Thank you Spencer, for posting this video I bought the Blackvue 400G-HD ll camera with built in GPS tracking in 2012 for $500.00 alone with the Power Magic Pro for $60.00 as soon as it came out from Pittasoft. And a Audio Tech charged me $200.00 to install it. I have to buy a new Dash camera now, because Blackvue no longer supports their built in GPS tracking software and I have to have it for my car because of work. I love my Blackvue camera, I think they are the best camera on the market. But I'm very disappointed in them for discontinuing the software figure that I purchased. So I'm forced to buy another Blackvue GPS camera just to have that figure. But I won't have pay an installer $200.00 to install it, this time. Thanks to you posting this video I feel confident enough to do it myself. Thank you again Spencer! Your the Best!
Mosell Mosel hey, I’m super happy to hear my video helped you and maybe saved you a little $!! I’m sorry about how they don’t support the gps software on an older model though, that’s kinda worrying but maybe they’ll change that sometime or maybe the new generations and technology doesn’t have the same problem!? Really glad my video helped though man, good luck on the install! If you run into any trouble feel free to message me here or instagram! (My email is also in my TH-cam information!)
Nice video, thank you. My 750S2ch with power magic pro should be here in the next couple days. I'm debating on the DIY install or having it 'professionally' done. ('16 Taurus SHO).
Thanks for the video. I just got mine in the mail today and will be installing tomorrow on my '16 Mustang GT. Was worried about doing the install myself even though I'm mechanically inclined but this video helped a ton.
Nice video! I am actually torn on having this one professionally installed but your guide seem to be the easiest to follow so far. My only concern is that my car has been installed with remote starter so for the power, I might go for the OBD cable and install the long cable for the back
PowerWirering... Mount the camera first... Hide the powercable in the panel.. And all the left over cable can be place at the fuses like the other part
Hello; just wanted to reach out to you as I actually just installed my DR750S-2CH tonight. For the front camera I completely removed the A pillar on the front and ran the wiring down the electrical wire inside the A pillar which I then zip tied to it and down into the dash. For the rear camera (this is what I would like your opinion on) I ran the wiring down the passenger side A pillar and zip tied the wire to the electrical wiring that was in that area as well. I then ran the wire down into the plastic trim paneling on the floor side and in up the B pillar inside the wether stripping which I then ran to the rear camera inside the wether stripping. I didn't want to run the wiring the full length of the weather-stripping cause 1 that leaves excess wiring and 2 I believe that it could interfere with the airbag deployment. Do you believe either your way or mine would interfere with the airbag? Thanks
Very nice! Well, it's hard to tell forsure if it will interfere with the airbags but the way I've placed mine first off is loose so if the airbag goes off nothing is really keeping the wire there, so the wire might either come out, probably be blasted to the side, (or perhaps hit me, which would probably not be good, but it's only a very small wire). I'd avoid placing it directly ontop of the airbag (you can see when you take the pillar off) or crossing over the airbag in any way (I crossed-over at the very top you can see in my vid) so that is honestly as good as I imagine I can get it!!
Yo dude! Haha yeah! Did you pick up the powermagic pro kit and everything? It's such an awesome camera, I still need to do an official review video but it's awesome, like there's nothing negative I can come up with except for the fact it drained my battery once lol.. but that's my own fault really, the camera is awesome. Install is easy shouldn't take you too long! If you need help or anything feel free to message me dude!
Yeah, I picked up the Power Magic Pro Hardwiring Kit as well. Got a sweet $300 deal from Massdrop.com last month so just had to go for it. I'll let you know how it goes. Cheers! :)
I have like a sun tint at the top of my windshield. I want to mount it high up so it’s a clean look and unseen but it’s gonna effect the video. What do u recommend I do?
In my BMW 5 I have fuse box and battery above right rear wheel, in your opinion power cable from front camera is long enough to go across whole car to the back? Its the only place where I can mount magic box.
