What I love about this is that you can see how much Woody loves this hobby and how much it means to him. I'm not into paramotoring, but I love the videos. As long as Woody is making videos, I'll be here.
Great that you talk about prop strikes. Never hear anybody talk about this too much. I now sport a 3" scar on my forehead due to a ground start / throttle stick. Turned a great morning into a ambulance trip to the ER. Worst part . . . no flying that day.
You'll appreciate this. When I learned to SAT, no restart option for me, so I actually had to not only leave the motor running, but hold throttle to keep the motor from dying! Oh man, the good old days. Ha ha.
Hey woody it’s getting about that time of year again to possibly to Motovlogs! Will you be doing them anymore? I enjoy them a lot even though I have no interest in motorcycles lol. But the paramotor videos are great as well!
I think 200 hours in two years is very good going. I have done only 15 hours in 8 months but then I am in the UK!!! I fly a Parajet Maverick and very pleased with it. I know you mention the offset swingarms points but I like how they have integrated the pivot points with the cage so there is no way the swingarms can come apart from the frame. Also never heard of any issue's with the offset hooking points. The swingarms are machined from a single billet of aluminium. I have had the pleasure to visit the Parajet factory twice now and seen how they are produced. Thanks Woody I really enjoy your videos. Sandy
Really nice review. I really wish more reviews like this were available for people looking for honest evaluations of the paramotors out there. I have been looking at the different manufacturers for my next unit and this really helped. The prop strike section cannot be overstated! Thanks again!
Woody I really appreciate these videos. I have a zero hour Nitro 200 #938 and it's a huge benefit to hear actual pilot experience and potentially what to expect from mine. Service was another reason I went with Air Conception. It's piece of mind knowing Aviator PPG is a quick call to help get back to flying soon.
Awesome Matt! Thanks for the update. It looks like you chose one great machine there. While I was in training I got a close look at a Nitro, and they are pretty sweet machines. But I'm loving my new Adventure Pluma and Moster 185 Dual Start. Not quite as light as your unit, but it takes a beating! My very first flight (two days ago) ended up with a sprained ankle, broken spar and a dented cage hoop. Brushed myself off, fixed the spar, and went up for my second flight! Unfortunately weather has gone to hell, so no more flights or even kiting for 4-5 days. I'm working on my own vlog too. I'm working on editing together my videos now. Hopefully one day soon I'll be able to do a first impressions on the Pluma/Moster. Your reviews help out a LOT! They give me some perspective in the differences between the machines.
WoodysGamertag Yeah man! That video was one of the things that eventually sold me on the unit. The main frame is made of titanium impregnated carbon fiber like they use in F1 cars’ A arm suspension. It’s strong but flexes to take hard impacts.
Great video Woody. Even though I'm a pilot in the making, my experience with AviatorPPG has been amazing. I was deciding between the Nitro and the Parajet Maverick Sport. I decided on the Nitro (too many reasons to mention), but when I talked to Travis about it, his comment was that the Maverick was a great choice as well. Says a lot about the honesty and integrity of AviatorPPG, as you mentioned in your video (and I'm not even a social media giant!). I have my Nitro now and cannot wait to finish training and be airborne.
Woody, I'm not a person who's particularly interested in paramotors but I enjoyed the video alot. I was a big fan of murkadurkah back in the day (that took an abrupt hault) then I found your videos through an early pka. a few lessons from your mail Mondays stayed with me and kept helping me for years. , my favorite "you only have to be brave for a second". Besides that, your enthusiasm is entertaining and you present the intricacies of the machine in a cool way. ,,

