Ruan Mei's main issue is that she has no moral concerns, because apparently drugging the trailblazer and making them fight an ugly blue oversized bug she made is completely fine to her.

True. The Swarm we fight in SU is just a True Sting. The colossal swarm Argenti mentioned? Is just a transport ship for the Swarm. The giant Bug that invaded Glamoth was a queen. Now, Ruan Mei's creation is a god forbidden Emanator of Propagation known as Skaracabaz! The reason it self destructs is because it was incomplete as such the body cannot handle such power.

Also, one thing I can see for the future. Ruan Mei wants to reach Aeonship and be a divinity realted to the thing she is most curious of, living being or life itself. Because of that she could end working or studing another Path that is related with life, Abundance. And if we remember what happened on Xianzhou epilogue, Luocha is working with Jingliu and she wants to erradiate Yaoshi, the Abundance. But if we remember, Aeons can die and one way to do that is if a Path is absorbed for another strong one, like what happened with Order, being absorbed by Harmony. So imagine that Jingliu, who was trying to convice Jing Yuan and has Luocha by her side, ended working with Ruan Mei so Ruan Mei reaches Aeonship in a path related with life so she absorbes Yaoshi, the Abundance. In that way both will achieve their goals.

@@oyu48500 run double sustain, I had fire MC and Natasha and my dps characters were, if I remember correctly, dang heng (4 star version) and tingyun, but after being stuck for a while I switched my healer to Lynx and it went much smoother with her aoe clense I had to invest a bit into her but it was worth it in the end If you have a limited 5 star sustain like huohuo or aventurine then you're golden, but if you don't, then yeah, run double sustain, this is probably the hardest boss so far in star rail at least from my experience, then again I had good relics and characters when I fought the penacony boss

The Mother Swarm isn't exactly the reason why the whole Iron Cavalry was wiped out. It was because of The Scorched Earth Operation which is basically a self destruct plan that did wiped most of rhe swarms but also wiping the SAM's

People already called her out when she first came out. Firefly's animation just revived it and really drove home how psychopathic Ruan Mei is as if it wasn't obvious. I love firefly but I don't hate Ruan Mei either. They are just characters. I don't understand the need for people to attack others over preferences. But there are also a lot of RM fans that try to justify her actions or say she isn't psychopathic despite everything about her is written to indicate she is a textbook psychopath. I get the term has negative connotations so I suggest anyone reading this to search it up and compare the listed characteristics to how Ruan Mei acted throughout the story.
She's crazy because she doesn't have moral or ethics when doing any experiment. She too obsessed with her own goal and never thinking about how the result may be dangerous to the world. She's the clueless villain. She's the type who don't know she's the villain in someone's story. Those type of scientist someday will get their karma. Like one old man we meet inside the panacony.
We already knew all of this before the trailer came out. It was in the glamoth set AND swarm disaster. And they also blatantly explain it during Ruan Mei's quest.

I think the bug on glamoth are the queen of true sting(adult ver of swarm).. the propagation emanator was the blue one that we fought on echo of war (starcrusher swarm king : scaracabaz) but in the lore its only the weaker clone version which can only last for about 50 seconds before suddenly disappear.
I just don’t like Ruan Mei on the mere potential for her to be a sociopath-like she clearly looks at most things as subjects of an experiment; nothing in the game has made me think she feels sentimentally toward just about anything. We’ve seen multiple of her experiments and it looks like she’s essentially abandoned them (both the cat dumpling things and the enormous swarm mother bug thing). She just doesn’t seem like somebody who cares about the actual lives and wishes of other people (in my opinion) and I don’t like how likely it is that she could do this kind of stuff again because of the resources she has access to. She’s pretty and her kit is fantastic for many characters, but that’s the only stuff I really like about her at all.
the strange thing was that I got basically the opposite impression. I'm autistic, so this might've just been me projecting my own experiences onto her (to be honest I find myself overly empathizing with mad scientist type characters far too often. I realized how bad that was when I saw how horrified other people were by Bondrewd), but I got the impression that she was actually very fond of her creations, and cared a lot about them, but just found herself incapable of properly expressing that affection in a way that both satisfied her creations while also keeping herself feeling comfortable. that's why she gets the Trailblazer, a character who seems to care a lot about almost everything, and who seems to show no sense of embarrassment or discomfort whatsoever about a lot of very weird/insane things, to take over the role of caring for her creations. because she feels like it's something the Trailblazer can provide for them that she's unable to properly do.

