence why the Game Grumps use it mostly. Videogames are videogames, stories are in books, cutscenes should be in movies because movies are movies. "This thing is funny because if you think of the voice direction" "That's not how things work in the real worldd." It's usually the favorite perspective of people who prefer stories that also work from this perspective of not taking anything seriously.
The other is Internal Logic: This perspective requires you to think within the logic of the story and requires a bit more immersion. The viewer becomes more into the story, characters, and innerworkings of the universe/writing. A good example is when you focus more on how a character is/what they are, as opposed to the external logic perspective's focus on what role they serve. I'm more in this camp, so I care a lot more about the characters, and the stories in games I've played. Characters are more than just what they are, so everything hits harder to me.
Short version example.
External logic: Sonic is the hero, because his name is on the front of the case of the game.
Internal logic: Sonic is the hero, because he doesn't sit by and just let the villains do what they want, and fights back to stop them.

Besides colour, the faces of most of the remaining students are nigh identical. I think part of the reason so many anime characters have ridiculously extravagant hairstyles is because the mangaka that drew them needed a way for their audience to tell them apart besides their extremely similar faces.

@@AdamSmith-qu5bv A certain face style also kinda makes the manga. You can instantly distinguish a One Piece character from an MHA character, simply by looking at the face/eyes and the general lines/shapes used.
The extravagant hair styles/colours are also just part of the whole reason manga/anime is even a thing: It's to break out of the drab everyday life and show something fantastical and cool you wouldn't encounter usually.

There is indeed several physical physical differences between Junko and Mukuro:
-Mukuro has freckles and her eyes are narrower
-Junko has noticeably bigger boobs.
I was really hoping at the start they'd remember the fact that the first free time conversation they had with Junko, Makoto mentions the fact that she looks different than the magazines she's featured on that were on table. She explains it nervously by claiming it's because of photo shop. Dan was so close but it still slipped their minds.

@Deaddude25 I think Arin spoiled the game for himself and just going along for Dan. I think I would of stopped watching as well during chapter two. This game is actually pretty good and Interesting. Arin gets frustrated and impatient, and he expects this game just to hand him the answers to his questions immediately.

Some people in this chat may themselves have traits common in psychopaths but understand that murder and violence is a stupid thing to do when guile and manipulation are far better tools to get what they want. I think there was a study in 2010 that concluded that many business leaders show psychopathic personality traits. They aren't murders... just arseholes :P

One is clearly her entering the room and the other Junko noticing her. If someone being seen before they even enter a room is cryptic you might just be as hopeless as Arin. I am kinda shocked with him being an animator that he doesn't pick up on visual clues like that.
To be fair I think this game would be 10x better if it was solely graphic novel, without the cheesy bullets and dance sequences

not only the freckles, her eyes are different, mukuro's eyes are far apart and the eyelashes are thicker and messier, also she got thinner lips that's why Junko's moth looks curvier, and Junko's nose got more shape than Mukuro's petit nose.

When I first played this game I noticed Junko having freckles when you first meet her. Though in the magazine she did not, so I though it had to do with makeup since she is the ultimate fashionista. I was glad to find out later this detail was use to distinguish between Junko and Mukuro.

If Arin would just click the A button he'd get the answers to his questions.
In this playthrough it seems like every episode Arin is trying to fit more comments and jokes in between literally every sentence. If he'd stop doing that so often he'd get more answers and each episode might actually include more game progress.
The last few episodes have me constantly thinking "Just press A already!" I don't know why Arin has so little faith that the game will answer his questions, even if they are sometimes dumb answers.

Yeah... Anime characters in general tend to be distinguished mostly by their hair (though not always of course). There's a few visible differences between Mukuro (as Junko) and actual Junko, though - Mukuro's got freckles (Junko either doesn't have 'em or keeps 'em covered up) and Junko's boobs are bigger.

I think we can all say that they will probably not play Danganronpa 2 which is a shame (Danganronpa 2 made so many improvements), because Dan is so into the story, but Arin's complaining, taking the game too seriously and nitpicking every little thing kinda makes this unbearable to watch from time to time 😞
I really enjoy watching these videos. If you want a chill no complaints playthrough, Game Grumps is a weird place to be looking for it.
I really hope they do Danganronpa 2, they've teased pretty heavily that they will so far.

Let's-players don't have to like the same games as you, they can openly hate something they play and make good videos from that. I 100% agree, I thought when they did the first 3 trials it was hilarious but these last 3 trials have worn me down
