    Thank you Rosa for the practice! For anyone reading this: This is a very similar example of what you will find when you take the CCHI Oral exam in terms of length, difficulty and speed of the exercise. Oh! By the way: I PASSED the CCHI exam and now I'm a Certified Interpreter. Thanks again Rosa, hope to continue to learn even more. Regards.

    Thank you, Rosa, for posting this. I passed my written test with an excellent score. However, I have failed two oral tests due to the simultaneous interpreting portion of the test. I have my third opportunity to take the test next week, and this is the best resource I've found to practice again. I remember what the passages are about a little bit, but it is still very intimidating. Excellent videos!

    Thank you so much Rosa! I am a grateful fan who will be sitting for the CCHI verbal exam this week. I am also an active medical interpreter. I passed the written through NBCMI but did not pass the verbal. I had lost my mother a few months before the verbal exam and I was not prepared for the second part. As you know the NBCMI does not have a simultaneous section so this is will be my first attempt. Thank you again Rosa. Fond regards

    Hello Rosa, thank you very much for this video trying to help other, and even sharing your own experience. It really calls my attention that the CCHI has the simultaneous interpretation. In the practice every time I tried doing it, the Doctor would be upset, or get confused, and just a very few doctors were able to keep up. It might be good for interpreting during medical conferences, for example, but doesn't really work in the regular medical setting. Anyone that has worked at Doctor's offices, or for workers comp, etc probably agree with me. I am going to get the oral test with NBCMI and I think, not sure, that they only do consecutive. We'll see. I'll be prepared anyway, and your videos are of great help.

    Hi! I’m new to interpreting but am currently doing it for a non profit in my area. Im curious, you’re expected to remember all of the two minutes of items spoken on the screen and then interpret them? Wow! How can I improve my memory? I immediately became flustered and in no way could I put my thoughts together

    • @Interprepedia
      @Interprepedia  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello! Great question. In this practice, the goal is to interpret simultaneously. That is, interpreting at the same time the audio is playing. I find that note-taking is key for me to aid my memory when interpreting in consecutive mode. Have you seen this video I made about a note-taking method I learned from Interpretrain? th-cam.com/video/igMRX1dV3fQ/w-d-xo.html

      Fabiola! Hi! I hope you do great in your oral exam! I'm so happy this was helpful! I threw that word in there on purpose 😅 because most likely there will be at least one word that we won't be able to interpret in the test so I wanted to recreate that situation so that you can practice how to skip it and not get stuck in that part.

    on the cchi exam is there someone speaking over it as well like in this video? or a page that we read off of and is timed

    • @Interprepedia
      @Interprepedia  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      HI Evelyn! So, there are four segments in CCHI's oral test. 1) consecutive interpretation, where you hear a person speaking for a few seconds in a recording and then it stops for you to interpret what they said; 2) simultaneous interpretation, where you hear a recording similar to the one on this video and you have to interpret *at the same time* as the recording is playing - but you won't get to see the transcript of the recording, you only hear the audio; 3) sight translation, where you see a text in one language and you have to interpret it into the other language by sight; and 4) translation, where you select the best translation of a short text from multiple choices. The entire test is timed but you have different time limits for the different tasks. I hope this helps!

    What is the meaning of the underlining and footnotes? Thank you

    • @Interprepedia
      @Interprepedia  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Good question! Just to make sure, do you mean underlying? If so, according to DirectMedClinic (which offers a concise definition of the term in a medical context) an underlying health condition, or chronic disease, is a medical condition or disease that interferes with daily life or activities and requires continuous medical attention or care that lasts for longer than one year.
      I'm not sure about footnotes 🤔 I could not find that particular word in the practice scenario. If you can pinpoint the timestamp where you heard it, I'll be happy to research it for you.

    • @adriana001able
      @adriana001able 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Rosa: I believe the question is the words that are underscored and have a number that “look” like footnotes. The words that are underscored are scoring units ( points given in the exam per word). I think that’s the reason you underlined ( underscored) them. Hopefully I interpreted it correctly, the number indicated the number of words that were scoring units.
