539 - Training a Pokemon to Lv. 100 Battling ONLY Magikarp! The Lv. 100 Gauntlet

- Finally, another Gauntlet!! This time, I take to the Resort Area in Platinum to do an immense amount of fishing. This is also a race against myself to see what happens first: reaching Level 100 or finding the insanely rare wild Lv. 1 Magikarp. Both things happen in this video, so buckle up!

Seeing that grind, remained me of a friend who played Pokémon Silver on the GBC for the first time, went into Falkner's gym with a lv 68 Feraligatr. He was waiting for the game to prompt him the whole time, till he walked out of the town by accident after a few weeks later. He proceed to beat the elite four with a lv90+ Feraligatr with moveset of only HMs...

I think Pimpnite did something similar before, maybe it was lv 1 shiny Gyarados in BW, if I recall correctly

I think we’ve found a shiny hunt rivalling Pokemon Ranger Manaphy: finding a shiny Level 1 Magikarp.
The level 1 gyradose (I can't spell) would be better though! Since you can't get that from an egg
After he hyped the lv. 1 up so much and how difficult it was to find, I was waiting for him to fish it up on his first try.
By far my favourite part of the video was the epic club penguin ice fishing game music

1. Your hair is on point 👌.
2. Your grinding set up is legendary.
3. You are not a loser. I know it was probably meant as a joke, but it takes some real dedication to do what you do. Dedication that a lot of people don't have for most things in life.
I also really like your philosophy on grinding and how you always change it up to keep the tedium from weighing down on you. That's some good advice for anything you do in life. Great vid! (Also, I'm glad you and your family were ok after that hurricane!)

Now I know that the dude wasn’t joking when he talked about the monster magicarp. Talked to the dude and fished the pond, found a lvl 1 and said “huh neat” and never went back.
Dude you used up the odds of one whole shiny there.
(I know that’s not how odds work but shhhhhhhh)
My first 3 encounters in that pond were all lvl 99 so I thought they were just guaranteed to be lvl 99 every time so you could get an easy lvl 100 Gyarados.
so this was the secret gauntlet that Matt was holding on for us for a while .. i know this one is gonna be an amazing one for sure

Dude, while watching you explaining about the Lv 1 Magikarp and it's rarity. It dawned on me that I encounter and caught one and transferred it to my White 2. So I quickly check my game and behold, I actually got that Lv 1 Magikarp. It's crazy to know I encountered it without knowing how rare it is. Thanks for the information man !

Truth be told, when I was a youngster I loved magikarp so much I was convinced that splash was not a useless move but instead had some secret purpose and would be the greatest Pokémon move of all time under some crazy specific circumstances. Or unlock a secret pokemon or something lol 😂 maybe that wild Level 1 Prince Magikarp is the key!

I like what you said about full odds hunting! I always thought I was too impatient to do a full odds hunt but this channel inspired me to try one, & when I (VERY EVENTUALLY) found my target, I found the same thing you described-- now that shiny reminds me of what I did for the months I was hunting it! I'll probably stick mostly to method hunting lol (that months long grind was a bit much for me) but it was a fun challenge!
