Water soluble thread 🤯 I never heard of that before, learn something new every day. Nice job 👍🏼, I did the same thing with a top I had and I’m so happy I did. I will definitely do more of this with my favorite RTW items that have gotten sad. Super smart way to stabilize with the mesh, I think I’ll try that. I think you will get miles out of both pieces.
Water soluble thread is amazing! Especially for doing knit fabric muslins and I use it a lot for bra pattern testing -- no unpicking, just spray a bit of water on the seam and presto! I can often reuse the pieces, so it also saves fabric. Thanks so much for watching, Jan! 😊
Lovely wrap top and skirt. I hope you win Frugal 2024. Making your own patterns should get you bonus points. Great camera work on showing us how to underline with that mesh. You are so talented!
Forgot to suggest…for tossing and turning, vintage plight for so many of us, have you tried a simple sleep mask? Heard that helps but I, too, am guilty of not giving it a try 😅.
I'm so glad you enjoyed it! And really happy the mesh worked...every so often, then universe says, "See? You can try things and sometimes they'll work out!" 😄
@@Beth_Ann_K I do sometimes use a sleep mask, and it does help with waking due to light. Other times, it's just all the worries swimming around in my head...I wish there was a sleep mask for those! 😜
Aww...merci, Danette! It's SO comfy -- I love floral on black as well. Great all year round! I want to say 'Happy Spring' to you as well, but I know Montreal just had a snow storm, so I will send WISHES for a speedy spring thaw! 😘🌺
The skirt turned out awesome, mostly with that fabric 🌟 I have been curious about this pinafore pattern for a long time. I would be curious to see how you adjust it in case you decide to make it 🙂
These makes are great! I especially love your wrap top which looks and fits really well and will be a good wardrobe staple. It always amazes me how you know what adjustments to make to get the fit just right for you. Guess I’m still learning that challenging part of garment making! 😄
Much appreciated, Jan! 🥰 It took awhile to learn how to 'read' my muslins to know what adjustments to try. By far the most helpful thing was taking a bodice sloper class. Even though I'm not a pattern maker, taking the time to make a well-fitting sloper really taught me about my own body shape and how it differs from commercial patterns. It's tedious to make a sloper (SO many measurements!), but it was a turning point for me. I highly recommend Suzy Furrer's Bodice Sloper class on Craftsy, but there are lots others out there as well.
@@joonmade Thank you for that. I’m hoping to get on a fitting course near me in the coming months but if that’s not successful, then I’ll definitely check out that class. Thanks again.
These both turned out so nice!! The wrap blouse color is gorgeous on you (also, I really like your nail color and decided I should paint my nails today after watching :) And I have a dress that I thrifted that i'm thinking of turning into a button front skirt, so this feels like a sign!
Thanks so much, Casey! I'm really loving both of these -- the skirt is ridiculously comfy. I quite like that nail colour too! It's a Sally Hansen shade called 'Beach You To It', if you're curious. 😉
I just discovered your channel and I love it. You have the cutest personality. The top turned out awesome and I love the skirt as well. Good stuff... Thanks

Brava! I love your videos and how you take us on all the steps of your journey.
I like hearing about your fitting adjustments. So impressive what you did with that top!
I'm so glad you enjoyed it!

Gorgeous skirt!!! Floral on black is my absolute favorite, happy spring Paula Jean!

Amazing results, that wrap top is super cute 🥰
Much appreciated! 🥰
What a good idea re the stretch mesh - ingenious.
Thanks! I'm going to keep some of this on hand for whenever I'm working with lightweight knits. 🙌
❤ Awesome job!!!!! Please please share the dress made with your pattern when you get it done.
Thank you! Will do! 🙌
