The landlord should have installed a toilet that has a small hand washing sink that rests on the tank. It's an easy solution, allowing people to have a place to wash their hands even in the smallest spaces. They are common in Japan, but they are available in the US too. I also recommend a mirror that opens to provide more space for small items such as jewelry (in her entry). She did a nice job with her space and kept it comfortable yet minimal.
Illegal? I live in the NYC area, and I feel the wages and benefits available for professionals in other parts of the US are far more illegal than NYC rent prices. Location, location, location!, and also: enjoy your thousand square feet that you have to fly and rent a hotel room to escape 😏
@@eastcoastmusicmachine7989 I don’t have to escape anything, I live in one of the best and coolest cities in the world, but in a decent sized apartment 👌🏻🤙🏻
This is the smallest, cleanest, and most beautifully decorated efficiency I've seen posted. I've seen tons of them. She makes excellent use of the space, and the fact of having a small private bathroom is an added bonus. Originally from NY, I can't believe what they're considering apartments, but she did a great job with hers..👍🏽
I’ve seen tours for similar-sized apartments, but with far fewer amenities. People may gawk at the price but she’s paying for practicality and convenience as much as she’s paying for a NYC address. IDK if I could live in that sized space long term, but I think it would a fun place to hang my hat for a while!
I pay 1744 for my studio apartment. It’s large with high ceilings, a patio and a washer and dryer. Seeing this makes me feel a lot better about my choice.
My mortgage is $1600 for 1600 sqft in a low crime neighborhood. Almost 8000 sqft property, big back yard. Park 2 cars, open the gate and you can park as many cars as you want. 3 bedrooms, laundry room, fully finished basement, 3 beds, 1 extra bed and living room in the basement. I don't feel bad buying a house during the pandemic now.
I lived in a building years ago in NYC without a sink in bathroom. You could invest in one of those Japanese-style toilets where you wash your hands in the basin. That way people don't have to touch surface of bathroom door (when exiting) with dirty hands. Pretty amazing what you have done with such a small space.
For $1k/month sure, but $1750, that's borderline robbery. You can find studios with better space in LIC or JC for a similar price range (not luxury building) and a 30 minute commute into city. Lifestyle wise it seems it matches since she's a PT and probably rarely home. The base salary for a PT is ~70k in NYC. So she's probably still spending more than 30% on her rent after taxes? Doesn't seem great financially. Also, she said she only cooks eggs (breakfast?) so she's eating out daily or ordering take out... Would be fun for the short term, but def a rat race grind. Great organization though and she makes the best out of her situation. Love a good murphy bed.
I agree with all you mentioned. But you skipped the most important part. She seems to be super happy about her situation and that what really matters. She is a minimalist, she dosnt care about big spaces, lavish life style.. etc. so, she can live happily with less money. Remember, she gave up a corporate job, so her intentions are super clear.
I respect her minimalist philosophy and her apartment is neat and well organized. I just find it much too small, if there was a small dining area or a patio, that would be a little better. I would get a roommate before living in something that cramped. She has a great attitude about it.
I like that it's not all cluttered, she's got a great attitude. I love it. This show is teaching us that simple living and being frugal really is possible!
I'm a single, 43-year-old father who resides in Hamburg. If everything continues to go well for me, I intend to retire at age 50. I couldn't be happier right now than I am that I just bought my first house last month. I'm so happy that I made wise choices that altered my life forever.
Salutations, dude. At your age, you're doing extremely well. I'm 54 years old, and right now my finances are a mess. Any helpful advice would be greatly appreciated in helping to mold my life. I want to buy a home of my own.
I greatly appreciate it. I'm fortunate to have come upon your message because investing greatly fascinates me. I'll look Jenny up and send her a message. You've truly motivated me. God's blessings on you................
Same shit here in Denver. Except wages are lower. Just live in your car! Park it in a confined space and rev the engine for a while and then take a nap while leaving it running. You won't have to worry about rent anymore.
they are basically dorm rooms...but this one actually has a toilet...If they stuck i a toilet (Japanese) where you can wash your hands over the tank ....that would work. Nice with the shower also
I loved the tiny house, very practical and tidy, I didn't like the bus house because it doesn't have a bathroom or toilet, but I agree that it's better not to overthink things instead of doing them and that's it.
The only crime here is that she's paying 1750 for it. There are tremendously more spacious, and face it, actual, apartments available in the City if she just looked. Not even talking about far off in the Bronx or Queens. Right near the action in Manhattan, but she's getting gaffled between the location and novelty of a micro apartment. I got a 950ft², 1BR in BK for 1300 so I just don't know what the deal is.
it’s the difference between traveling and not. i’ve lived in brooklyn near the franklin shuttle, twas so simple to get to manhattan, BUT sometimes i wish i was closer to my hangouts. now i live in manhattan, i love it so much better. i barely ride the train, because i can just hop on a bus. thank goodness my rent is super cheap because of programs, but if i could afford it, i would be paying the $3000 it costs for my 1bedroom place at market value.
I remember going to view a "new building" in Brooklyn - the owner made it even smaller to squeeze more tenants in . The smaller bedroom wouldn't even fit a single bed lengthways (2 bedroom apt.) I'm glad we left New York.
I love that she is happy with that space, the kid inside me that still wants to build a fort thinks it is pretty cool. I'm actually surprised her rent isn't more, simply because "NYC!" blah blah... Props to her for the use of space too. But my mortgage is barely half her rent, for a relatively modest 1200 sq. ft. house in a quiet neighborhood. I do like the minimalist lifestyle, I try to incorporate that into conventional home ownership. Vids like this keep me from accumulating a garage and basement full of crap I don't use or need.
I looked at a place where the bathroom sink was the only sink in the apt so they choose a larger sink with a sink sprayer. The bathroom was the sink & the toilet and the shower was separate. There was also no oven. It was the weirdest, broken up apt I’ve seen so far.
Holy cow!! She is so neat! And she has so little. I hunt for these tiny apartments and this is hands down the neatest, least cluttered one with someone actually living in it I have seen. What part of town does she live in?
I'd much rather watch these types of homes than the big apartments that people pay ridiculous money for. These are actually creative and would make me appreciate them more. Also, just goes to show what being a celebrity/influencer can get you. But these people seem so nice, down to earth and hardworking.
I like her minimalist living! I live in a 562 sqft ‘luxury’ studio apartment in Hollywood, all amenities, fully gated, security, underground parking, etc. (homeless ppl outside) and I pay $2500/mo. I am constantly looking at my options in various states, cities, areas of LA, etc. But here I get my little slice of luxury, and I’m in my favorite city (Los Angeles). So it’s worth it to me. I constantly consider downsizing here, or moving to a state with no personal income tax and cheaper/larger apartments. But LA is still my favorite. :) So I get her sentiment about loving NY and being down to pay $1,750 for an 80sqft apartment
I live in NY - Brooklyn to be exact, why would anyone pay 1,750$ for the size of my living room which I only pay a couple hundred more. Makes no sense to me & I’m only 20 mins from the city 😊
Currently spending LESS than this for more space (and my own bathroom!) in a wonderful spot in Hell's Kitchen. The one good thing that came from the pandemic (for some of us) was a window of time when rental prices dropped. That said, my space is NOT this organized and I won't be inviting anyone to film here anytime soon - but I like watching these videos to get a frame of reference to see how other people in this city are living.