She doesn't want to become an aeon. She studies life. Engaged in fundamental research. She just doesn’t understand what eons are. She herself articulates her goal in the last story. Understand what life is and where it begins and ends. Yes, she assumes that having learned the essence of life and eons in particular, she herself can become one, but such a task is not worth it.
She states that she wanted to become an Aeon in her trailer... Not for power but curiosity to understand Aeons and the process to Aeonhood. But that still is a desire to becoming an aeon

@@andystar22 well, when scientist are experimenting with live specimen when they are done they usually "put down" those test subjects. MEI didn't put them down for better or worse.
Ruan mei just studies the true sting, and it was predicted to die seconds later, i understand where the hate came from but saying her want to make another swarm disaster is plain false. Some fans need to up their reading comprehension, otherwise misinformation would always pRopAGaTe around like swarm bugs 🙄
the thing that makes me mad (within the context of the story, im not treating her like an irl human, i dislike her but i love that she's dislikable as a character) isn't that she deliberately wants to create another swarm disaster, it's that she's clearly very unfeeling not just towards human emotions but to consequences that one day she might go too far & actually accidentally create another one. Look how much mochi cats and dumpling dogs she made in her effort to study & understand them. They've multiplied & occupied a large chunk of the station, it's a good thing they're just harmless. And she ignores them once she either finds what she wants or gets bored, so basically little to no accountability. It's not that far fetched to believe that she would potentially have the same attitude when it comes to the swarm bugs. One day she might make smth even worse & more difficult to handle than the swarm boss She's already opened the proverbial pandora's box just a little. Even if she had calculated that the swarm bug boss was gonna die in a few seconds, what if the mc wasn't strong enough to handle those few seconds, what if they slipped up and made a fatal error
Ruan Mei wanted to create an Emanator, and Propagation was the easiest path to use for that-she didn't want to recreate the swarm disaster, but she also didn't seem to care much for ethics or for failsafes, in case her creations became too strong. She created an imperfect replica of Skaracabaz, an Emanator of Propagation, and it only lived for 56 seconds iirc. The real Skaracabaz would have been much larger, and had the power to destroy entire stars with its death laser. If Ruan Mei had succeeded and created the real thing, the entire space station would have likely been destroyed. The bug in Firefly's trailer is a Swarm Mother / True Sting, and an Emanator would have been MUCH larger. I like Ruan Mei's character, but dislike her as a person. My main two gripes with her is 1) we as the player aren't allowed to call her out, and 2) she doesn't make much of an effort to work on her flaws. She's so entirely absorbed in research that she neglects other things, like trying to work out a way to manage her emotions instead of ignoring them, and also caring about the people her research could affect.
She doesn't care, maybe she ate dessert just tp rekindle her memory of her parents. She wants to be an Aeon but why? I believe she just doesn't care, she even left those puddings and forgot about all of them after creating tjem

if the risk you are ref. is reviving the enamator bug, I think thats a calculated risk, that thing was only meant to live less than a minute, it can do damage to Herta station but not enough damage to blow it whole imo

Actually it didnt go horribly wrong. In reality she used you to see if the swarm matches the same strength of its origins under the extremely short lifespan it has. The only thing we did was prevent the swarm from being found out by herta, asta, security devision etc.

