Since the release of this video three months ago, I would like to add information regarding the standards of the burst. Currently in 2023, most of the French Rafales are at the F4 standard, but by 2040 there are plans to bring all French Rafales to the latest official standard planned, which is the F5 standard. In the meantime, the manufacturer Dassault Aviation and its partners are said to be working on a possible Standard F6, but this should not see the light of day before 2060.
If i'm not mistaking i think that the F4 standard as been validate only few month ago so it will hard to modernise all the F3 standard rafales into F3/R standard (equivalent to the F4 standard) in just few month it wil take few years. But the new rafales that are being delivered to France in the "all Rafale" project to replace the good old mirage and increase the capabilities will be native F4 standard of course.

You are just a stupid guy who knows absolutely nothing at all. Typhoon has been developped MAINLY as a superiority air defense aircraft, so this is BASICALLY a specialized aircraft. Typhoon has been further developped in multirole function BUT NOT with the same success as Rafale. Typhoon is still a good "interceptor" but THIS IS STILL AN AWFULL aircraft for air to ground mission, penetrating deeply in the enemy territoty There is also a very simple reason little STUPID GUY, most country that runs Typhoons BOUGHT F 35, F35 is also a speciliazed aircraft but the the area of "attack aircraft", so Tyhoon and F35 are complementary aircraft. France didn't want to be so much "american" dependant, so at the begining IT HAS ALWAYS BEEN CLEAR THAT RAFALE WOULD BE ULTIMATELY MULTIROLE and would possibly evolve in a another navy version (this was not clear at the beginning as "buying" american fighter jet for the Charles de Gaulles carrier was an "open" option, Dassault simply proved later to the "DGA" that its Rafle could do this adaptation) So fundamentally, designing a "per se" multirole did have a great impact on basic architectures choices, and quickly DGA and Dassault came to the conclusion that based on the architectural choices required by other countries, Typhoon would never be at all a good multirole fighter.... and lately, they have been totally right. Contrary to many other european countries, France leads external operations since long time... and France needed ABSOLUTELY an aircraft that would have enhanced air attack capablliies. Clients of the Typhoon were only interested by "air defence superiority" as most of them had ordered the F35, so France kwew that Typhoon Multorole would comme VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY lately, and would porbably not be as efficient as expected. If Rafale is still selling very well and Typhoon has not recorded new customers since long time.... thera are obvious reasons. As most countries have not the defence budget of USA able to manage huge specialized fleets of aircraft, Rafale is the ONLY GOOD MODERN SOLUTION proving to have an excellent superiority air defence capabilities combined with efficent air attack capabilities, far better than multirole version F16 Viper, and better than F18 Hornet Indonesia wanted F35, but US refused and offered F16 VIper.... Indonesia immediately switched to Rafale (and also french Scorpene submarine), considering it as far more advanced that F16 VIper, and got absolutely NO INTEREST at all for the Typhoon.... because Indenosia was very interested by "Omnirole capabilities" that doen't really have the Typhoon as today. And you know what ? Typhoon has never beaten a Rafale in NATO dogfight training, the only one to have today superior capacities in air defense over Rafale is F22 (not speaking of very new russian SU-57 for which we know very few things) And between SCAF and Tempest, this will be the same thing. SCAF is currently designed to be "per se" multirole and to further evolve in a "navy" version, Tempest is designed mainly as the successor of the Typhoon so AS a superiority air defence aircraft because AGAIN britis, italiian, Japanese.... have alreday F35 that are targetting air attack role. In fact... there are currenttly two American NGAD programs... one leaded by Northrop to be the successor of F35 for the american air force and one leaded by Boeing to be the successor of F18 Hornet for the american Navy... One is a specialized aircraft, the other is clearly a "multirolle aircraft", so SCAF will be likely more a competitor to the Boeing NGAD program, not really for the Northrop program who focuses clearly on furtivity.
Initially, it wasn't planned to build 250 aircraft for France, but 320. Then it was reduced to 286. Then, reduiced again, but without knowing the final target. The defense white book define a target of 225 fighter aircraft for both air force and Navy. But it can be changed. "Tranche 5" order is awaited and planned for the next month's to come. 180 is the order at that time but for France it is not finished.

I think the Rafale F4 will be one of the best choices on the international fighter market, even to prefer over the F-35. It would be the best replacement for Austrias badly cut back EF Typhoons TR1. But sadly this will never happen, because austrian politicians did not much care about sufficient air defense.
The Rafale's jammer is called BAN Jammer. It is fully integrated with SPECTRA, navigation and attack systems with data fusion picked up and recorded by the central computer. It can totally jam the radar system of the Su-35 and defeat it in dogfight as demonstrated in Egypt recently.

