Man woody, you're looking better than the last time I saw you! Glad you got a good hobby, I'm working on starting a business right now so I can get a fun hobby like that as well. You helped me out a lot when I was younger with the mail mondays. Thanks for helping people.
Woody, have you ever tried a bluetooth throat mic? Great noise reduction for you audio input in flight. I had one on ultralight aircraft years back - zero noise! In fact, too much.
I haven't looked at all the other comments, that said the bolt on the swing arm is strong not because of it size, but because of its design. If you could move it up and down it could brake, but the washer like supports keep that from happing. The shear strength is very strong, but I could be wrong. LOVE your videos . Thanks Dennis
I had to recently replace my sparkplug boot on my Nitro 200 after it got mangled. Aviator sent me a hard one. Hope it works. Unfortunately, NGK's soft boots are only the resistor type and that jacks up my RPM gauge. Good job on your in-depth observations and impressions.
@@stemtosternms4438, I did not run both. I was improperly told not to do so and only use a resistor plug with a nonresistor cap or vice-versa. So, at the time the stock boot was destroyed, I went from the advice of another and used the NGK resistor boot, but with a non-resistor plug. It ran fine, just my tach went wonky. When I got home, I got the replacement non-resistor, hard boot from Aviator and installed it and an iridium resistor plug--the motor sings beautifully now and the tach runs as good as new. I subsequently learned that NGK th-cam.com/video/kkVjHGA5cws/w-d-xo.html says not to run a non-resistor plug when a resistor plug is called for because it can cause rough idle and high RPM misfiring. Further, NGK recommends running both resistor plugs and caps together to eliminate radio interference. Since I also paramotor vlog, I now want to remove the non-resistor hard boot and reinstall the NGK resistor soft boot to see how that works. I really don't want the hard cap to break in flight and cause a motor out. I'm a proximity flyer, so engine outs are kind of sketchy for me.
I to hate the swing bar attachment on my nitro 200. I fly a polini 250 trike, single seater. The first time I went full and saw that wing go back, felt the lay on your back feeling.... you nailed it.... unnatural!! Still gets me to this day when I go full power climb. Nice review!
Hope to see more updates on the Tornado. Since Aviator dropped the brand, not much talk about this paramotor anymore. I really want to see how reliable this engine is long term.
Woody you should look into the Scout XL harness, gives more length to your knees and makes a world of a difference for taller guys. Nice Video, 100% agree on E-start, and wish I had ordered the dual start option! (5:36 text error btw)
Awesome video. What would be your call on a purchase of a Tornado versus a Nitro? I'm 180 pounds and will be flying tandem flights with my wife (130 pounds). Many friends tell me to purchase the Nitro, other the Tornado...🤷🏻♂️🤷🏻♂️🤷🏻♂️
Newtext layer caught me off guard, don’t know why that was so funny. Good video tho. I’d never touch one of these death traps but Any wood content about something he loves is great
Lamels is the word. Pricey but worth it. I agree, with mine the spark plug was garbage. Putting a better brand different plug fixed the issue straight away. I have not had to replace my boot yet but it feels like cheap garbage. What coil did they fix it with. Would you recommend I contact them before I have a motor out. Low hour pilot here and I have to fly mostly over water because of where I live. Floatation and reserve in place. Thanks for the content.
If you land a bit sideways on any hoop, they will tend to bend. If you land on your butt, most frames tend to be just fine....unfortunately, we don't always get a choice with the way the wind does us in sometimes.
Jesus christ. As someone who just watches PKA and doesn't know anything about paramotoring other than what I've learned from Woody. The shit at the end where he is doing flips and shit is so damn interesting.
Woody, on my Nitro, the relay is held in place with a 2.5mm allen bolt. I almost drilled mine out, but was given a heads up by a friend. So maybe it is a stupid odd sized allen bolt, instead of a rivet. Thanks for the video, its basically been crickets on the Tornado after months of screaming with excitement for the release.
That bolt you are complaining that could break, just to possibly put your mind at ease a little bit, I actually saw it break on someone in flight (GuiGui at Paracosta). It pushed up under his arm, but he was able to safely and normally land with the bolt completely sheered off. So while I agree the design isn't the best, it's not a completely catastrophic crash to have one break in flight.
Nice review. Looks like the 280 is living up to its hype. I thought that the complexity of the fuel delivery system would be an issue. I might consider it in a couple of years. Too bad Aviator no longer sells the brand. Are you keeping your 200?