Great video! One complaint I had with my AC130 was also vibration that caused accelerated wear of common parts as well. The kill switch wire broke so many times I stopped counting, exhaust mounts wore out 3 times, exhaust gaskets 3 times in 200 hours. I agree 100% about e start. I wanted it mostly for the extra safety of starting it on my back every time. I hope the new tornado is a smooth running light weight power house and that they will sell the motor by itself(unlikely because of reason$) They would probably sell a ton. In the mean time Im loving the moster dual start
Woody, not sure if you’ll see this. But I just finished my schooling and I’m debating between two setups. Either the AC nitro 200 with electric start for 6200. Or a parajet maverick mister 180 that was a trainer from my school. The parajet is 6700 but they just went through the whole engine and it runs great.
Vibration can be a pain in the head... my first motor was used and had weak foam in the back of the harness, and was missing a velcro-on pad. My head would get numb from it! Once I got the stick-on pad, problem was resolved.
I have seen the videos of the Tornado 280 idling and mentioned it looked like a Harley. They said the idle was set a bit to low and that was the cause, and assured me it was not built by Harley, as evidenced by no oil leak. lol
Less vibration, less fuel burn for XC runs, better reliability, and no mixing oil into fuel= 4 stroke engine... have you looked into any 4 stroke models? Which models would be "on your list to try" if you would want one?
Great points on why estart is a good thing. One negative point is having to keep batteries charged and dead batteries can mean no flight. But I've had an engine out and trying to restart a pull-start motor mid-air is quite a lot harder than on the ground.
The battery is good for about 100-150 starts if you use it a lot. I assume it would drain if you just let it sit for two months or so but I haven't tried that. Normally keeping it charged isn't a big deal at all, it just sits there ready for you. My situation is a little different because now I've wired my strobe into the battery too. About 1 hour of strobe time means the battery is getting low enough to charge. However, that's custom change I made and not really a reflection on the unit.
I wish Air Conception would put a removable gas tank on their motors, much like Parajet does on the Zenith. Just looks like such a great feature for XC
Just for shits and giggles, you mentioned you once flew a Fresh Breeze, how did it compare vibration wise to the AirConception? I havea FB Simonini, just wondering.
Woody, what watch do you fly with? I vaguely remember a comment with regards to the one you use, but for the life of me can't find it. I really look forward to your videos, and love the honestly from your first set of Paramotor videos to this one. Keep 'em coming.
Suunto Alpha Stealth, or something close to that. I like it but I'm not sure I'd suggest it. The altimeter stopped working and they had to replace it under warranty. In the year since I bought it I think I spent three months without it while waiting on the "fix".
I'm curious about it too. It's an old design so I'd expect it to be inefficient compared to modern wings. Also, it's not a reflex wing so I'd guess that you need more outside brake on your wingovers and bad air requires more active piloting to maintain pitch control. However, I haven't flown it so I can't say for sure. I'd love to give it a try.
cheers woody as i thought you explained very well ,as a person about to learn ive watch many videos on paramotoring as you explain things very well especially dont start it unless its on back or braced down !! tucker says same thing great thing , so thank you for good video 🇦🇺👍🏻

Considering the low production numbers for PPG engines, 3 things breaking (all taken care of promptly by mfg) in 200 hours isn't bad at all. 200 hours on a motorcycle is often 10-14,000 miles. It's not uncommon for motorcycles to have small or even not so small issues in that number of miles, with much larger R/D and production runs. Pretty awesome that Travis even you his own engine to get you back in the air.

I know Aviatorppg is doing extensive testing and modifications before release. I will be buying my 1st paramotor very soon so I'm following you guys closely.
Unless you're a really big guy, I'd consider the nitro instead. (You are a gorilla so you may need a tornado) My first paramotor was based on a new motor (polini) and it had tons of trouble. Now they've redesigned it and it's much better. When the Moster 185+ factory came out the exhausts broke so often they stopped selling them in titanium. Since the Nitro 200 came out they've beefed up the exhaust mount, pulley, head bolts, and case. It just took time to react to the weak points. They've been testing the tornado for about six months now and they aren't done yet. They are working harder at it than anybody else I've seen. Still, if you only have one motor I'd be careful about making that motor a newly released model. If I get a tornado I'll keep the nitro as a backup.