Eurofighter would have sold another batch of aircraft to Saudi Arabia but it was denied that by Germany with its veto. That influence alone stopped other potential sales ( who wants to buy from a ditherer ) . EFT already was more expensive than a Rafale and Dassault had dropped its poor radar and moved for an AESA radar and developed the air to ground strike package earlier. EFT was slow to convert to ground strike because Tornado was already doing that job and all four partners didn't like parting with money. The F15 had a similar slow development ( Israel did the hard work) . All aircraft have design limitations to meet the goals needed. Rafale had close coupled canards for low speed handling for aircraft carrier use and less sweep on its wings but that gives it excellent ordnance weight advantage however it is not as advantageous for high speed. EFT has more powerful engines, increased sweep on wing angles , variable intakes allow height, canards are forward for leverage ( centre of gravity ) and biased for transonic manoeuvrability. Yes both have sweet spots and weakness points but both are capable and effective compared to Russian and Chinese equivalent aircraft. So which is better? Maybe if you want speed then Eurofighter suits. If you want cost consideration Gripen. If you want a good all round package then Rafale. All keep evolving with upgrades but perhaps Gripen with a new engine and layout has evolved more than its cousins and its roadside ability is way better in today's Ukraine conflict and no other aircraft has that trick. The Rafale programm itself started in 1988. In 1984 it was a technological demonstrator. Rafale A (first flight in 1986 ) and C (1991) have a general aerodynamic in common, but they are two completely different aircraft.

The reason for export success are USA. The lack of credibility for sustaining the fleet in the future due to US shifts in alliance means that France is more credible since it's willing to support the aircraft of any non democratic nation as long as it's pay a higher price than US would ask.

"generation" does not man anything. It is a checkbox list that does bot match the real effectiveness of the jet. For instance, if you go to a technical choice of your own, you won't check the "5th gen" list but still you can outperform 5th gen jet. Only effectiveness matters. And 5th generation do not mean better effectiveness.
5th generation means bringing weapons along not subject to drag , higher G force ability with internal weapons, better stealth, stealth allows you to fly high, for longer, in thin air using less fuel, no targeting pod hanging off it's built in, entrained cooling on the exhaust gas ( smaller target ) 360° awareness, 2 way data link to weapons, radar double the size and power or LPI , EW capable. Basically a new phone is always better than an old phone.

Currently, while Dassault and all its partners are working on the latest official standard, namely the F5, the French army is at the same time upgrading all its current Rafales to the F4 standard. Since the release of this video three months ago, I would like to add information regarding the standards of the burst. Currently in 2023, most of the French Rafales are at the F4 standard, but by 2040 there are plans to bring all French Rafales to the latest official standard planned, which is the F5 standard. In the meantime, the manufacturer Dassault Aviation and its partners are said to be working on a possible Standard F6, but this should not see the light of day before 2060.
If i'm not mistaking i think that the F4 standard as been validate only few month ago so it will hard to modernise all the F3 standard rafales into F3/R standard (equivalent to the F4 standard) in just few month it wil take few years. But the new rafales that are being delivered to France in the "all Rafale" project to replace the good old mirage and increase the capabilities will be native F4 standard of course.

