    Can I download the readonly/event videos to my NAS server automatically when ever my dashcam is connect to my home wifi. Ie everytime I get home after a drive, then the camera will then upload the important videos to my NAS while parking the car?

    the cloud feature while the car is in motion would really be useful for fleets so a dispatch can monitor the location of its vehicles.

    My Chrysler Pacifica has a builtin wifi hotspot that I have not yet enabled. If I do enable it and link it with my DR900, how do I ensure my vehicle's battery is not drained? Is there a way to connect the vehicle's hotspot with a B-124 battery backup?

    • @BlackVueOfficial
      @BlackVueOfficial  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello and thank you for choosing BlackVue. The B-124 does not include a USB port. However, you could use a third-party accessory like this one: www.amazon.com/Cateck-Cigarette-Splitter-Display-Compatible-Suitable/dp/B07HMR736H/ (please note that this is just for example, as we do not endorse this product specifically). Alternatively, the B-112 (Power Magic Battery Pack) includes 2 USB ports. Thank you.

    I agree with all the comments below , false advertising, I assumed you could view footage from inside the home or anywhere but not the case.
    I sat for hours watching useless tutorials and tried passwords to log in with no luck , was advised to get a dongle which again would require powering up which defeats the purpose.
    Then there is the hidden cost of a monthly subscription, no mention on website when purchasing from Halfords.
    On a positive note it works well when viewing footage inside the car and can save the clips.

    Uhhh, so it's not really "cloud" unless you buy a separate device. And you can't use the phones wifi and BlackVue wifi at the same time. Bad design.

    • @BlackVueOfficial
      @BlackVueOfficial  6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hello, could you specify what you mean by "can't use the phone's wifi and BlackVue wifi at the same time"? You can connect to your BlackVue in direct Wi-Fi even while it is connected to the Cloud. The Cloud connectivity is a free optional feature and yes, an internet connection (usually mobile LTE Wi-Fi router) is required for the dashcam to connect to the Cloud. It is true that a SIM card reader and LTE radio could be added inside of the dashcam but that would increase the device's cost (including for users who do not want to use the Cloud) and users would still have to subscribe to a data plan. Thank you.

      Hello, to set it up with the BlackVue App, you should be in range of your dashcam. If you plan to have the dashcam connect to your home WiFi, the BlackVue should also be in range of your home WiFi (or your mobile WiFi router if you want your dashcam to be always connected to the Cloud). Do you have an estimate of data usage for the Cloud Service?? My new GM car has both a builtin WiFi Hotspot that frankly I have not been using and I also have a Verizon WiFi Hotspot I only use when traveling that I could leave connected in the car. I suppose I can try each for a month and see which is the most economical but if you have that data, it would be great to post it up. Verizon is about $15/GB extra. I will check with Onstar and see what their usage charges are for their built in hotspot.

      Hello and thank you for your interest in BlackVue Over the Cloud. We have info regarding data consumption on this page: www.blackvue.com/blackvue-over-the-cloud/#remote-live-view-data. As long as you only use it for alert push notifications and the occasional remote Live View session, data consumption is fairly low. Thank you.

    Can this work using a paired iPhone in the car? So, if my wife is driving the car and I've set it up, the BlackVue would get to the cloud via her connection and I'd be able to view video from my iPhone or desktop by logging in to the cloud account? Vice versa if I'm driving the car and she wants access to the BlackVue? I like the cloud feature but don't want to have to pay a monthly fee to connect a portable wifi device to the internet via what must be a LTE connection?

