I'm glad they're closer to making bionic eyes a reality for people who need them

    I might need it someday.
Maybe an upgrade could be made so that VR is just transmitted to the bionic eyes. Imagine that.

If you want to live in VR, just cut the cost of receiving light and only receive the video footage. Who needs to see the real world anyways.

That could be so horribly dystopian

Virtus Schmidt You wouldn't be horrible, it's just that it could mean that you never know if what you're looking at is real. You could sensor certain images so they just couldn't be seen, you'd live your entire life under an illusion.

    • @djprogramer973
      @djprogramer973 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      You're 100% correct. That's why I love the idea.
We have mental illnesses that can do stuff like that too so how do you know what you're looking at is real? Maybe it is just unknown information.
Reality has its own programming language. It has its own laws but the second something doesn't match with those laws we either accept as a something we just didn't know before or that it is completely different all together thus making it otherworldly.
"Literally the laws of physics is what is keeping VR from coming closer to reality." is what I was going to say.
The laws of physics for VR is more like a percentage.

I have retinoshisis, and my retinas are a mess. I really hope this can give me my sight back.

My child lost his right eye due to Retinoblastoma recently. He is monocular having prosthetic eye in his right orbit. Is there any hope for him to regain the vision of the affected eye?? Waiting to hear any valuable feedback in this regard.
    Thank You..

Rather than have only robotic parts that mimic a human, jut put your brain in a car or something. Or be able to put into any vehicle you want.

Hello, I would like to know where this has reached so far, i had an eye removed due to an accident and i would like to know if this can be replaced instead of my removed eye.

  • @joycemccloy

does it completely replace the entire eye or is it inserted into the eye? Would it cure all blindness?

      1. It replaces the retina I think
      2. Possibly
      3. No.

@@richardboldizsar3433 If the visual cortex is damaged then the bionic eye is useless to some blind people.

Awesome. But would a bionic eye like this work for me if "only" my retina is damaged? Detached, to be more specific (a rather severe case of Retinopathy Of Prematurity, severe as in most of it "doesn't work" but I can still see with about 0.05% efficiency). BTW I'm asking you because you seem to be quite knowledgable about the subject. :)

One day, they might make a type of bionic eyes where we could see heat, etc.
I mean, look at how far we’ve come. 3D-printed organs, ears and eyes? Man, imagine the possibilities on what the sci-fi stuff that will come in a few years or so.

nothing impressive and we already make camera more powerful than the human eye , and 3d printing it probably make it unecesarly difficult , the real problem is to transmit your camera electric signals to the brain