I am looking into purchasing the Blackvue dr900s 2ch camera and my research has led to some further questions about whether the power magic pro or the power magic ultra battery is the way to go. I plan on utilizing parking mode as this is one of the main reasons I am interested in this product. My vehicle is a 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland. My question, is it possible to operated these two parking mode addons together. My rationalization is to hard wire the power magic pro to the fuse box (accessory/direct power) then connect the ultra battery to the "pro". The camera would then be connected to the ultra battery. When the car is turned off I figure the power magic pro will send power to the ultra battery until low voltage cut off kicks in then the battery would kick in when this happens. This is all in an attempt to extend the hours of use in parking mode. Is this plausible or safe for me to attempt?
Hope to get a reply. By default what did the BMP kit fuse tap fuse rating come with, 20amp or vary car to car (18" BRZ)? Its for the camera right to prevent potential eletrical/fire issue I don't want to pay a guy to install since I last paid them for 1 car which only took 30min for them to complete, I have the wiring hidden in the car for the BlackVue 750 2ch
Man I really appreciate you I was able to set up this up this was pretty easy I was nervous at first but follow you made it easy I almost was about to take t to the professional but not needed.
How you liking it so far, do you have to remove the SD card every now and then to delete the old videos, or does it autoerase when near full capacity? Have eyesight on my 17 impreza so not sure how it will work. Can't mount anything on glass infront of cameras, maybe mount it behind the mirror? idk gotta do some research though.
Yup! It does, I have it set to I think 12.2V and 12 Hours just for now to see!!! I don't ever leave my car really for more than 8 hours overnight or in the day anyways! :)
This helped me with the install of the same dashcam in my 2018 WRX. Question for you. Does the end of the cable that plugs into the rear camera go in all the way? In other words, do you see part of the gold end of the connector after you plug it into the rear camera? My rear camera seems to work fine, but about 1/8" of the connector is visible when it's pushed in as far as it will go.
for some reason my power magic pro wont turn on wired the acc to the cigarette fuse and constant to door lock did i do something wrong the led doesnt turn on
How can you put the rear cam on top of the tint. Either it’s on it or not. This is one of the reasons I didn’t get the rear camera on my blackvue because I heard from other TH-camrs that it takes the tint right off when you remove the 3m backing.
I've had all of mine ontop of existing window tints on my vehicles (my Subaru's, WRX, and Tacoma). With that being said it is a very valid point you've made, if you want to ever remove your dashcam - you need to know what you're sort of doing to avoid ripping your tint off, aswell. (Now, if you have good quality tint that was professionally installed that's also important to keep in mind - crappy tint brands/ applications will be easier to rip off.) So when you go to REMOVE a dashcam that's been 3M'd ontop of a tinted window - you need to be slow, and very careful, and the KEY is using a little bit of heat. Don't use your mom's blow-dryer. You need a decent heat-gun, low setting mode, and go slow, it shouldn't take more than 10 - 20 seconds honestly, and you just carefully heat the 3M part where the dashcam mount connects and then 1) you can use a pry tool to get between the window (with tint) and the dashcam, I recommend proper trim tool (plastic) to avoid damage, and 2) you can also use some fishing line to cut behind the 3M from the dashcam backing mount and get between window and mount. I've successfully installed and removed I'd say a dozen 12+ dashcams on top of window tint. I've even done a 4 channel setup once with dashcams on passenger side windows (which were obviously fully tinted, haha) - video somewhere here on my channel.
Really different question....what is the red button? I've seen those as options in some dashcams to trigger emergency record. But you never mentioned that so I figured maybe that's not what they are.
Hey Spencer, I want to install this on the back window of my 2017 Dodge Ram Truck, but the back window, as in all trucks, is vertical and not slanted like your WRX's back window was. Will this camera adjust for that?
Hey man, YES ~ The camera can rotate 360 degrees in the housing for the rear, can work for any angle. I actually sold this Subaru a few months ago, so check out my new Tacoma truck dash-cam "ultimate setup" where I did this. th-cam.com/video/WreYUzaIOy4/w-d-xo.html
2:45 in the video I show I used the 12V ACC to the "on" power, and the Door Locks for the "constant" power (which still powers when the vehicle is turned off). There are several fuses you can use, though. Many of them work, and I believe even a few of the blank ones are constant power.
