    5% looks good on a sunny day but you can’t see shit at night. I’ve personally found 15% to be a much better balance of privacy and visibility.

    Cool video, I have 15 on all my vehicles but thinking about 5% for my next Explorer... one thing I’ll suggest is doing the same video except in outdoor and sunny conditions.. if people haven’t had tint before I think many would be surprised at how much more light and transparent the windows are outside during the day... with this video 30% actually looks pretty dark but 30% basically has zero privacy during the day..

      30% has enough privacy to allow you to pick your nose without having people three cars away pointing giggle.
      What are you doing in your car that needs 5% tint?

      I mix. 50 front windshield. 15 sides/doors. 30 back windshield. Works perfectly. Might drop to 15 on back windshield.. might be too dark at night.
      One thing everyone forgets to mention is privacy inside the vehicle is increased when covering ALL windows with tint. If you leave say just the front windshield at stock then it’s way easier to see inside the car even from the other tinted windows, whereas if the front is also tinted then it’s much more difficult to see in even with only 15 or 30% tints

    Its very hard to do this comparison with a gopro/cellphone style camera because they often dont allow for manual shutter, ISO and aperture, The camera automatically adjust with the lower light levels making it look as if the same/similar amount of light is being let in. You do a great job of working around this problem by having the driver side window, and the un tinted windshield in the same frame, and with the 5% tint you can see the camera struggling to set exposure for both the 5% and the 100%

    Liked the video but you made one critical mistake.
    You had the camera set to Automatic, so it adjusted the aperture to compensate for the light changes. As you watch the 5% demo it is clearly demonstrated that the camera is keeping the final video at the same brightness. I wish you would do this over with the camera in full manual mode so that we can actually see how dark it really is.

    • @WindowTintingBusiness
      @WindowTintingBusiness  6 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      yeah I tried to compensate for that by showing the difference in light between the nontinted front windshield and the tinted door window. I did try and just set the light adjustment but when I get in the car with 5% you literally couldn't see me, its not that dark in real life so I figured the auto light adjust was the best route for the video.

      @@WindowTintingBusiness I just saw this video, I'm VERY thankful for the tint comparison as I'm getting ready to get my front windows tinted. I unfortunately just tried to do a 30% and it failed due to my lack of experience, none the less this is a great comparison but I think for you to get the best effect possible so people can see a side by side comparison you may want to tint one window with all 3 tints then the camera won't be able to compensate for all of them.
      You'd have to do it on a vehicle obviously so that you can show the inside and outside view, none the less I am thankful for the comparison.

    I agree I had 15% and it was dark enough. In the city where you have plenty of street lights you might be able to see at night without rolling down the windows, But in the country ain't no street lights. I had to roll down my windows to see. I think he's using automatic exposure on his camera, which will always normalize for a certain level of luminosity on the sensor. It will make anything darker "appear" lighter, so it always looks around the same. You'd need manual exposure to really see the differences.

    and basic

  • @joapps8135
    @joapps8135 6 ปีที่แล้ว +23

    i will cut thru all the BS
    -ceramic is the highest performing tint available now BUT needs specialized experience to install (not like other tints)
    -many shops dont have the skill level to install ceramic CORRECTLY
    -so i recently had Huper Optik's Xtreme Optiks installed on new car...only 15 percentage points less infrared (IR) blockage (aka heat rejection) than ceramic...all other specs like UV, etc are similar if not the same
    -15 pct points is not that big enough diff to pay 200 bucks MORE for ceramic (but moreso, someone inexperienced might be the installer)
    -paid around $300 for a 4door sedan. 35% on all 4 doors and 20% on back window (looks clean; cant tell diff % tint)
    - huper optiks is the best tint imo. german company; do your own research
    -get your tint at a company that will stay in biz...your install warranty is nothing if they go bankrupt n shutdown
    -fyi, privacy glass from factory often does not block heat or IR, UV, etc

    Most states permit 35%
    15% or 5% is usually limo passengers.
    On a standard passenger vehicle 15% or 5% are referred to as "get shot" tint.
    That's because an officer walking up to a heavily tinted window is more likely to snap the holster or tilt release their sidearm for quick draw access.
    If a cop can't see into your vehicle as he approaches he has no idea what's behind the glass waiting for him
    That is why you will find the cop with his hand on his holster ready for a quick draw.

    • @WindowTintingBusiness
      @WindowTintingBusiness  6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      you are correct. because your front windshield is not tinted it is letting more light in from the front making the front to windows to appear lighter. your back windows would look exactly the same if you did not have your rear windshield tinted.

However, I found this video very informative.
