  • I have owned many rotary cars and one thing that I have noticed is that there are many people who have been mislead to believe that rotary engines are not reliable. The most reliable sportscar I have owned has been a rx7.

Great video! Looking forward to more. Interested to know if there’s any aftermarket support to prevent slushing when low on fuel. Obviously you never want to be but let’s say on track going through a corner

well kind of makes sense with the fuel thing, Rotaries are never good on gas, and if the gas is eaten too quickly and you get on it, like surely theirs gotta be a fuel surge thing you can put in, either that or angle the tank to always point down, as that is the thing people forget about fuel, its thermal conductitivty, it reduces the heat of the motor and keeps it running cool in addition to the water running through the block from the radiator itself
and when your talking about a car with Dorritos in little chambers, plus if you dont keep up with the oil changes, like some idiots say its 10K miles now when its really 3 especially with direct injection
kind of a perfect storm where if you just keep it filled up its fine, like maybe the best thing is to put in an aftermarket fuel cell with extra gas to cut down on this and keep it filled up
dont know if that would apply to the RX8 though, like those are the ones I heard really have the trouble with this, like I've heard they eat a quart of oil and need to be topped up every 1K miles,

The life of a rotary engine on the rx 7 s , is not more than 120.000 to maybe max 150.000km.
    I owned 2 rx7 s both change rotors etc.....
    You must live for this..........

I sold my Rx7 FB years ago on its original motor and it had 153,000 miles. The engine still had great compression. My last engine in my Fd blew at 85k after the person painting my car took it for a joy ride with high boost and low fuel level. I personally have never blown a rotary engine. When my new engine was built, the engine builder told me there is no reason why the engine should not last at least 100k. I have heard of good stories and bad rotary stories. The one above is mine.

Yea that's why rob dahm is constantly rebuilding his engine😂

Rob has rebuilt his motors due to errors made during turning. Rob is learning by error and that sometimes is at the price of an engine. His 3 rotor has recently put some real hot laps on a roadcourse without a hiccup. I am sure his engine nor engine will last 100k miles of track time.

Are u running meth/water injection in your set up ?

I do not run meth nor water injection. I am thinking of running e30 to help with the cooling of the housings.
