Your controller has a third channel button on the right lower portion of the handle that I used for rear steer and in the bag of goodies there should be a mount for the rear steer servo but make sure to get a brushless system and metal gears for the transmission and metal driveshafts , just trying to be helpful .

When are fish the monster truck what tries
The offset rear differential is very real. Most heavy duty off-road trucks have this; makes it get hung up less often and has better torque transfer through mechanical advantage.
The MT that is actually a crawler...

Put a brushless setup in it, lock the diffs, and all of a sudden it is MUCH more fun.
Oh, and you are going to shred the trans gears and driveshafts.
That's still a good looking truck. Maybe when you come to the US you can get Dennis Anderson to sign it for ya.

I love my Grave Digger, fully upgraded to aluminum axles with locked diffs, aluminum gear box with steel gears, aluminum upper and lower links, steel drive shafts and 3 s brushless combo with aluminum rims! Looks epic and drives well and durable! Very cool Truck!👌👌👌

I was playing some of your old videos and ran across one that had you taking some burned out motors to make one good one for your XMaxx. Look up RC Vitals on TH-cam. He made a video of a guy that "timed" a brushless non-sensored motor to get the most out of it. You may want to see what kind of playing you can do with that on your RC quest for more performance. It was very informative and showed that even brand new motors come from the factory needing help. Let me know what you think and maybe we will see you or Pat showing us other videos of this hop-up how-to.
The differential is more on one side because it is used to counter the torque from the shaft? Else it might lift one wheel up easier.
Its just the axle design for ground clearance. Its the same on their ar44 axle.
Well, this is the classic axial ar60 axle wich was used on the rock racer wraith and they just kept this axle because it is just good.

lee guankiat It’s actually called an OCP (off-center pumpkin) design because it allows for higher ground clearance due to the differential being closer to the wheel

It's because they used the same axle for the Smt10 and the wraith, the ar60. For a wraith it's better to have them off to the side than in the center
the offset pumpkin is a crawler thing for clearance. They just carried their solid axle over from their rock racer. You can always put another set of scale axles under it.
Wraith, smt10, ax10 pretty much all use same setup apart from the chassis with the exception of the open diff.. I'd still love one of these though but with a son of a digga or metal mulisha body 👌👌
saw the real life Grave Digger several times- couple times back in the late 80s when he first debuted and then also a couple times in mid 2000s. in the early days GD was notorious for breaking down at events but nobody cared cuz he's the coolest. sweet looking rig you've got tho!

The diffs are off to the side to help stop torque steer. Great videos by the way!!!
Not surprised it’s that set up being an Axial. Others already commented on the different models it’s based off of. Looking forward to you actually turning it into a MT!
I've built and modded several of these trucks, most recently i had a custom chassis made to replicate Grave Digger #7. Axial is now re-releasing this through Horizon Hobby with a host of improvements and a much lower price point! However, i still love my Clodbusters much more. :D

That diff being off center is a result of cost savings measures. Those axles are the same as on a Wraith. To produce new ones just to move the pumpkin to the center would raise the cost significantly.
I have a box of parts ive been ordering for my smt10 n probably will have some build videos on it soon, u definitely wanna up the power in urs the stock is just to slow to have any fun with

I had a gravedigger rc when i was younger and it was built a lot better than the one you have, the only issues i had was the brushed motors kept burning up and the brushless motors were like $300-$400 and i couldn't afford that at the time. And i just looked it up, the one i had(and you can still buy) is by losi

Kev you can buy a cheaper grave digger body to use so you can save the kit one for shelf.
Also the axles are that way because they are the axles used on the wraith, would have cost a lot to make bespoke ones just for this model, axial share parts across models in a similar fashion to traxxas. have fun!
Also the diff lock for the wraith ect will fit this in a similar way you can use the diffs from this on a wraith if you want it to turn a bit better. try just locking the rear diff, locked front makes for more rollovers
and by moving a plug on the esc you should be able to turn off the drag brake, its like a hw 1060 esc, also try gearing it up on the std set up before brushless, it makes things explode

Marie Hill same I ordered a cheap rc car got tired of waiting for it and order a traxxas that will come sooner so by the time I start again I'll have a traxxas slash brushless 4x4 and an adventure force rock runner

I´ll be very interested to see this truck with locked diffs and more wheel-speed.
It´ll be very authentic by then - I can picture it steaming up to a tabletop jump and clearing the whole thing in one glorious leap : )