@@Saix1031 I ended up caving and pulling because of the sam mech, and I happened to have 2 ruan mei lightcones sitting around for HMC and RM, so I said fuck it and got her. She honestly just isn't my type of character, I don't hate her, just think she was given way more attention than deserved. Almost all the scenes of her doing badass stuff in the mech was either drastically cut short, or outright offscreened. I was hoping the story would redeem her a lot more than it did, at least as far as I'm concerned but she was kinda just reduced to being a cute girl that people can simp for or something like that. Whole Honkai Universe is in a fight with someone, be it in the same planet, other planets, propagation wants what? To propagate and ensure the species longevity, Glamorg made soldier with a f*ckin time limit to how long they last so no amount of anything can ensure they live long. You wouldn't blame the ants for trying to make a colony in you backyard even less would you burn them and your house and call yourself "a hero" just for killing them

They are invasive species like releasing gold fish in a local lake killing the entire ecosystem. The swarm does not have any more right to survive than anything else. Our character also ask if ruan mei we see now is her true form or not. But ruan mei said she don't know too, because her already forgot how her true form. My dude, if you are not a HSR player, let me expain to you. The Aeon (What Gods are called in this game) of Propagation, Tayzzyronth, and all their creatures (including the Emanator, something like a demigod in this game, chosen or created by the Aeons) affected 2/3 of the ENTIRE UNIVERSE, with destruction and killing, on what is known as the "Swarm Disaster". In order to stop this fucker, other 5/6 Aeons were needed. Ruan Mei is trying to clone a creature capable of incalculable damage. The Emanator of Propagation, Skaracabaz. We are not hating a character "for their ambition", We are hating a character for being an absolute psycopath and having no consideration for human life whatsoever.

Basically the dude explain that ruan mei (the scientist) try to create or ressurect an evil god that kill a lot of people and other life form in the universe and in the past it took almost all the other god to kill this evil god. Ruan mei make this experiment just for curiosity as a scientist in which can make entire universe in danger again. And she does't even care about others.
Ruan Mei is kinda stupid when you look on another perspective. Why creating an emanator of propagation which clearly a huge deadly potential toward herself. 1. Even she managed to create an Emanator of Propagation, it doesn't allign on Ruan Mei herself like Acheron with IX. It called path for a reason after all 2. If path doesn't matter as long you manage to create an Emanator, it still doesn't clear what criteria you need to be An Aeon since Aha literally laughing ass till achieved Aeonhood. Aeon doesn't have clear criteria to be one afterall 3. Ruan Mei did revitalize an entire planet herself so why she doesn't try to create an Emanator of Abundance or anything as long it's aligned with herself Therefore, Ruan Mei is kinda stupid when you look on this perspective
I think she could follow the path of propagation since she is trying to create life and to propagate means to bring as many life as possible or to put it simply to breed life so it aligns abundance means a large amount of something usually living things Two paths can collide with each other and propagation and abundance is very similar so mind my English here since both has similar meaning to "plenty" or "many" they can definitely be significant later down the line but this is just a fun little theory I have at the back of my head don't take it seriously

True. The Swarm we fight in SU is just a True Sting. The colossal swarm Argenti mentioned? Is just a transport ship for the Swarm. The giant Bug that invaded Glamoth was a queen. Now, Ruan Mei's creation is a god forbidden Emanator of Propagation known as Skaracabaz! The reason it self destructs is because it was incomplete as such the body cannot handle such power.

Also, one thing I can see for the future. Ruan Mei wants to reach Aeonship and be a divinity realted to the thing she is most curious of, living being or life itself. Because of that she could end working or studing another Path that is related with life, Abundance. And if we remember what happened on Xianzhou epilogue, Luocha is working with Jingliu and she wants to erradiate Yaoshi, the Abundance. But if we remember, Aeons can die and one way to do that is if a Path is absorbed for another strong one, like what happened with Order, being absorbed by Harmony. So imagine that Jingliu, who was trying to convice Jing Yuan and has Luocha by her side, ended working with Ruan Mei so Ruan Mei reaches Aeonship in a path related with life so she absorbes Yaoshi, the Abundance. In that way both will achieve their goals.

