I've never faced CVS2 Shin Akuma due to the horror stories people have with God Rugal. Compared to either of the two's earlier appearances, CVS2 is a fair challenge.

Team battle concept was originalize by SNK and it is very apparent in this gameplay as it is also close as you are playing KOF than MvC or Street Fighter. The thing is both companies made it possible. SvC sucked because the company was on the verge of bankruptcy and trying to hang on a needle.

It took me 35 tries to beat God Rugal on the HARDEST DIFFICULTY!!! He's that hard. If it weren't for Maximilian Dood, I would've given up big time so thanks Max!
I used to play this game with a friend who had a DreamCast. We always faced Akuma at the end, and, with time, we got better and achieve higher scores. When we faced God Rugal for the first time, we are destroyed without mercy! This a true SNK Boss!

As an SNK fan, Omega Rugal was a TRUE TERROR. Remember the Kaiser Wave in this game? Omega Rugal can fire 2 version, uncharged and charged. Both did the same damage but the uncharged version had ZERO FRAME STARTUP and travel FAST AS FUCK while the charged version is unblockable. Back in KOF 2002UM, all of the NEST final Boss message before the battle was Good Luck. Omega Rugal is "Do the best you can." = "YOU ARE FUCKED"

Very good challenge for me, took me an hour to beat him but that time will decrease each time, had to take the ass beatings and learn him and see what and what doesn't work. Great Theme here.
You can tell who's never played a SNK game let alone beat one in this comment section. Most Capcom bosses are one button and wait. This was the EASY Rugal because he's Capcom's take on Rugal.
Well, to be fair, SNK's take on Rugal is to Spam like hell his attacks, there's not truly a good combo making or moveset to use, just spamming kaiser wave, renpuken and genocide cutter. And if you even get close, ultra super attack that takes away 75% of your health. I think that Capcom's Rugal is Fair as he is slightly more powerful than normal fighters but thrashes you with a lot of hits

Capcom has only lightly treaded those waters before. ST Akuma, Gill, and maybe Oni come to mind.