    • @BlackVueOfficial
      @BlackVueOfficial  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello, the BlackVue can be configured to connect to 3 different Wi-Fi hotspots. You can set your iPhone and your wife's iPhone to act as hotspots.
      How to do this:
      Note that these steps will be easier if you have both your phone and your wife's phone while setting up.
      The steps below assume you have just one phone.
      Turn on your phone's "Personal hostspot" option and write down the SSID (=network name) and password. To use your phone as personal hotspot so your camera can connect to the Cloud through it, you must first connect to your dashcam in direct Wi-Fi connection from your phone's Wi-Fi menu (currently default password is blackvue). Then go to the WI-FI menu in the BlackVue App > Gear icon > Cloud settings > Cloud service hotspot setting > in there, enter manually the hotspot SSID and password that you wrote down earlier. THIS IS IMPORTANT: since you are connected to your dashcam in Wi-Fi, your phone will probably not show up in the list of available network. For this reason, you must have written down the SSID and password as mentioned above. Tap OK then go back until a popup asks you to Save and close or Quit without saving. Choose "Save and close". The new settings will be applied and the camera will reboot. Now the tricky part. Because your phone was connected to your dashcam in Wi-Fi, it might try to connect again as soon as the dashcam's Wi-Fi is back online. You should deactivate Wi-Fi on your phone and then turn your Personal hotspot option back on in the phone. Then you can go to the BlackVue App's BLACKVUE CLOUD menu. Your camera should automatically connect to the Cloud via your phone (your phone should show that a device is connected to it) and the dashcam's icon should turn blue.
      Thank you.

      *Beware and be warned.*
      Blackvue DOES NOT support their products - you won't get timely or effective technical support when something goes wrong. This is a known fact by those of us who own Blackvue cams and have had persistent problems that no one at Blackvue will own up to and/or solve. When you buy a Blackvue camera you are literally on your own when it fails to perform as Blackvue claims. Wifi, Cloud, Video Streaming - none of them are ready and none of them are stable. Video clarity is less than cameras that cost 2-3 times less.
      The camera looks awesome at first glance. The moment you need help with solving problems that cause it not to function properly you will find out how quickly Blackvue abandons you and refuses to acknowledge your communications with them.
      I'm not a hater. I actually own the Blackvue 650S and cannot in good conscious recommend either the camera or the company - because it simply will not stand fully behind its product nor offer the customer the support they deserve and need. I simply cannot recommend a buy here.

    The following is from the Blackvue Support pages. Unfortunately part 2 and part 3 are directly contradictory statements. 2. says won't connect if a password/login is required. 3. says it won't connect to any router which has no password/login. Totally confusing to me.
    2. Dashcam won’t connect to any router which requires login and password, most open networks have this criteria. If you want to connect to an open network, you need to contact the network admin and request them to register dashcams MAC address in their system for it to automatically connect to open Wi-fi routers.
    3. In order for the dashcam to connect to any router, there should be an SSID and password. Dashcam won’t connect to any router which has no password or SSID.

      Hello, thank you for pointing this out. We notified the Support team. It should say for no.2: "won't connect if a username is required". Thank you.

      I got my dr750s-2ch ir to connect to my phone's mobile hotspot set without a password. I tried to have a password but it wouldn't connect so I set it open. It connects automatically a couple minutes after the dashcam starts up with a voice notification (which can be turned off).
      I don't leave my phone in the car so I can't say if it connects in parking mode, but when I turn my car off the dashcam powers off and hotspot disconnects, even with the power magic pro. It's only been a couple days since I installed the power magic pro so I'm not sure exactly hoe parking mode works because by all appearances the dashcam is simply off when I turn my car off.
      I'm in the process of doing research right now to figure out how over the cloud works and everything else. What I want to know is if videos are automatically uploaded when connected to a hotspot. If it's only useful for remote viewing then I probably won't bother with it.

  • @pkincy
    @pkincy 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    It is still totally confusing as to how the cloud works. Let's assume the DR900S is in parking mode. To work with the cloud the WiFi hotspot needs to be on. So either the Cars WiFi hotspot would need to be on constantly or the mobile hotspot would need to be plugged into the car and on constantly. Those things get quite hot when they are working. I may try plugging it in the console USB and see if it will operate 24/7, but I kinda doubt it. I am not even sure that USB port is an always on port. And if it is than we have a constant draw on the cars battery in addition to the DR900S in parking mode. And that additional draw would make the parking mode less effective as it would add an additional battery drain. I hope I am wrong but it appears to me to be a solution that only works if the car is parked near another external WiFi hotspot it can access if parked for any length of time. Say at an airport while on a multi day trip.

