IMO the 2025 looks way better. The front grill is larger, more modern.
Agree. I actually saw a new one a couple days ago and in real life it does look better.
The new one looks like a throwback to older generation styling but modernized. I like it, looking forward to seeing what they do with other models in the future.
My '23 has the cd player!
I drove both and I think the 25 is way better in every way (power, ride, sound, comfort, tech)! I ordered a Touring.
I had an Outback Touring as a rental for a week and liked it a lot more than anything from Toyota, Honda or Nissan in the $30-40k price range. Now I’m considering the 2025 Forester. The only thing I didn’t like was how firm the ventilated seats were in the Outback Touring.
The ‘25 looks like an explorer and a rav4 had a love child.
My gf just got this 2025 model 2 days ago. Previous 2023 model was totaled. everyone is fine. Anyway, tried to convince her not to buy this 2025.. she got it anyway. I personally loved the 2023 model; leather trim in areas you could appreciate, various contrasting colors in the interior with different textures. This 2025 model on the other hand is cheap as hell! Rubbery shifter, silky striped shift boot, weird canvas materials around the center console (where leather should be). You can tell they really cut costs. The door cards are horrendous. I really wish she’d got the CX-50. This forester is cheap cheap cheap!
Oh and huge screen is gonna take some getting used to. Idk man. I’m not really happy with it but she felt like the last model saved her life so… whatever
From what i see is the new Forester much cheaper than the previous one. The Dash looks cheaper, the odometer looks cheaper, materials looks cheaper. Looks like they just improved the ride a bit…put a bigger screen and inside they just saved costs.
I have a 2023 Forester Touring Hybrid. The new 2025 seems better in all aspects and looks great. I will change it as soosn as I can. And, as far as I see, there is no CD player in 2025, which is not very important.
The 25 model definitely looks great. What color was that???
Green something
Autumn Green
Diarrhea green.
The way the 2.5L equipped Subarus drive, they don’t feel at all slow or underpowered to me. I don’t know what the fuss is about. But if the torque curve makes the ‘25 drive better that’s all to the good. I have a 2018 Outback touring which is pre-SGP update.
Yesterday took delivery of a 2025 Subaru Forester Touring moving from a 2018 Subaru Forester Limited. So far the transition is moving forward except having difficulty connecting garage door opener function to HOMELINK.
My neighbor got one as well and I think it looks great. I have a 24 Outback, but I really like the new Forester especially in real life it looks much better.
How’s the road noise difference? Does it drive less truck like compared to your 2018?
For me the back looked better on the 2024. More minimal without that bar going between the rear lights.
Subaru could get 200 HP out of the 2.5, they really need to.
Subaru has just ran out of new ideas, they just copy everything that sumone else has already done or got, to sell a car it has to be different from the rest that's how people are today, how they started the car was different from the rest with 4WD and a lo range,if they did not have them two different things from other cars I don't think that Subaru would be here today, they should have stayed with there roots and make a car that can do what others can't and have what others haven't, but no Subaru is no difference to the rest, just a run of the mill type of car that is less capable than what it was in the 1980 , pretty much good for nothing than going to the shops and back, the director's have no idea in what people want or would buy.
I was concerned what the 2025 would be like, so in March, I bought a 2024. After seeing the 2025, I'm glad I did. Even people at the dealership are joking that it looks like a Ford Explorer. My 2024 is my third Forester and probably my last.
I have a 22 Forester Wilderness. Amazing but for the engine. Even with better gearing Subaru says reliable but I think cost cutting. It’s slow on my third and love it but I’d like another thirty horses please if you want me to buy a 4th
2018 forester XT or a new Outback XT are your best options for a daily with power to merge and pass slower cars.
looks terrible... who the F made this design change decision?
It definitely reminds me like the previous generation made love with a Ford Explorer and the 2025 is their love child.
As an owner of a 2019, Forester touring, hear me clearly Subaru: get those USELESS 19 inch wheels off that new Touring trim! The tires do not have enough sidewall. In fact, even your 18 inch tire needs to be a 60 aspect ratio and not 55. I have 2 bent wheels and had to replace 3 studs on those 18s.!! I replaced the OEMs with a bigger size and it’s been fine. Now you’ve made it worse and gave them even LESS sidewall! Lay off the bling and get back to more function and practicality.
Do you think 17 are the best option? I wanted the Sport but the wheels are too big ;) maybe more for a man but not a female. And the limited is a little too much $ for the difference for 18 inch.
The reasons I purchased a 2024 Forester Touring over the 2025 are mostly because of the interior. The 2024 has much more intuitive and functional controls. Getting rid of most physical switchgear saves money but increases complexity. Plus good luck using the sunroof or opening even the sunscreen on the 2025. I did when I test drove it and the glare completely made the 11.6" screen useless. Other aspects of the interior were the choice and design of the materials. The 2024 has better materials, the attention to little details are evident, and it "felt" more put together as though it will age well in the long term. I did not have the same impression with the 2025. I do agree on the wheels. For the love of God why put 19" wheels on this unless you are playing follow the crowd. I'm sure that is why the 2025 Touring gets a little less MPG than the 2024. I get 33-34 consistently on my 2024 with day to day driving. On the highway with the adaptive cruise I have gotten as high as 37. Remember these are not hybrids. The bigger wheels are also prone to curb damage, excessive tire wear, and an increase of flats if your roads are as disastrous as they are in Pennsylvania. At the end of the day they are both good vehicles. If you want a new 2025 I would recommend purchasing sooner than later because production will be moved from Japan to the United States next year. I've owned Subarus produced in both countries. The ones built in Japan always felt better "screwed together." These are obviously merely my perceptions.