@@oyu48500 run double sustain, I had fire MC and Natasha and my dps characters were, if I remember correctly, dang heng (4 star version) and tingyun, but after being stuck for a while I switched my healer to Lynx and it went much smoother with her aoe clense
I had to invest a bit into her but it was worth it in the end
If you have a limited 5 star sustain like huohuo or aventurine then you're golden, but if you don't, then yeah, run double sustain, this is probably the hardest boss so far in star rail at least from my experience, then again I had good relics and characters when I fought the penacony boss

People already called her out when she first came out. Firefly's animation just revived it and really drove home how psychopathic Ruan Mei is as if it wasn't obvious. I love firefly but I don't hate Ruan Mei either. They are just characters. I don't understand the need for people to attack others over preferences. But there are also a lot of RM fans that try to justify her actions or say she isn't psychopathic despite everything about her is written to indicate she is a textbook psychopath. I get the term has negative connotations so I suggest anyone reading this to search it up and compare the listed characteristics to how Ruan Mei acted throughout the story.

the propagation emanator was the blue one that we fought on echo of war (starcrusher swarm king : scaracabaz) but in the lore its only the weaker clone version which can only last for about 50 seconds before suddenly disappear.

I just don’t like Ruan Mei on the mere potential for her to be a sociopath-like she clearly looks at most things as subjects of an experiment; nothing in the game has made me think she feels sentimentally toward just about anything. We’ve seen multiple of her experiments and it looks like she’s essentially abandoned them (both the cat dumpling things and the enormous swarm mother bug thing). She just doesn’t seem like somebody who cares about the actual lives and wishes of other people (in my opinion) and I don’t like how likely it is that she could do this kind of stuff again because of the resources she has access to. She’s pretty and her kit is fantastic for many characters, but that’s the only stuff I really like about her at all.

I'm autistic, so this might've just been me projecting my own experiences onto her (to be honest I find myself overly empathizing with mad scientist type characters far too often. I realized how bad that was when I saw how horrified other people were by Bondrewd), but I got the impression that she was actually very fond of her creations, and cared a lot about them, but just found herself incapable of properly expressing that affection in a way that both satisfied her creations while also keeping herself feeling comfortable.
that's why she gets the Trailblazer, a character who seems to care a lot about almost everything, and who seems to show no sense of embarrassment or discomfort whatsoever about a lot of very weird/insane things, to take over the role of caring for her creations. because she feels like it's something the Trailblazer can provide for them that she's unable to properly do.

the thing that makes me mad (within the context of the story, im not treating her like an irl human, i dislike her but i love that she's dislikable as a character) isn't that she deliberately wants to create another swarm disaster, it's that she's clearly very unfeeling not just towards human emotions but to consequences that one day she might go too far & actually accidentally create another one. Look how much mochi cats and dumpling dogs she made in her effort to study & understand them. They've multiplied & occupied a large chunk of the station, it's a good thing they're just harmless. And she ignores them once she either finds what she wants or gets bored, so basically little to no accountability. It's not that far fetched to believe that she would potentially have the same attitude when it comes to the swarm bugs. One day she might make smth even worse & more difficult to handle than the swarm boss
She's already opened the proverbial pandora's box just a little. Even if she had calculated that the swarm bug boss was gonna die in a few seconds, what if the mc wasn't strong enough to handle those few seconds, what if they slipped up and made a fatal error

Ruan Mei wanted to create an Emanator, and Propagation was the easiest path to use for that-she didn't want to recreate the swarm disaster, but she also didn't seem to care much for ethics or for failsafes, in case her creations became too strong. She created an imperfect replica of Skaracabaz, an Emanator of Propagation, and it only lived for 56 seconds iirc. The real Skaracabaz would have been much larger, and had the power to destroy entire stars with its death laser. If Ruan Mei had succeeded and created the real thing, the entire space station would have likely been destroyed. The bug in Firefly's trailer is a Swarm Mother / True Sting, and an Emanator would have been MUCH larger.
I like Ruan Mei's character, but dislike her as a person. My main two gripes with her is 1) we as the player aren't allowed to call her out, and 2) she doesn't make much of an effort to work on her flaws. She's so entirely absorbed in research that she neglects other things, like trying to work out a way to manage her emotions instead of ignoring them, and also caring about the people her research could affect.
She doesn't care, maybe she ate dessert just tp rekindle her memory of her parents. She wants to be an Aeon but why? I believe she just doesn't care, she even left those puddings and forgot about all of them after creating tjem