I don’t know if you’ve done this race yet but I just watched another guy take an x01 out for first ride. First he said you have to download a setup to get the 100mph second he couldn’t hardly control it without the setup and got it running 68mph and last the thing pulled so much amperage it started to melt one of the power wire leads running two 3s packs.
they do make aftermarket Centered axle housings i bought one for my axial yeti score trophy truck
Offsetting the diff pumpkin increases the center axle clearance , or you would have to go portal axle to get more..
I know this was a while ago, but I think you should buy all the different RC versions of the grave diggers and compare them. As in this one, the traxxas one and I believe losi makes one too.
Looks like a fun machine. It is interesting some of the "scale" setup it has, but modifying and upgrading is some of the fun in the hobby. Can't wait to see the xo1 since watched the tire swapping.
Had one of these , it is very slow and needs a lot of upgrades to get it going at any decent speed, seen loads of people blowing these up by adding faster motor , so went back to Xmaxx. Parts are a nightmare too but good luck Kev.

I could be wrong but I think they offset the diff for better performance on the Rc,a hair more clearance in the center of the axle? Are you going to lock the diffs?

I got a new brake Grave Digger in for Christmas and my dad put a pair of Lego lights in where the sticker lights are and put a battery pack in the back so you can turn it on and off
I know you aren't into buggiess much but would you consider trying the Arma Typhon v4 6s (3s isnt made as strong)? I would love to hear your thoughts on it and it's a great basher for a buggy!

Is it possible you're supposed to feed the battery connector first, then connect it, then slide the battery in last? Speaking of which, I think it would jump better with weight bias to the rear...maybe sliding the battery back a bit would make that happen. A big yes for rear-wheel steering. If you're going pro, you'll need to pratice ;)

it does jump fairly realistically. moving the shocks might prove difficult because of the cantilever arms on the back
You could program that Tactic remote for rear steering. The push buttons on the handle are channel 3.

@@KevinTalbotTV If you pull the throttle forward,turn the steering right and then switch on the controller the light will be off. Then you can use the buttons to adjust the end point of each control also. To adjust EXP once you have it in program mode pull the throttle or brake and at the same time push the up or down button the light will blink each time you push the button.

Do a review on the Dromeda short course truck all seem dirty cheap to you because it’s $100 but it’s not dirt cheap for us it’s expensive for us and it’s really durable don’t think I can break it is water I have one I put on some jumps I wouldn’t break
Looks like a Moster jam Grave Digger RC Axial smt10 thinking about getting one hear they not bad out of box I've heard just needs sway bar in front and bigger tires and brush less mortar..$299 I think is price..2020 version...
I wouldn’t say it needs bigger tires they’ll rub on the lower links and get stuck whenever steering
Forgot to mention adding a brushless system will make this truck 20x more fun. But upgrade the driveshafts the stock ones will start to bend with brushless system

It's a axial bomber/ wraith/ yeti rear axle the company's that sell centered diff axles
idea, take this, mod the 4stroke engine on it, and the bottom thinner, 3d model pumpkins, print em out, get em made from metal, and boom done its fully scale

I would say use the esc from the rustler on 3s it will help a lot
You can use a graphite pencil to write in the connectors a little bit for it to be easier to plug in

The axles have an offset diff and the shocks are mounted to the links because they are all just standard Axial parts bin parts. Axial Wraith to be specific 😉
Jconcepts makes some super scale looking monster truck wheels and tires that look really good on the smt10.
Put an axial spool in the rear and thick oil in the front for a posi in the front.
You can buy locked diffs for the Smt10. I have locked diffs on my axial bomber.
Funny you said that it drives like a crawler. I noticed that the diffs, linkage and shock angles reminded me of the WLToys Bridge Crawler. Hmm...
From being an owner, u need wheel wideners for the front, u should buy aluminum driveshafts, and u need a faster motor for better bashing.
The reason the axle pumpkins are off to the side is because it uses wraith axles, and the wraith has off centered diffs
Make it 4s capable because I've seen people run it on 4s before if you look it up on TH-cam search you will probably find it

When you build your monster truck you should get a new body for the Rc that matches it and paint the roll cage thing on the Rc black to match it will be pretty cool to have a mini version of your real monster truck

those axles are the ar60 axles that are in a lot of their rock racers so it would have costed them more to make the center diff ones. plus they already had those axles
When I got mine first thing I did was ordered a extra body lol, gonna have to do the same again when my lossi grave digger arrives

I put 8”x4” tires on and this truck handles great with rear steering and do more of the tricks like moon walk .the plastic gears and gearbox is the only down fall for this Awesome monster truck.

I have a axial yeti score, same axles back on that. And it also came with low gearing. 23km/h out of box with 2s lipo. So gear up and change motor

Hi Kevin, I'd really like a proper monster truck like this. The Smt10 doesn't seem to be available in the uk and they're not currently shipping out of the USA. I'm on a fairly low budget but can you recommend an alternative monster truck like the Smt10? Thanks..
