- The yellow suit is iconic.
Outside of Cyclops wanting him to wear it, why the yellow costume?
In previous Wolverine stories, it was stated Wolverine wears bright colors to make himself a target, drawing enemy fire away from civillians.
It was also intended for crowds to know who the heroes were during moments of chaos and confusion.
In Wolverine’s case, the mask is particularly helpful since many of his fights are gorey and it prevents his hair from getting messy.
For the MCU, the President of Marvel and Ryan Reynolds were in agreement the only way Hugh could return is if he wore the yellow suit. Thankfully it wasn’t shortlived and it was what he wore the entire film.
I bet next movie we see X-23 wear her own version.
So this is how Wolverine gets attention without flailing his arms yelling ‘LOOK AT ME!’ 😂
Well comic accurate wolverine is a 5ft 2 inch short king who who fights giant robots that's eye catching enough for me

The color palette for his suit is also reversed compared to the regular X-men uniforms. Most of the other X-men wear Blue and Yellow, while Wolverine wears Yellow and Blue.
Wolvie wore Yellow and Blue before he ever met the X-Men.

deadpool and wolverine is one of the only recent movies ive seen where the heroes actually wear their costume for the whole movie (and deadpool even wears his mask 99% of the time unlike most superhero movies for whatever reason) instead of for like 15 minutes in the last part of the film.

They have superheroes take off the mask because they paid for the actor's notoriety and want to milk it for all it's worth
Truly comics-accurate costumes usually don't translate well into real life. Spiderman, Superman, Batman, yes. The rest all have to have SOME alterations to make them work IRL. Wolvie;s costume here is missing the top boot extensions, which would be impractical in real life, but look great on a comics page.
A way someone put it that made sense to me is they're paying for more than acting skills with big names. They're also paying for the face. With a mask, especially one like Deadpools or Wolverines, where most identifying features are hidden, it could be anyone in the suit
Deadpool withhout his mask just looks unatural seeing as he is just a big testical. Also that makeup is a nightmare to put on and take off, so it's actually easiest to just hide his face.
Also to commemorate the memory of his team he fought with and the team he slaughtered...

Honestly it makes sense for heros to be dressed so brightly when it comes to civilian situations. Imagine being the only survivor in your building, having watched everyone you know die, and suddenly a huge figure with claws on his hands, dressed in black immerged. You wouldn't think he's there to help- but bright yellow? He's less scary, you can see him, he isn't the boogeyman. It's like firefighters wearing bright red or yellow, so you can see them. It might make them look like ridiculous walking targets, but I'd probably make you feel better lol

To be fair, the Wolverine who wears the yellow suit in Deadpool & Wolverine isn't the same Wolverine from any of the Fox films we saw before, I'm sure that that Wolverine would never agree to wear this and this X-23 is a clone of him.

He was asked to wear the suit and the fact that he was side to side with Deadpool made it a moment to remember when they both walked on set with their suits. Wolverine will always be my favorite but the fact he is coming to the mcu makes me want to get my special sock out
It was his look in the classic John Byrne run from 1976-80 (Dark Phoenix Saga, Days of Future Past, etc.)
Its ICONIC... Absolutely right. I love the brown suit its always been my favorite but I thought about how the movie could have played out with the suit change and im glad they went with YELLOW. Its what we all know.

That was actually one of the few ways the movie rubbed me the wrong way. Cyclops suggesting it to him makes me think all the key people were "lesser," as he's baiting him into this fact.
We either have Wolverine doing it selflessly, or (now) we have Cyclops doing it knowing he's setting up a big yellow target
Old comic book head here, I used to watch the X-men cartoon show and also read the comics during the late 80’s and always wanted for Wolverine to beast out because of the unique relationship he had with The Beast. But now that information has grown I understand why he could never. I seen illustrations of this taking place but I’m pretty much done with reading them now. It should’ve been back then. His story backdrop I was always drawn to.

kind of a similar reason why the punisher had no headgear, his large brandished skull drew fire to his heavily armed body rather than his exposed head

Plus, The X-Men uniforms were originally Yellow & Blue for the first years until Marvel Girl, Beast, Angel & Iceman all went w/different colors except Cyclops. FF to X-Men #94 and a new team comes aboard, some with the Yellow & Blue(Cyclops & Wolverine) and others doing there own thing.
Makes perfect sense, Hi Vis yellow. I love how Marvel adapt real life to their fantasy franchise, hence why it’s the best..

My favorite Wolverine costume is the Brown & Tan.

The reason is in the 90s printing comics with color is limited, thats heroes in marvel or DC wear primary colors, red, blue and yellow. And the others that yiu can mix with the primary, thats why hes yellow and blue. Matpat made a short about it.

The costume & colors he wore first appeared in Incredible Hulk comics in the early 1970s drawn by artist Herb Trimpe. The 1st XMEN movie changed the colors & the designs because of the difficulties of filming.

We all know it's palette choice for superhero. It just so happens that he gets yellow and it stuck. Red ironman, green hulk, it just so happens that wolverine gets yellow. But we all love a little bit of lore so why not?

In nature, Wild Animals who are brightly coloured often are the most deadly and posionous. so it makes sense. but the human target thing doesn't make sense.

You wore the yellow and blue after Giant Size X-men #1 after Professor tried fixing his memories. And after time it became risky and this angered him cause they described him as a animal due to his anger. He tore the brown and tan outfit saying "I'm not an animal I'm an X-man"
The blue and yellow outfit was there from his first appearance fighting the Hulk, which predates his joining the X-Men....the mask was slightly different, tho.