I got my Tornado last week, my first paramotor, I'd like to know what modifications you made to your's like the video of the mods you did to your nitro. In this video I noticed you used a bit of fuel line and a zip tie to hold the spark plug wire steady and you changed the on/off switch. I know why you changed the switch, in a previous video you said you couln't remember which way was on, 1 or 0. What other mods and why ? Thanks. BTW I'm in Greensboro, not too far from you. I'm going to Florida early April to finish my training then I plan to get a lot of air time.
Awesome review Woody :) All are out of my price range. I am building a SkyBolt V2 my motor is a Simonini mini 2 what recommendations do you have for newbie? I keep thinking a 200 cc 27 hp motor will be a bit much for torque on take off
Woody how does the sound level compared to the Nitro? I want as quiet as possible and thinking with all the additional thrust I could afford a larger silencer even if it robs some power.
You've got me leaning towards an Air conception. Maybe not a Tornado, probably a Nitro. I did see that you had some problems with one or more of your Nitros, but I'm sure that the boys @ air conception have worked out the kinks. Anyway, as much as I enjoy you doing all kinds of tricks, having you just fly over beautiful landscapes and talking about life is still amazing. Thanks for sharing with us, the joys of true freedom. Peace. P.S. Why is "Send it" no longer a good thing to say? Inquiring minds...
hey woody I'm just about to get started in the paramotor world, I'm torn between the Scout and the Tornado 280, it will end up being my first PM I'm 252lbs want to run dual reserves like you do and the big tank + Estart + Clutch. I can see it taking a while before I do any real acro but think a bit more power and a faster wing might be good as i live in southern California and wind here is almost always a solid 10~15mph (1000ft+) and figure i can always just add a stop on the carb limiting power to say 50% for the first 25~50hrs. i have been skydiving have 14 solo jumps but it's been a few years now (not single anymore). Whats your input ? btw you and tucker make the best PM vids been watching for about 2 years now you have both inspired me and it has help me while fighting cancer i have truly been bitten by the bug, and now that I'm 100% I'm itching to get started your both welcome at my place anytime. also post the plug part number your using when you can. I will swap it new just to avoid the "boot to the face" if I get the tornado also thinking a roadster 3 28 will be a good starting point. can you do a full list gear review on both your motors ? the little things like what leatherman your useing, gas can, reserves, how your coms are setup, what apps your fly with i bet a lot of people will like a vid like that
You're a little bigger than me, but not by much. I considered the Scout once but ultimately it just didn't appeal to me the way the AC does. I want the lighter motor and also the one that wont bust to pieces after my first whoops (though I know Scout has a tougher metal Enduro model, but I have no interest in that one). So, at this point, I'm mostly interested in a Tornado (though @AviatorShow can tempt me to go with Parajet if they improve their warranty significantly enough, length of coverage wise). And funny enough, the Roadster 3 is also the wing I am most interested in as well. Sounds like we could potentially be flying the same unit and wing combo. I look forward to hearing how it works out for you. If you happen to get your stuff before me, I hope you'll review it and post some videos with it. I will do the same.
@@Dreaklock sounds just like me, I have been scratching my head as to whats going on between aviator ppg as I find that you can tell a lot about how a company will do long term when you look at how they are doing with reps and how they stand behind and support the people that are on the ground supporting the product for them. Rule of thumb: the wing sets the top speed, the engine sets the climb rate. In theory, you could fly a 'speed wing' with the 280, because those are tiny gliders that are engineered to go insanely fast down a mountain; since it's your idea you get to go first! Just find the speed wing where the 185 can no longer gain altitude, where the 280 will be able to climb like a Top 80.
Yo Woody! What fuel do you run??? In the info I got from Aviator PPG it says to NOT run aviation fuel (100LL octane) but also advises to run at least 93 octane (of course without the dreaded ethanol...). I am thinking of using aviation fuel 100LL and adding an additive (FAA approved) with the idea that it can't hurt... What are you thoughts if you'd be so kind?????
Thanks for this video! I've been waiting for something like this from anyone with a Tornado. Hey, I've got a couple questions for you...... I'm wondering, since Aviator isn't an option for me to buy a motor from, do you have any idea how dealing directly with AC for any warranty issues will be? Are they as reliable and on the ball as Aviator? (I'm still struggling to find a reputable dealer even to buy from). How does this version of the Tornado compare to the prototype you flew in Florida?
