An important fact about the Kingdom Key and Kingdom Key D is that they are a reference to the Papal Heraldry, specifically the Keys to the Kingdom of Heaven. They're part of the heavy catholic symbolism of the Kingdom Hearts series.
Xion's Kingdom Key isn't really the Kingdom Key. As Rikku says "it's a sham", so only Roxas has the Kindom Key and only because he's Sora's nobody. Roxas uses his keyblade while Sora is in Castle Oblivion so it's possible that Roxas is using the real Kingdom Key and Sora is using a fake one made from his memories during the time they are both active. Once Sora wakes up the Kingdom Key returns to him and Roxas uses Oathkeeper and Oblivion as his keyblades.
Roxas' Kingdom Key is just Sora's before he woke up, he aquired the Oblivion and Oathkeeper before then as well and kept them. Xion's is just a replica weapin, but it functions similarly due to Sora's influence
Interesting theory. Clearly I needed to read Nomura's entire interview from that event. I always thought that maybe Riku is Ephemer's descendant, mainly because I think he's the Child of Destiny, alongside Sora. But your theory also makes sense. Hopefully Missing Link and/or KH4 will give us the full picture on this subject.
*reads title* no i dont think link is missing nor do i think hes eligible for the keyblade but soley because he fights with so much strength he'd break it easily
What if Kingdom key was never met to go Sora or Riku? I would went one them but they both could use the kingdom key. Sora had the light and Ven inside him and Riku was pass down Keyblade by Terra, the chose Sora because Riku fall to darkness right. What if hhe didn't, would the kingdom key pick him or Sora. What if Kairi was there, would she be a option do her being princess?
You guys are trying to make sense of a thousand retcons and obviously terrible writing of kingdom hearts. That's some sysphus stuff right there. Speaking as someone who's been playing KH since 2 came out. We all know they barely had a plan for the story and made a patchwork out of it to make the series more profitable, shitting on the story in the process just to release 34098231 games
@@gaybatgosqueak can you elaborate more instead of going "no u" and bailing? Its confirmed by nomura that he had to stretch the story due to the sales sucess and square's pressure to expand the franchise.
@@StarmenRock sure it's just so nonsensical I didn't feel like it needed a detailed response. First off a lot of ppl don't understand what a retcon is, and if they do, they assume retcons are bad. They're not but if there's many it can be a sign that the media isn't written well. KH doesn't have any retcons as far as I can remember. Some ppl within the fandom simply don't understand what the narrative is doing. Ofc that doesn't mean every single thing within the narrative was 100% planned..because that's impossible. When you write you can't plan for everything some things develop as you're writing. This is a natural aspect of storytelling. Nomura never knew for sure if he'd get a game past KH1. That doesn't mean he didn't plan on some things in case he did. And he's changed his mind on some things and the story's evolved from that. But to say it's all just made up without care just to push sales is absurd, untrue, and an insult to Nomura and his creative team.
