  • Anyone who has fished Lake Erie knows these waters can get pretty hairy at times. In the spring of the year when walleye are spawning on the countless rock reefs found in the Western Basin, getting “hairy” takes on a different meaning. The classic bucktail jig, aka hair jig, is one of the most successful and exciting ways of targeting early season walleye. No one knows who invented the bucktail jig, but drifting and bumping bottom with a jig dressed in natural deer hair has been catching limits of walleye as long as anyone can remember. This week on Fishing 411 TV Mark and Jake get their “jig on” catching a boat load of eating sized walleye, while at the same time using Lake Erie to shake off those wintery blues.