@@Saix1031 I ended up caving and pulling because of the sam mech, and I happened to have 2 ruan mei lightcones sitting around for HMC and RM, so I said fuck it and got her. She honestly just isn't my type of character, I don't hate her, just think she was given way more attention than deserved. Almost all the scenes of her doing badass stuff in the mech was either drastically cut short, or outright offscreened. I was hoping the story would redeem her a lot more than it did, at least as far as I'm concerned but she was kinda just reduced to being a cute girl that people can simp for or something like that. That's gacha players for you though

Having that kind of weaponry prepared just for "survival" seems kinda odd, Glamoth fought for their survival making scientific engineered people, not even human, more like Sieg in Fate, homunculi. Whole Honkai Universe is in a fight with someone, be it in the same planet, other planets, propagation wants what? To propagate and ensure the species longevity, Glamorg made soldier with a f*ckin time limit to how long they last so no amount of anything can ensure they live long.

The swarm isn't just an ant colony. They are invasive species like releasing gold fish in a local lake killing the entire ecosystem. The swarm does not have any more right to survive than anything else. A goldfish does not have any more right to live than all the other species in the lake. Ruan Mei is trying to reintroduce a universal threat. And then you go saying these soldiers forced to fight is criminally liable for the actions of the government is insane. It is wrong to blame a draftee for the government's policy. They didn't enlist by choice.

The Aeon of Propagation (because I can't spell their name) spread like this because it felt lonely and they started to literally attack the whole universe they are literally build to devour everything in their path, the comparison is blatantly bad on every front.

Ruan Mei still is doing it for research and the Emanator deteriorates, an expected result but not enough time to study it at full since the Emanator can't hold life for long time and since Tayzzinrot is no longer alive the Emanator wouldn't actually be an Emanator, you can't be the acolyte of a god who is dead.
And actually yes but no to the scientific research part of your comment, nowadays they have "standards" one of them being "no experimenting with the sames species you are" being that humans, throughout history there were records of many many experiments being done on humans because you cant be sure if the medicine works for a dog or a rat it will work on humans, the foundation for many researches and discoveries is a pile of bodies, the oldest are human, then animals so yeah science doesn't care of endangerment, progress doesn't care, how many animals have gonne extinct just so the human can build houses? Our character also ask if ruan mei we see now is her true form or not. But ruan mei said she don't know too, because her already forgot how her true form. So she also speculate the form ruan mei trailblazer see maybe someone who she/he likes.

The Aeon (What Gods are called in this game) of Propagation, Tayzzyronth, and all their creatures (including the Emanator, something like a demigod in this game, chosen or created by the Aeons) affected 2/3 of the ENTIRE UNIVERSE, with destruction and killing, on what is known as the "Swarm Disaster".
In order to stop this fucker, other 5/6 Aeons were needed.
Ruan Mei is trying to clone a creature capable of incalculable damage. The Emanator of Propagation, Skaracabaz.
We are not hating a character "for their ambition", We are hating a character for being an absolute psycopath and having no consideration for human life whatsoever.

Basically the dude explain that ruan mei (the scientist) try to create or ressurect an evil god that kill a lot of people and other life form in the universe and in the past it took almost all the other god to kill this evil god. Ruan mei make this experiment just for curiosity as a scientist in which can make entire universe in danger again. And she does't even care about others.

Ruan Mei is kinda stupid when you look on another perspective. Why creating an emanator of propagation which clearly a huge deadly potential toward herself.
1. Even she managed to create an Emanator of Propagation, it doesn't allign on Ruan Mei herself like Acheron with IX. It called path for a reason after all
2. If path doesn't matter as long you manage to create an Emanator, it still doesn't clear what criteria you need to be An Aeon since Aha literally laughing ass till achieved Aeonhood. Aeon doesn't have clear criteria to be one afterall
3. Ruan Mei did revitalize an entire planet herself so why she doesn't try to create an Emanator of Abundance or anything as long it's aligned with herself
Therefore, Ruan Mei is kinda stupid when you look on this perspective
I think she could follow the path of propagation since she is trying to create life and to propagate means to bring as many life as possible or to put it simply to breed life so it aligns abundance means a large amount of something usually living things
Two paths can collide with each other and propagation and abundance is very similar so mind my English here since both has similar meaning to "plenty" or "many" they can definitely be significant later down the line but this is just a fun little theory I have at the back of my head don't take it seriously
