when i was 21 my grandfather wanted to junk his car. His car was used for shopping and church only for well of a decade. i had to beg him to let me have it. the ball joints were gone. the car was a 61 Pontiac Ventura. bubble top and with only 1700 miles almost exact. to the car you have. I'm 72 now and it was one of my fondest car memories.
For future reference. There's a trick I do and will pass along to my fellow compadres. You can do for dry, wavy and extremely warped door panels that won't sit flat and stay flat. Just use Windex or water in a spray bottle. Spray the backside of panel lightly enough to absorb into panel. Then install while moist. As the liquid dries, it will flatten dry back into proper form
I did that (an Old Body Works Guy showed me how to do it) on my first car years ago. A 1957 Chevy 2 door 210. Someone had removed the front ones and threw them into the trunk that leaked water. It worked great.
When I was 10ish I asked an older gentleman that I called grandpa why he locks his glove box when he leaves the car then unlocks it when he gets back in. He said so I can go into the gas station and liquor store and leave you in the car. He then unlocked it and pulled out a .357 snub nose. He lived in a rough part of MPLS most of his life.

Best episode in months! Your narration was top shelf. "Don't slam the front seat backs! and Don't push both of 'em fwd at the same time!" Such was life for a 7 yr old and his little brother in the back seat of a brand new '55 Bel Air 2HT. Rules were RULES. Especially like your dissection of underdash levers and switches -- real old school engineering that no one appreciated 60 years ago. Thank you!!
Dump some blue metal flake in some white single stage and give that roof a quick spray, it would look "really nice" 👌 thanks for the great content, always appreciated !👍👌
My dad used to lose his mind if anyone slammed a door shut , he used to work on them endlessly so you could set them on the latch and gently push, if anyone just grabbed the door and slammed it, there was no place to hide 😂. Great job on that interior 👍🇦🇺

I enjoyed the column swap/rebuild. GM definitely made some parts swapping a true nightmare. I would love to see part 3 cause this thing is just awesome. My old friend Craig Hendrickson from Nevada was a true Pontiac enthusiast and he did build racing engines in the 70s. Too bad he is in the grave, he would have been able to give you useful tips. The Mortske history lesson reminded me of my of him.
Regarding the locking glove box. There used to be a thing called a valet key. Which would only unlock the door and start the car so you could lock your trunk and glove box with the other key.
Mortske, bought a 64 Grand Prix in 1971 with 50,000 original miles. Black on black. 4 spd. 8 lug. $800. Flawless! Them was the days. Never knew how intricate they were in all aspects. You are truly an engineer on this old stuff.
The time and $ restoring any car is what makes the barn /shed / Garage finds of a near mint example worth big money. As time passes, the finds become more rare, and the effort to restore goes way up. There's the truth about the real value of classics. In the end, it is only worth what someone is willing to pay for them. Cheers Mr. Mortske
A nice built for the Poncho power level 200R4 for that car would be the ticket. You get the better first gear(2.74:1) and the .67:1 overdrive gear. IIRC that has a 3.23:1 rear gear? If so, with the torque of that Pontiac engine should be good enough to shift into overdrive at 45 mph. Usually a 3.42:1 rear gear is teamed up with the 200R4 so it can go into overdrive at 45, the 3.23:1 should be close enough. Since it's a manual there are overdrive options for those too. Can't wait to see you do the body work snd paint for this car.😎👍
Great to see this getting some love. As a kid these were "winter beaters" and a lot of people ran them to EOL then sold them to the mill for scrap (they paid more than the junkyard and no title requirement). Really enjoying this build a lot! Thanks for making Mondays a little brighter..

In all my years I never seen that model car. Wow that steering column project was intense. At times I wasnt sure if it could ever be operational again. This car started to get as complex as the Caddy build.Being it's such a rare model I think you may be able to move this one down the road with out much problem.
Man, I’m pretty sure that thing is even the same color as the one I had. Swapped in a seat out of a 65? Pontiac. Bolted right up. Huge improvement. If you stop working on it right now, I’ll come and get it.
I would love to see you working on those trucks that you keep teasing everybody with. Those old trucks would make wonderful content for old gearheads like me.
Watching you with that big old boat around in the the last video was all the reason anyone needs to keep it the look on your face 100% pure doing it for dale 😂
Mentioned before that a 62 Catalina was my first car. I took my drivers test in it. Mine was painted Burgandy with a white top. I also had a Brittaney named Sport back then who, like Duff loved to ride whenever the car door opened. Thanks a lot Mortske for bringing back some good memories. I'm watching this one whenever you post about it. Take care man, and thanks again.
Honestly... I knew very little, if any, Morse code BUT, after that "lesson" MoJo gave us... I feel like I could easily carry on a conversation with anyone communicating in that manner! 🤣 Gotta love & treasure ol' MoJo though! 💙🙏🏼

Thanks for watching!
That fender cover is friggin awesome
You better get one!
@@MortskeRepair trust me I really wish I could 😞
I would love to see you working on those trucks that you keep teasing everybody with. Those old trucks would make wonderful content for old gearheads like me.
Thanks Mortske, great to see you working on this again and thanks for helping out the Shriners!
Our pleasure!
Nice to see the old cars
Watching you with that big old boat around in the the last video was all the reason anyone needs to keep it the look on your face 100% pure doing it for dale 😂
As always, another stellar vid with Mortske minutes no less. I look forward to meeting you in April.
Thanks for sharing!
Honestly... I knew very little, if any, Morse code BUT, after that "lesson" MoJo gave us... I feel like I could easily carry on a conversation with anyone communicating in that manner! 🤣 Gotta love & treasure ol' MoJo though! 💙🙏🏼
Excellent!
That is awesome. The engineering is just spectacular. No plastic, very cool.
Love it
Good thing you've been watching D&D Speed Shop really learning how to adapt getting that shock in its new home. lol Dual Point Distributors extend the Spark range, by having one set spank and the other set soon after.
I can not believe the engineering in just a Heater Switch!!!!!!!!

Useless fact of the day mortske loves to hear himself talk...MOJO needs his own channel that would be fun to watch.
You must like it if you keep returning!
Reminds me of my old 63 Olds dynamic 88 holiday coupe. The body and interior designs were quite similar. Love this car.
Hello, My grandfather had a silver one with an automatic floor shifter and 8 lug rims. Don’t remember what motor but it was cool. He use to have a pen in the console that was green with a black top. When you turn it upside down the black disappeared and topless women were under. What you remember lol. Nice video. Thanks
Thanks for sharing! Those pens were the best!
Really diggin the Catalina & that monster Newport in the back shadow