      @Pkincy some cars come with internet/wifi ready so you can connect it to that or you can get a router that is made for cars and it will turn on/off with the ignition of the car. I have a company that provides them and the cost is around $200 it gets installed inside your dashboard. the monthly data plan I am still trying to figure out how much it will be. I am waiting for balckvue to let me know how much data does the camera uses on average. I will also start some testing on my own next week.

    Very frustrating experience to set up the dashcam to connect the cloud directly thru smart phone vs. a separate router. It is moronic to think that your average person would pay for a dedicated hotspot for a cloud service that adds an additional monthly cost. Why couldn't you use bluetooth in order to use a smartphone LTE connection? Blackvue is an expensive product that is hamstrung due to it's poor design and even worse user guides and online tutorials. May have to return this $500 dashcam as it does not live up to expectations.

    • @BlackVueOfficial
      @BlackVueOfficial  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hello Tony, thank you for choosing BlackVue and sorry if you had trouble with the Cloud setup process. Please note that the Cloud is an optional add-on service. It is true that the Cloud service is designed to work with a dedicated mobile router left in the car (or a fixed Wi-Fi connection in range of the dashcam when parked). This is because it is designed primarily to let you get Push Notifications--for example when an impact is detected by the dashcam in your parked car--and let you view instantly and remotely what's going on around your car. The choice of Wi-Fi over Bluetooth was made because of higher bandwidth (to download or back up videos over the air, for example). May we ask how you were planning to use the Cloud feature? Thank you.

    • @tonyrobson2057
      @tonyrobson2057 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      We bought the device for a new teenage driver. We would like to be able to remotely monitor driving and ensure we have a back-up of video should the camera be stolen. Regardless of throughput, by limiting internet connectivity to the camera you've essentially removed one of the more attractive features of the dashcam making it very difficult to justify the price when we could have purchased a different device for less than half the price.

    • @BlackVueOfficial
      @BlackVueOfficial  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you for your follow-up. It is surely tricky to set up a phone as the hotspot for your dashcam but not impossible. You’ll have to first take note of your teenager's phone’s network name (SSID) and password, then connect to the dashcam via Wi-Fi and register your teenager's phone as hotspot under Firmware settings > CLOUD > Cloud Hotspot.... Then you will have to make sure the phone doesn’t connect to the dashcam in WiFi afterwards, as it would make it lose the internet connection (and as a result the dashcam would lose the Cloud connection). Finally, make sure to register the dashcam to the Cloud server via the BLACKVUE CLOUD menu of the app. Once this is done and your teenager is in the car (presumably with their phone with hotspot function activated), you will be able to access Live View and other Cloud features via the Cloud menu of the app on your phone. Thank you.

    • @BlackVueOfficial
      @BlackVueOfficial  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello, the setup to use your phone as the hotspot is similar, except you will likely not see your phone in the list of available hotspots when connected to the BlackVue in Wi-Fi (as necessary to add the hotspot). In that case, you need to make note of your phone hotspot SSID (network name) and password and manually enter both. You could also use another device to do the setup while your main phone is sharing its internet connection. This way, your phone/hotspot would be visible in the Wi-Fi hotspot list. Thank you.

    I don't get it. what's the purpose of the cloud in the black Vue systems?

    • @BlackVueOfficial
      @BlackVueOfficial  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      For the individual user, BlackVue Over the Cloud is an advanced remote car monitoring system. It's a totally optional service that lets you connect your BlackVue to the Cloud, so that you can manage your camera from anywhere, check real time feed from your BlackVue rear and front camera), and receive notifications to your phone in case of Events. For example, if the BlackVue senses an impact while your car is parked, it can alert you. The same if the BlackVue gets disconnected from the Cloud, or when the camera enters/exits Parking Mode.