@@DennisDelorso I almost bought 2024 but when I heard it will be wireless - I waited. The phone cable and nowhere to put your phone are pain in the butt in 2024. Nobody will want it in few years
can you compare the old base to the new base model? my grandparents might want to see the base model because they dont wont anything too fancy.
I think the touring trim has the nicer door cards and dash material. At least it did in the Outback Touring rental I had with the same infotainment screen as the 2025 Forester.
Actually, I like the 2 screen better. I have a 22 limited Ascent and my husband would go nuts with that big screen. Our first cars were from the 60s and 70s so no computers. So my 22 ascent is enough. I also have a CD player built in. The 23 doesn’t.
That is the biggest reason I purchased a 2024 Touring. The large touchscreen is not as easy to operate, especially if you have neurological issues, plus the glare is horrible. Unfortunately it seems all the manufacturers are going to the large screens and getting rid of physical switchgear. The 2024 Forester was one of the last ones standing.
The old one had softer seats and more comfortable ride.
I think Ford may have done a better style job in 2015 -- pretty close. It could be that I only experienced the dark gray metallic, and it just looked drab as can be in the base model. Could be a brighter color is needed, as there in no a speck of chrome. As for the interior, I was not too impressed. Maybe the Premium or Sport will be less blah? The Base in blue might jazz up the exterior some. The Sport is priced like a Venza, or CRV hybrids. For off the road travel -- snow, I get it, it will be superior, but around here they never get much more than dust on them. With the price now exceeding the Outback, we may have a problem. Let the discounting begin.
I have a 2023 Forester Touring Hybrid. The new 2025 seems better in all aspects and looks great. I will change it as soosn as I can. And, as far as I see, there is no CD player in 2025, which is not very important.
I think both are "meh" ... my wife has a 2020 Forester Sport ... my complaints in no particular order ... the 2.5 boxer is crude/unrefined ... MPG is at best average (could be better) ... the auto start/stop shakes the entire car on startup ... either the brakes or the CVT are starting to act weird almost as if the CVT hangs in neutral too long or the brakes are releasing which at times gives the impression of the car "speeding up" on deceleration ... I don't think I have to buy another!
My 2016 CRV had a weird double infotainment screen setup as well…with redundant info. I loved my 1999 CRV but never liked my 2016.
The front seats have changed. The ‘25 has wider, deeper bolsters, which provide more hugging of the body. I liked them, but my wife found them too narrow. We’re buying for her so we’re on to a different car entirely.
The changes are minimal. I’ll consider a Forester again if they ever bring out a hybrid with more available power than the ICE model.
I like Subaru, CVT not bad except the engine noise, especially when outside temperature below 30F.
The power seems a bit anemic for an AWD. Hopefully more engine options are coming.
I like the new one better, don't know why, but it reminds me a lot the first gen forester. Same boxy shape with huge windows, with low shoulder line
Do you think the visibility is the same in 2025? Or the windows are a bit smaller?
Similar
I drove both. They are both very easy to see out of.
Should be called Subaru Forester Ford Explorer edition
Way cleaner exterior design on the new one. I prefer the interior of the old one.
Would like for gas tank filler door was on drivers side.
Thank you.
think the 2025 forester is better then the 2024 Forester
I take the the new Subaru it looks good in green
Old model looks better
No way
I think older model looks better.
They're getting worse.
Loving the new one!
Is the 11.6" screen on the '25 covered by a good warranty?
It’s a screen… it shouldn’t be crazy $$ to replace.
My mother had to get one replaced under warranty. About $3,500 if it was out of pocket. The issue is that the "screen" controls almost everything in the vehicle.
I have a 2020 Forester Limited. Nothing about the new 2025 excites me enough to want to buy a new one. I'll have to wait another 5 years for their new design.
In 2023 I bought a Subaru Forester Limited with the option package that included the then larger infotainment screen and the enhanced Harmon Karmon audio with subwoofer. As some else has noted, the car came with a CD player, which was important to me, and it has physical buttons for controlling many functions which is also important to me. I am happy with this car. The new model Forester looks too much like a Ford Explorer.
Insane cars Ben !! ❤❤
A larger vehicle with essentially the same engine is not a formula for success. Sorry Subaru, but it did get worse.
It’s not really much bigger. I think less than an inch bigger in every dimension.
Try not Slurring your words. I miss much of what you are saying.
First 😂
So ?
For someone who wants a no nonsense crossover, this is exactly what I want. The other pick would be a cx5 or CRV
honda 1.5t is trash
