I have been sewing for over 70 years. How I wish this tutorial had been available then. It is the simplest, most concise and easiest way to put in a lining I have ever seen. I am using it now for a christening dress for my first great grandchild. I have used it for 5 other garments before this one and they all turned out great. I won't ever use those awful, cheap looking facings again. Thank you for making sewing more rewarding and my granddaughter's dresses looking more professional.
I bought a pattern with awful instructions and this video SAVED ME, thank your for making it so clear. I watched another video to do the pleated skirt and came back to finish ❤
This is by far the best video I have come across . You have just saved my project for I didn’t know how else to sew up the sides seams before installing an invisible zipper . Thank you so very much .
Best video of showing and explaining step by step. I've watched loads of videos and this is the only one that made sense, gave step by step and DIDNT RUSH. Will be using it step by step on my new sewing Venture SH
The video is nicely done and I like the close up views that you supplied at the end of the video. Your instructions were verbally clear and demonstrated nicely a tailored project. Thank you.
This was the most clearly instructed video on putting in a lining I have ever seen! Simple, to the point, clearly demonstrated and verbally understandable. Thank you!
Loved your video. Instructions were very clear. I only used it to figure out how to turn the bodice with the lining, once I figured out which seems I needed to sew. Thank you.
This is the best tutorial on attaching lining to the bodice. I hope you have made the video attaching the skirt to the bodice! Loved it! I just finished lining the bodice of my dress! It looks very professional! Thank you very much!!
Lovely, I have been looking for a tutorial such as this, then I found yours! Fabulous, however, I would have liked to see you sew the other side of the zip in place. I am 76 and been sewing 70 years, starting with doll clothes and bits of torn of parachute silk when my father was stationed at RAF Church Fenton - happy days. Thank you so much for this tutorial. X x x
Exactly what I was searching for... I have a dress I need to work on it but I was really worried because I had never sew a dress with lining and I was searching so hard for a video for help but didn't find one and some how I just saw this video after searching for hours so Thank you so much for this video. Very very very much helpful 👍
Darling, it was clear and very easy to watch. It helped me and inspired me. Your dress is so cute, I would have never chosen that fabric but it is so cute. The pattern is flattering and you make it look so easy. I am learned and teaching myself. These shared videos are so wonderful! Thank you for your time and keep them coming. I would like to see how you manage a knit with double needles. Best to you.
Thank you Pat that is very kind. I too would like to see how I cope with double needles as I haven't yet to try! I use a stretch stitch on my usual sewing machine when I sew knits x
A beautiful dress. and explained clearly. However, would it,please,be possible to have a more detailed tutorial on sewing in different zip finishes,I.e. Invisible, lapped, exposed .Thank you.
Loved your video and such a great help for learning how to do a bodice lining. I’ve viewed a lot of videos and yours is by far the best. Thank you as I know this must have taken such a long time.
This was perfect. The best I've seen so far and I have searched and searched. Good close up and detail explanation. I would like to see how you attached the skirt.
I'd say this was clear enough and I truly appreciate this video tutorial. I do feel a little more confident now, confident enough to sew that lined laced dress with zipper I've been planning to do for what seems like ages. More power:-)
What a great tutorial! Thanks for taking the fear out of lining for me and I absolutely love how you encased the zipper in the lining, the finish is beautiful, exactly what I am going for. Please keep the videos coming.
Hi Rosa. Love this tutorial, you have an excellent knack of teaching and explaining! Please more of the same especially a tutorial of attaching a skirt and also how to add the sleeves ( unlined ) to a lined dress. Would love it! xx
Thank you so much, exactly what I was looking for. It's like a magin when you pulled the main fabric from underneath the liner with zipper in between 😊 I had no idea that it can be done this way. Thank you so much once again 👍
wow this is so cool! I just need to watch this videos a couple of times more because I need to learn how to do the zipper with the lining thanks for sharing
This is really nice. The whole process was alway confusing to me but thanks to you and your video, I think I can do this. I'd love to see more videos of adding linings to garments.
I'm so glad I found your video!! I'm sewing a semi formal dress for New Year's eve. It's a simplicity pattern, but I thought i was missing something. The directions just were not explaining it clear enough! This is exactly what i needed!! Thanks so much.
