- Senator J.D. Vance (R-OH) delivers a keynote address at the Quincy Institute's "A Foreign Policy for the Middle Class: Realism & Restraint Amid Global Conflict" conference in Washington D.C.
JD Vance challenges the conventional wisdom in foreign policy and military operations, emphasizing the need to prioritize the American middle class's interests. He argues that the US should build alliances with countries that benefit its own interests, rather than overcommitting to dependent client states. Vance stresses the importance of a strong economy at home to inform and execute a foreign policy that benefits the middle class.

As a Trump fan I actually never heard of this guy before today, but man he is a great speaker. I’m glad Trump made a solid choice, the dems are already trying to dig up every spec of dirt about this guy, as they would for anyone trump would pick, but listening to him talk and hearing his opinions I can tell he wants what is good for America and its economy. Particularly impressive is Vance's assessment of Israel and the Middle East. I am just back from Israel where I met with Christians terrified that Israel will one day vanish, which will leave them at the mercy of the Jihadis. Many of these Christians, particularly the Maronites in the North are volunteering to serve in the IDF, despite huge pressure and persecution from their Arab Muslim neighbours. These people of course have zero coverage in our Islamophile, grievance-morality based and ultra-leftist media.

The promised land of the Old Testament is no longer mentioned in the New Testament, but the Kingdom of God is. That is what is important. John the Baptist, St. Paul, and Jesus all warned that not everyone of Israel, is Israel.

If you say in Israel (or in a Jewish community in the US…) that “Jesuschrist, our Lord and Savior, was born, raised and killed in Israel”, most probably and in the best case scenario your bodyguards will need to take action to protect you… And that even without putting any special weight in the part “killed”…. China is already the largest economy using Purchasing Power Parity, and Russia is now larger than Germany. Both our fault, true, but also not necessarily a problem.
China isn't just larger it's 50% larger than the US. It's already 1.5x our size and growing as fast as ever. They already are leading in about half of the most critical technologies and right behind us in the rest. As far as industrial economy goes, they already are #1, in fact they have more industrial output than the next 9 countries combined. It's not called the workshop of the world for nothing. The US only accounts for 17% of China's exports which is 2.7% of China's GDP. You have to give some credit to the Chinese for actually building a country, unlike India, a country with a similar population.

As a Canadain I think Donald Trump has picked a wonderful running mate that will bring prosperity to the American people and the US.
Good speech. I think he is wrong about some things, like overlooking the problems within Israel and the need for Ukraine and the west to win against Russia. But overall he did a good job articulating coherent ideas. America will be stronger abroad if we are stronger at home, and he calls out companies like Apple for giving good American technology to China. He also largely avoided the tired trope of pointing fingers at "liberals" and "Democrats"--meaning he made a stronger case for the ideas themselves rather the politics. I might vote for this guy if he was running for president.
The appointment of Sen Vance as R VP nomination is a career ender for Mr Vance. If Trump loses in November he'll blame Vance. If he wins, he'll blame him down the track for all Trump's inevitable failures
The last 40 years of foreign policy, like it or not, has made USA the most powerful and richest nation in the history of the world. No other empire has had military forces based in 100 countries and operates with impunity across space, air and oceans. USA foreign policy which at times has not always put America first has ensured that USA's allies have stayed loyal and potential enemies have been deterred. Foreign policy has not been ideal but tinker with the long-term benefits at your peril. By the way, I lived in Iraq from 2004 to 2012; the christian community was largely removed and many killed destroyed but to say a MILLION Christians were slaughtered is nonsense

In Budapest memorandum USA PROMISED protection for Ukraine if they would give up their atomic weapons. Ukraine fulfilled their end of the deal, now it is the USA’s turn to do it. 🤦🏼♀️
As a Jew I support what Vance said completely. (I'm Canadian and wish our leaders thought the same way). With a Trump administration promoting this Israeli/Sunni partnership in policing the region it would potentially solve a lot of problems Israel is having; like what to do with Jew-hating Palestinians who really don't want a state of their own and never did. If they were allowed to go to Sunni Arab countries it would solve the problems in Gaza and Judea/Samaria. It would also allow the Palestinians to follow their faith without the murderous applications that Iran and its proxies (like Hamas and Hazbollah) force upon them. Another thing: I've been researching the persecutions that Jihadi Muslims do to Christians. It's horrible. And Vance is right. Why hasn't this been acknowledged by the US govt and something done about it? For some examples of Christian persecution go to The Gatestone Institute and research Muslim persecution of Christians and other minorities. Finally, we need to support the Kurds and Persians living in Iran who are being persecuted by the Jihadi regime there. Maybe an Israeli/Sunni alliance could address this, too.