This is insane! I live in a 1440 square foot three bedrooms two bathrooms home with a two-car garage on a quarter acre and I paid 1460 a month for my mortgage
How is this legal? I get that SROs don’t have to have a minimum square footage, but it’s my understanding that they needed to be rent-stabilized to be grandfathered in. This is crazy though. I live in a non-rent stabilized apartment in lower-Manhattan that’s over three times as large and only pay a few hundred more than her.
I like tiny apartment living, but I need a bathroom in unit and laundry. I could do without any "living room" space, I more need space for a desktop computer setup.
Very cool. I’ve always wanted to learn how to skateboard. But now, it’s like I have no health benefits and cannot afford to break any bones. 😞 but hey really cool video NYC to LA and LA to NYC series of videos like this would be Trey Cool 😎

Is a tax toilet why he doesn’t have toilets in units.
Her apartment is so clean and organized.
Easy to keep clean it’s so small lmao
Minimalist...love it!
It has to be
Otherwise It won't be livable XD
$1750 for such a small space should be illegal... but she did make most out of it, so props for that!
Why illegal? People are not forced to live in NYC like a rat.
I’m a New Yorker, $1.750 is A lot for closet sized apt. This same channel profiled people with similar size for $500-$1100.

This is insane. Girl, move to Queens and get a real apartment for the same price.
