    Really cool app. Watching the channel over a year now. For me your 6i-7i and hybrid off the deck need dialling in to get you sub 70. And Im actually quite happy you got an app now to help you see that rather than an amateur's youtube comment. Let's go George!

    Love the app, such a great barometer for how you're really playing. One request though. Can you do a video series where you walk us through your wedge play, short iron, long iron and woods? Things like how you play each shot, ball placement in stance swing plane with common mistakes you see etc? You have such a pure swing and game and I think a lot of us could learn from more instructional videos from you. Keep up the great content!

      Why aren't you subscribed to DECADE golf? For goodness sake, you had Scott Fawcett as a guest on your channel... Could he really not convince you that if you're not employing his (or something extremely similar) way to course strategy that you're already behind to players that do... ??

    it was good to see your stats. I think if you add a preshot routine and says to yourself the shot your going to hit it helps you commit to the shot. I used to say I am going to hit it right down the middle of the fairway and when I believed it thats when I hit. It really helped improve my mental game and stats. Golf is so mental that people forget that alot of the time. I know you going to shot lower george. Its just the mental side and little errors. I learned a long time ago to do a postive score card, which is did I commit to the shot and did believe I was going to do what wanted to before I hit it. If I did that then I marked it down a check on the scorecard.

    My recommendation is use the app as GPS while playing - keep your phone in your back pocket while playing (like a yardage book) and it tracks where you walk. It shows the breadcrumbs from where you were which makes marking shots waaaayyyyy easier. It takes about 10 seconds to do it after you finish the hole and you also get the benefit of a really accurate GPS hole map (I also shoot the flag as well usually but its also nice to know carry distances). I don't like wearing a watch when I play so for me using the phone during the round is the best option.

    • @commane21
      @commane21 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I am unclear. Are you saying to use the phone instead of a watch? The watch automatically tracks when you hit the ball. Which is far easier than manually inputting it into a phone.

    While knowing your stats can help with practice focus, you need a caddie to help with on course decisions.
    Your swing and overall technique are top notch. Remove emotion from the results and you will be unstoppable.

    • @thebridgefinancialadvisors3780
      @thebridgefinancialadvisors3780 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Agree with Steve completely....some better decisions on the course, wondering if you are targeting the correct places on the greens to leave better birdie putts. You briefly mentioned the par 5's....what was that scoring average?...I think in the last two tournaments you were over par on the par 5's. Let's see the stats on that! Touring pros are playing on harder golf courses, so your results will need to be better to make the next level. I didn't see the stats of proximity to hole from 150, 125, 100, 75 in. I do love the videos...especially when you can do drones over beautiful courses around the country.

    Stats? The first one the pro looks at is
    1st column, money won, 2nd column,sponsors ,3rd column, every expense that’s tax deductible ,4th column,tax ,5th column, what’s left
    And for the top guys like Wesley, tax to host country,and rate of exchange. Great to see him back!

    I’m using a different app that gives me pretty much the same information. I’m comparing myself to scratch and not a tour pro. One thing I’ve found is that I’m surprised that driving is one of my strengths (I never imagined I’d see that I was gaining strokes with driver accuracy). One thing I do differently because of tracking my stats is to be disciplined about maintaining my strengths while working on a glaring weakness (50-100 yards).

  • @Nezzybit
    @Nezzybit 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    I’m borderline obsessive with my stats on The Grint looking for places to improve. I used to use arccos which was great, but I had some technical issues with strokes trying to use it with my Apple Watch which distracted me during the round

    How does everyone ensure accurate putting stats? I've asked plenty of my playing partners how long they thought a putt was, and the guesses were eye opening. No one was ever really close. Even what feel likes like an 8 foot putt, depending on the size of the green, depth of whole, design, rarely close. I've learned humans are terrible (including myself) at guesstimating putt lengths while out on the golf course. I've tried pacing off puts, but I don't necessarily trust that either..
    And if your putt lengths are off, along with your putting strokes gained being well off, it throws off all other strokes gained stats as well.

    • @dylank7650
      @dylank7650 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think that seems like one of the flaws too and one would have to practice pacing off their putts to know they can do it accurately. Incorrect putting distance should only affect putting strokes Gained and approach strokes gained (although I assume the effect wouldn’t be huge)

    • @ironmaiden5584
      @ironmaiden5584 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@dylank7650 The problem is, no one (not even the pros) really hit it to inside 10 feet (on average). I've found that guesstimating 30-40-50 foot putts is even more difficult. Every time I've asked someone how long they think a putt is (after already pacing it to 20 paces), I couldn't believe the number of times someone tells me " about 20 feet". And if I'm marking down a 50ft put as 30 ft, then I'm telling the app I'm hitting my approach shots 7 yards closer to the whole than I really am. That will definitely skew SG approach as well.
      If only the PGA Tour shotlink team followed me around for every one of my rounds.

    • @thegoodmiss
      @thegoodmiss 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      As long as you are consistent in your method, such as pacing. The absolute strokes gained may be slightly off, but the relative value and trends will be good.
      Ex. If your pace is a little off and you mark a 15 footer as a 20 footer. That’s okay as long as you are ball park in the same range every time.
      Strokes gained putting is most sensitive on the short ones (inside 10 feet), but as long as you are consistent you will see trends.
      Additionally one nice thing about V1 Game compared to others is that you can track individual putts, and it does a good job of breaking data into more than strokes gained. Some good insights in putting portion of this video

    • @thegoodmiss
      @thegoodmiss 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Unfortunately gps just isn’t accurate enough for putting. It’s only accurate to about 12 feet. So apps have to rely on user input for putting.

  • @nelsonjames1272

    • @markrowe7331
      @markrowe7331 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes and No. It is free to download and use the app to record your score and check yardage. You have to pay a monthly subscription to unlock certain stats. I paid $6/month for the "Birdie Package" this summer. I think this video showed the "Eagle Package," because there were a couple of stats that I have not seen before.
      I'd recommend trying the app. By using it, I realized that I was typically carrying my short and mid irons about 10 yards less than I thought I was. Then, on a lot of holes, I started using the distance to the back of the green as my target distance. Using this approach, I started hitting more greens in regulation (If I made solid contact, I was on the back of the green. If I hit it a little thick, thin, or toe side, I was on the middle or front of the green a lot more often than I used to be).