That was a really nice video Rosa as always! I really enjoyed it! I loved your techniques! The dress came out neat and professional looking! Thank so much! Can't wait for your next video! Happy sewing! 😘
Thank you so much for this tutorial ! Ive always had no idea how to line my outfits especially because I only knew how to finish necklines and arm holes with bias tape. This tutorial was very in depth. Thank you once again!
Thanks Rosa, I'm making the Great British Sewing Bee skater dress today which I want to line instead of the sleeves and facing...this is a great help, thank-you :)
I just came across your TH-cam channel and love it! Your video was super easy to follow. I wondered if you could show something with a panel in. I’m really struggling with new look 6447 pattern And I’d love to see you attach the skirt :)
beautiful job. I got a bit lost when it came to dealing with the lining and zip, so I will probably just cheat and overlock it together. Won't be as neat as yours, though!
Excellent video, thank you ❤ I realised that it was difficult to understitch (I was using viscose with poly-chiffon, veeerrry fidley!) at this point due to the shoulders being attached but I did it up to the point that it was becoming narrow
Thank you for a great tutorial! :) I like your style and the level of perfection when finishing your garments. Love your videos, my number one priority on my youtube watch list :D
I think this is the best tutorial I've seen on linings! Really professionally presented! I've made lots of dresses without linings, but I think it's time to try a lined bodice (facings are kinda 'meh'). Two questions: do you overlock all those internal lining seams? And, could you please do a sewing machine/overlocker review?
Thank you! I agree I am not a huge fan of facings on a bodice, it depends on what type of fabric you are using I guess. I do not have an over locker so I have to zig zag stitch my raw edges. I did have an over locker but it was terrible and never worked properly so when we moved to a smaller flat I decided to get rid of it. X
+Sewn Oh my goodness, well you really should revisit the overlocker situation. I held off buying one for the longest time, but now it saves me so much time and everything lasts longer and looks professional.
Love your videos so much, they are very clear and helpful for me, thank you so much for it! You mentioned under stitching, how does that work? Is it possible to make a video about it, I have no idea how this works. Most of the time I use top stitching.
Perfect in every way! Thank you for sharing your professional tips. Your dress fits you perfectly!👍🏽😊👑🏆I subscribed because it's a joy to see your lovely, detailed work.
Thank you that was very interesting to watch! I've never lined anything and always wonder when people say oh I just decided to line my dress how on earth it's done, I'd be interested to see how the skirt is done too, thank you 😀
Hi! Thank you, it really is simply a case of making two bodices and attaching them together! Next time I attach a skirt I will definitely film it for a tutorial :) x
Hi! Thank you, lining a bodice is definitely more simple than it sounds! Glad this video was handy. The next time I attach a skirt I will definitely film it for a tutorial :) x
Ah thank you so much for this video!! I have to line a dress for my latest cosplay and the instructions on the pattern I’m basing it off 100% melted my brain. Now I feel like I actually know what I’m doing (kinda 😂), and showing how you put in the zip was also super helpful! Thanks so much again 💕

Very helpful. I would love to see a video showing the next step, attaching the skirt, and how the bodice lining is treated in that step. Thanks
I bought a pattern with awful instructions and this video SAVED ME, thank your for making it so clear. I watched another video to do the pleated skirt and came back to finish ❤
This tutorial is absolutely perfect. Easy to understand and follow. Thank you so much for taking the time to demonstrate how this is done 🌹
This is by far the best video I have come across . You have just saved my project for I didn’t know how else to sew up the sides seams before installing an invisible zipper . Thank you so very much .

BEST tutorial on lining a bodice EVER!
SO glad to see I'm not the only one that resorts to doing projects on the floor!!!
The video is nicely done and I like the close up views that you supplied at the end of the video. Your instructions were verbally clear and demonstrated nicely a tailored project. Thank you.
Thank you so much adding a lining of facing is so much easier than hemming arm and neck holes.
This was the most clearly instructed video on putting in a lining I have ever seen! Simple, to the point, clearly demonstrated and verbally understandable. Thank you!