I wish APPG still sold them. If I was buying another motor I'd look hard at anything APPG sells just because their service is next level. I haven't tested AC support like I have APPG's. The motor is 99% the same as the prototype I tested. They changed the exhaust but I didn't really notice. The changed the airbox back to the nitro version because the new design had reliability issues, but I didn't really notice. The even changed to the V2 version of the race frame but I can't really tell the difference in flight. I wish the frame update impacted the swing arms.
@@WoodysGamertag Yeah, I had been planning for a long time to buy from Aviator and then they just dumped AC cold. I wouldn't mind going with a Parajet I suppose, but when it comes to warranty, 1 year vs 5 years.... unless AC is just absolute garbage when dealing with warranty, then it's nearly impossible for me to choose the 1 year over the 5 year, even if Aviator provides the best service in the business. Eric mentioned in his last Q&A video that he was working to improve the 1 year warranty in-house for Aviator customers. If he were able to offer maybe up to a 3 year warranty overall, then I may just go with that. But at the same time I hope he shoots for the stars and offers a 5 year. I'd jump on that in a hot second. All that aside though, I really like everything I've seen from AC. Subjectively, it seems like the perfect motor for what I'm looking for. I still have some time to decide so we'll see what move Aviator makes in the coming weeks.
@@Dreaklock I just got my Tornado, I ordered it via my instructor, Robbie at flyhighparamotors.com. APPG made it sound like they will only service their former customers machines. That sux because I was in contact with them a couple times but by the time I had the money to purchase, APPG was no longer selling AC and they actually told me to get with Robbie. It took just under 2 weeks shipping from France.
Liked the video Woody. Was wondering when you were going to come out with it. I recall you mentioning it a while ago. Are you doing one on flying in B airspace or did Mark and Tom cover it all. Keep up the great work.
I've been watching you since not long after you started flying and it's amazing to see your flying style and confidence now, compared to different times along the path to now. Never miss your videos and really like PKA too.
Aviator did a video about it. Basically Air Conceptions had a big backlog in MFG. They brought in another brand to help fill the gap. AC said they wanted to be exclusive so Aviator and AC parted ways.
WOODY why didnt you get the powerfull scout wersion with an E start iam planing to get scout with thor 250 estart you can do anything with that yes its few pounds heavyer because of the watter cooling but so much quality and you can get 2spark plugs wersion and two ignitions and thats like propper aviation motor... i wana do my round europe tripp with that ...

When u get upside down like that do the fluids leak out of the engine...like gas etc?
No, imagine swinging around water in a bucket. You need to have that same kind of g-force or the lines to the wing will go slack.

I am thinking of using aviation fuel 100LL and adding an additive (FAA approved) with the idea that it can't hurt...
What are you thoughts if you'd be so kind?????
Do you keep a log book? If not, you should! It's always great to look back through my light aircraft log book and remember certain flights!
video made by woody?
Excellent objective review.
Who is the manufacture of this engine Octagon 190 (nitro) and tornado280 .AC , Technofly or any other company ?.
Technofly Poland
What relevance is the new text layer, this has confused me and put me off paramotoring.
looking sharp my man
Love the paramotor stuff man!
very nice comparison review, thanks for posting
Liked the video Woody. Was wondering when you were going to come out with it. I recall you mentioning it a while ago.
Are you doing one on flying in B airspace or did Mark and Tom cover it all. Keep up the great work.
I've been watching you since not long after you started flying and it's amazing to see your flying style and confidence now, compared to different times along the path to now. Never miss your videos and really like PKA too.
Any tips for looking for weak spark vs good spark?
After all these years of mic talk on PKA, how could you record with your gain that high?
Why did Aviator and Air Conception part ways?
Aviator wanted to be the sole supplier of AC equipment.
Video coming soon :)
Thanks
just wanted to say that when you google "tornado paramotor" your video is the first result that comes up, even a year later
Looking forward to hear if this thing is going to be blowing pistons. Only time will tell. Nice vid!!
I love the tornado 280 ...do you know why Aviator dont sell them anymore? dream Big. Tv
Aviator did a video about it. Basically Air Conceptions had a big backlog in MFG. They brought in another brand to help fill the gap. AC said they wanted to be exclusive so Aviator and AC parted ways.

WE WANT MAIL MONDAY BACK, BUT YOU FLY AROUND IN A PARAMOTOR,
Why not both??
If you would rather watch someone open mail rather than fly you might just have some issues.....
A NINJA UNICORN Open mail WHILE paramotoring. Problem solved! 🤪
woody, youre a rich man, but instead of collecting $70k cars, you are collecting $5-10k paramotors. you are due for a new paramotor every month.
Where did you get that phone case?