Good instructive video. 2 questions- do the fuse taps come with Power magic pro pack? And re the cloud capability, any privacy issues with viewing other users GPS location, speed, location, etc?

Hey Spencer! so If I have the power magic pro paired with this dash cam and I turn the switch to off on the power magic pro itself will the dash cam only power on when I turn on the car? I like the parking mode feature but only want to have it recording at unfamiliar places and not on all the time so I’d like to be able to control that feature if I could. Thanks!

Danielle Mcc nope! I just tucked the wire in the top, which is good! You could try removing the pillar too, but if you just go within the very top less than a few mm’s down, no problem.
I tried doing it myself on my 19 wrx Didn’t work I had no power to the camera and got a warning light saying “MFD needs to be checked” Just going to take it the pros lol
Must of did something wrong with the fuses. triple checked my manual for locations did a test was able to get the magic box light to turn on. hopefully you got it set up by then.
UPDATE: If you have a 2018 WRX or STI you need to order the SMALL fuse taps. I ordered the mini ones at first like suggested and they didn't even come close to working. Had to run to NAPA and got lucky they had the Small fuse taps in stock. 👌
Dash cams are necessary now. Accidents, theft, police. I wonder how install is on cars with the driver assist cameras. I wish auto manufacturers built them into rear view mirrors.

So how much to install mine if I get one lol
When you cross the pillars, are the wires exposed?
Danielle Mcc nope! I just tucked the wire in the top, which is good! You could try removing the pillar too, but if you just go within the very top less than a few mm’s down, no problem.
@@SpencerHogg thank you!
doing mine in a wrx too. thanks for the video so i dont have to use my brain 🤣🤣
Is the power magic pro needed with the 490L?
I'm not sure sorry!
I tried doing it myself on my 19 wrx
Didn’t work I had no power to the camera and got a warning light saying “MFD needs to be checked”
Just going to take it the pros lol
Must of did something wrong with the fuses. triple checked my manual for locations did a test was able to get the magic box light to turn on. hopefully you got it set up by then.
You didn’t show how to put the wire in the airbag part which is what the hardest bit is
1:45 what fuse was on the wire tap? the orange fuses?
Did you ever figure this out?
Please help! Who can test dr750s for 256gb card support?
Nice Subaru :)
Thx dude!
Crappy installation with a fuse tap. Just add a new fuse in the fusebox. And use a soldering connection for wiring in stead of crimp connectors.
Great idea
Link to fuse taps on amazon? For 2015 sti pls?
Here you go, Blackvue sells them on their Amazon store so this is directly from them!! amzn.to/2H0kIL4
MAKE SURE IT'S THE *"MINI"* VERSION ONLY.
NinjaxBart Do I need to buy these fuze taps? Don't they come with the magic pro?
The answer is no. They do not come with it so I'm glad I ordered them lol. ;)
UPDATE: If you have a 2018 WRX or STI you need to order the SMALL fuse taps. I ordered the mini ones at first like suggested and they didn't even come close to working. Had to run to NAPA and got lucky they had the Small fuse taps in stock. 👌
About to do the install myself on my 2018 WRX, by SMALL fuse do you mean the "Low-profile mini" fuse tap?
Dash cams are necessary now. Accidents, theft, police. I wonder how install is on cars with the driver assist cameras. I wish auto manufacturers built them into rear view mirrors.
I need a new dashcam...🤔
You need one bro!! I get some peace of mind leaving my car anywhere!
I would expect that you will install the cameras 1st, run the cables and stick the remaining cables under the dash not under the liner. 🤦♂️
What happened to the review
ahhh its coming I just haven't had the chance to actually compile all the footage yet I want to show but should be this month I hope!
NinjaxBart, i truly hate this video! WAY too easy to follow and understand!
What are you stuck or confused on? There's literally only 2 wires and 2 fuses, couldn't be easier!
@@SpencerHogg oh my, I'm being sarcastic. It' was a compliment from me. Good video, it's easy to follow, straight forward and direct instruction video. Nice car btw
@@minbajunid Hahahaha ya fooled me bud
@@minbajunid Thank you! :D