Typhoon has been developped MAINLY as a superiority air defense aircraft, so this is BASICALLY a specialized aircraft.
Typhoon has been further developped in multirole function BUT NOT with the same success as Rafale.
Typhoon is still a good "interceptor" but THIS IS STILL AN AWFULL aircraft for air to ground mission, penetrating deeply in the enemy territoty
There is also a very simple reason little STUPID GUY, most country that runs Typhoons BOUGHT F 35, F35 is also a speciliazed aircraft but the the area of "attack aircraft", so Tyhoon and F35 are complementary aircraft.
France didn't want to be so much "american" dependant, so at the begining IT HAS ALWAYS BEEN CLEAR THAT RAFALE WOULD BE ULTIMATELY MULTIROLE and would possibly evolve in a another navy version (this was not clear at the beginning as "buying" american fighter jet for the Charles de Gaulles carrier was an "open" option, Dassault simply proved later to the "DGA" that its Rafle could do this adaptation)
So fundamentally, designing a "per se" multirole did have a great impact on basic architectures choices, and quickly DGA and Dassault came to the conclusion that based on the architectural choices required by other countries, Typhoon would never be at all a good multirole fighter.... and lately, they have been totally right.
Contrary to many other european countries, France leads external operations since long time... and France needed ABSOLUTELY an aircraft that would have enhanced air attack capablliies. Clients of the Typhoon were only interested by "air defence superiority" as most of them had ordered the F35, so France kwew that Typhoon Multorole would comme VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY lately, and would porbably not be as efficient as expected.
If Rafale is still selling very well and Typhoon has not recorded new customers since long time.... thera are obvious reasons. As most countries have not the defence budget of USA able to manage huge specialized fleets of aircraft, Rafale is the ONLY GOOD MODERN SOLUTION proving to have an excellent superiority air defence capabilities combined with efficent air attack capabilities, far better than multirole version F16 Viper, and better than F18 Hornet
Indonesia wanted F35, but US refused and offered F16 VIper.... Indonesia immediately switched to Rafale (and also french Scorpene submarine), considering it as far more advanced that F16 VIper, and got absolutely NO INTEREST at all for the Typhoon.... because Indenosia was very interested by "Omnirole capabilities" that doen't really have the Typhoon as today.
And you know what ? Typhoon has never beaten a Rafale in NATO dogfight training, the only one to have today superior capacities in air defense over Rafale is F22 (not speaking of very new russian SU-57 for which we know very few things)
And between SCAF and Tempest, this will be the same thing. SCAF is currently designed to be "per se" multirole and to further evolve in a "navy" version, Tempest is designed mainly as the successor of the Typhoon so AS a superiority air defence aircraft because AGAIN britis, italiian, Japanese.... have alreday F35 that are targetting air attack role.
In fact... there are currenttly two American NGAD programs... one leaded by Northrop to be the successor of F35 for the american air force and one leaded by Boeing to be the successor of F18 Hornet for the american Navy... One is a specialized aircraft, the other is clearly a "multirolle aircraft", so SCAF will be likely more a competitor to the Boeing NGAD program, not really for the Northrop program who focuses clearly on furtivity.

The defense white book define a target of 225 fighter aircraft for both air force and Navy. But it can be changed. I think the Rafale F4 will be one of the best choices on the international fighter market, even to prefer over the F-35. It would be the best replacement for Austrias badly cut back EF Typhoons TR1. But sadly this will never happen, because austrian politicians did not much care about sufficient air defense.
And if they don't really need it, French armament companies will be reluctant to work with Aussies after what happened with the subs.

The Rafale's jammer is called BAN Jammer. It is fully integrated with SPECTRA, navigation and attack systems with data fusion picked up and recorded by the central computer.

Eurofighter would have sold another batch of aircraft to Saudi Arabia but it was denied that by Germany with its veto.
That influence alone stopped other potential sales ( who wants to buy from a ditherer ) . EFT already was more expensive than a Rafale and Dassault had dropped its poor radar and moved for an AESA radar and developed the air to ground strike package earlier.
EFT was slow to convert to ground strike because Tornado was already doing that job and all four partners didn't like parting with money. The F15 had a similar slow development ( Israel did the hard work) .
All aircraft have design limitations to meet the goals needed. Rafale had close coupled canards for low speed handling for aircraft carrier use and less sweep on its wings but that gives it excellent ordnance weight advantage however it is not as advantageous for high speed.
EFT has more powerful engines, increased sweep on wing angles , variable intakes allow height, canards are forward for leverage ( centre of gravity ) and biased for transonic manoeuvrability.
Yes both have sweet spots and weakness points but both are capable and effective compared to Russian and Chinese equivalent aircraft.
So which is better?
Maybe if you want speed then Eurofighter suits. If you want cost consideration Gripen. If you want a good all round package then Rafale. All keep evolving with upgrades but perhaps Gripen with a new engine and layout has evolved more than its cousins and its roadside ability is way better in today's Ukraine conflict and no other aircraft has that trick.

"generation" does not man anything. It is a checkbox list that does bot match the real effectiveness of the jet.
For instance, if you go to a technical choice of your own, you won't check the "5th gen" list but still you can outperform 5th gen jet.

And 5th generation do not mean better effectiveness.
5th generation means bringing weapons along not subject to drag , higher G force ability with internal weapons, better stealth, stealth allows you to fly high, for longer, in thin air using less fuel, no targeting pod hanging off it's built in, entrained cooling on the exhaust gas ( smaller target ) 360° awareness, 2 way data link to weapons, radar double the size and power or LPI , EW capable.
