Your welcome 😊 yes the sounds are great, one of the problems for me is the polyphony. Whenever I play a lot of sounds the sound became cut & loss, the other is the weight, at 10 kg it seems not too heavy but compared to MODX7 which is 76 keys and also 7,8kg it's quite challenging to be mobile with the MO6..
I have had MO6 for about 10 years I think it took me that long to understand all the modes of operation. Thanks for this video it shows how comparable the instruments are and how good sounding these older motif sounds were. I think Yamaha has really stayed with the same system from the initial motif for many years now just expanding the wave rom and working mainly on those rom samples and updating the hardware as new displays become available. The sonic improvements over the years have been very incremental as we see in your video. The MO6 is definitely a great machine for a musician that has to carry around his keyboard.
Yes can't agree more, I previously had Yamaha MOXF6 & upgraded to this MODX7, later on I found a quite cheap Yamaha MO6, somehow I found the sounds to be more thick & wide than MOXF6 but it's a little bit more heavy, so I grabbed it & it's proven to be useful for my sound palette 😊👍
I played on a Piaggero NP30 few month ago and its same main grand piano sound was more characterisic like my older MO8. The wave ROM chip in Piaggero is just 8MB, but its keyboard gave a wider dynamic responses too.
I once thought about buying Piaggero series but end up thinking somehow I will need 88 weighted keys, so when the time comes I search for lightweight stage piano & end up with Casio PX560 😊 but when my friend offer me Yamaha MODX7 in mint condition I can't resist to buy it also for the 76 keys 😄 now with its 7,8 kg weight I guess it's my most often brought keyboard to gigs! 👍
I agree, that Mo6 sounds awesome. I have Modx, Moxf, and sometimes can play on Mo6. Mo6 keys is much better, and sounds very good. I don't know why....
@@guioc_ tô com ele ainda sim. O teclado é muito top, os timbres dele são lindos demais. Por coincidência coloquei pra vender ontem, mas por causa do peso dele de 21kg. Mas atualmente uso ele na igreja.

Yes, can't agree more 👍 unfortunately I found that not all the sounds in MO are in MODX so I guess I'll have to keep both 😊 the main problem of MO is the polyphoni, when you have many sounds layered it's a great barrier for you to play big chords..
@@ochisalat That would be a problem if you relay just on the MO and MO only. But, in my case, I have gotten a stage piano Kurzweil and the Triton Karma.. plenty of options to construct thicker sounds.. yet not decided if getting thid MO6 or the Roland XP50. I would get the Yamaha coz thinking of getting ride off my old Sy22. Opinions? Txs.

For some of these MO 6 patches for example “ Romance “ where are they on the keyboard? I love how you have it all sounding. What did you do to get it to sound so good?
Yes I also found some patches that are exist in MO6 buat nowhere to found in MODX, which somehow dissapoint me mainly because I'm a preset player 😄 anyway back to your question, if what you mean to sound so good as in this video I just use my Roland Go Mixer Pro connected to my Android phone, it's just as simple as that
All sounds are original, I'm kind of a preset player 😁 I don't do much editing, in my opinion a keyboard should sound good right out of the box, I guess the sounds are not of a much different than Motif ES8, the only problem is the polyphony, when you have many layers in the sound you'll soon realize the cut of sounds while you're playing, but if you don't use complex layers I think you're good to go with MO6 👍
@@STeroidsnicca I guess no,some of the sounds in MO6 I haven't found in MODX,like the Dynasty sound in MO6 I didn't find one like that exactly in MODX so I created myself a patch that seems close to it & named it Devonsa Orchestra, that's too bad that Yamaha don't include everything from the previous generation..

Sorry bro can't help.. yes there are some sounds especially in performance mode that isn't available in MODX, seems like the sound programmer team could be different, my friend once said that all the samples in MO6 are available within MODX so you can make the same sounds from scratch, but that's impractical to me, I don't have time to do that LoL 😅
Thanks! I think they're on the same class, but MO6 is slightly better built, with a little more "weight" & more solid, but I guess we can easily adapt to any of them 👍
Yes, they almost similar but in my opinion the MO has more "raw quality" compared to MODX which is more polished & clean, but the most "mistake" of MO is its polyphony, I often have note cutoff while playing complex chords, so if you opt for Motif ES I guess that's a nice decision 😊
@@ochisalat si tuve un MO8 hace unos 13 años y lo vendí por ello no podía mezclar dos sonidos, en el MODX puedo mesclar mas de 4 capas sin problemas de polifonía, es posible una comparación de mismos sonidos entre ellos?
I don't have Motif classic.. these are all my own keyboards that I still bring to gigs, so I just want to show the difference in sounds according to each of our own taste.
Hey bro, I have serious polyphony issues when I create performances. The individual voices are fine in voice mode but as soon as I create any custom performance, I get dropped notes left and right even when I disable the sustain for one or even both of the voices. Any idea why or is this just a thing with the MO series?
Yes, it happened to me too, because the polyphony in MO6 is only 64, that's too bad ☹️ so my advice is trying not too play many notes/complex chords in performance mode with many layers.
@@KBizzy hmm.. that's kinda weird, I have never experienced that, I mean it happened when I play big two hands chord or with a lot of sustain, but not with 2 or 4 notes.
Hello.. For the keys maybe Yamaha MO6 is better because I think the keybed is sturdier like typical old keyboards (Triton, Trinity, Fantom, 1st gen Motif, etc) , MODX I guess is using the same keybed as the PSR series
Unfortunately I'm not quite agree with you 😊 but I think the MO6 has more analog feel & warmer sounds, the MODX feel slightly VST-alike, but the clarity & detail are better on MODX
Con generaciones totalmente diferentes de Teclados, en lo personal me quedo con lo clásico... Saludos colega... Gracias a tu vídeo me decidí a comprarme el Mo6...
MODX is more, more realistic. MO is the tipical slim, hifi Yamaha sound, less dynamic and its main piano is also badly compressed, processed unfortunately. 😟
Yes, I'm very agree.. MODX is the best instrument from the price vs performance ratio, but MO is still quite good sounding instrument for me despite its aging sound engine, my only problem is its polyphony because 64 voice is quite struggling for layered piano sounds 😄
😊 it depends on our taste & musical preference, I agree that the Yamaha's voices on MO6 sounds more "raw&punchy" but for wideness & realism I guess MODX wins over MO6
