Mr Steves, your documentaries are wonderfull. It has become my way of relaxing. Repeating it over and over. The way you deliver your narrations, is excellent ! Keep it up, SIR !
Orvieto is my favorite city/town to visit in Italy. The views from the city walls looking out over the valleys that surround it, Pozzo San Patrizio (Saint Patrick’s Well), the stunning Duomo, the underground city dug out of the tufa rock by the ancient Etruscans and Romans, the Papal Palace and the absolute best food found in Italy IMHO and the fact that you can easily take a train from Orvieto to Rome and other towns and cities in Umbria, Tuscany and beyond make it a marvelous place to visit.
There is the MONEY BANK and then there is a MEMORY BANK Just think how big your memory bank is Rick Steve’s. Thanks for sharing a part of them with us. I am Italian living in Canada and my soul feels so happy when I am near my culture even if only in a video Ciao ! 🇨🇦🇹🇯
Wonderful video! Just got back from Italy! My favorite spot is Cortona! I’ve been there many times and cannot get tired of it! Love seeing “Lago Trasimeno” from the square where the Garibaldi’s monument is located. This monument has a special felling for me: I’m from southern Brazil (living in 🇺🇸, my family come trim Italy to Brazil) where Giuseppe and Anita Garibaldi played an important role in the history of Brazil: the Farroupilha Revolution! Every southern Brazilian knows that shaped The southern states of Brasil and its culture. Another wonderful place to visit is Passignano Sul Trasimeno! Renting a place with lake view is another great experience. There’s a bakery called “Caffé Della Sosta”! The best pastries ever! Fresh and delicious! Getting there early morning is the best time of the day.
Yay👏🏼👏🏼so happy 😃 going to Tuscany in April 2023. Just booked the ticket ❤️🛫🇮🇹❤️I had to go to urgent care (cat bite- I was too slow giving out the treat. All better now 👍🏻) The doctor saw I had Rick Steves Italy book and started raving about his experience using his RS Paris guide. He used the guided walks and said the sights were right where RS said they would be. And the names of the restaurants and the people that work there. Am loving the Monday Night Travel 🧳 shows 🤩👏🏼👏🏼 Thank you 😊 Just what Monday night needs 🛫🧳❤️🙌🏼🤩🇮🇹
I’m Italian from both sides of my family and was unfortunately born in the US. So I understand how you feel disconnected there. I felt that way too, until I moved to Europe five years ago. Now I live in Germany. Not crazy about it here, but I’m only a two hour plane ride from Italy, where I hope to be at some point in my life.
Appreciate Rick's hard working for those meaningful and fantastic travel video!! Your video not just a "travel", it's the history, the culture of places, which is what travel is really about (Unlike the video of some vloggers nowaday). Thank you Rick a lot to let ours like myself who can not afford an overseas travel to have an interesting experiences and understand how amazing the world is! God bless you Rick
Lots of good memories here. The hill towns are indeed lovely - but strenuous when you tour them on a heavily loaded tandem bike as we did! The climb to Volterra nearly did us in!
15:20 Steve grew up around pianos. The family owned a piano store named "Steves Sound of Music" where they imported and sold pianos, and also tuned pianos. This has got to be one of my favorite tours. If I ever made it to Europe this is the European adventure I'd be after.
If daddy was alive, we'd have loved to watch Rick Steves' travelogues. We used to binge watch Samantha Brown too. Love your sunny personality, Rick. It matches the vibes of the places you visit.
Wow....could be the word I can utter to myself. Italy is just amazing I wonder to myself the superiority of painting and architecture. Thanks again Rick. There is no words to compliment.
Just enjoying his masterpiece relaxing on a tiny restful balcony even though it's an aged episode. Could not get enough of it gives me immense euphoria after an extended day of chores. Peace out ❤️
I had been to all these towns,. A lovely region!. The most relaxing historical places in Italy! Loved, and wish to revisit the areas in the very near future. 💕👍

Rick Steves, I have all your videos on DVD and they were an inspiration for me when planning my travels. Your books and videos have guided me in Austria, Switzerland, Germany (Until I moved to Germany), France, Italy, Belgium and the Netherworlds. Thank you.
We bought a large platter at that exact ceramic shop in Orvieto (Giacomini). And we picked up some fleas from a dog that stuck by us during lunch, LOL, perhaps hoping for a piece of cheese.
I understand I m from London.. my heart stops in Italy. I m poor otherwise would have moved there a lifetime ago. Now with brexit no hope..I ve been to visit since childhood in 60s!
Rick was so much younger here. Funny thing is that if you go back to 2005, the writing of these videos are the same as today (yes, recycled writing) but only Rick's getting older. Nonetheless, always enjoying his videos
Italy is the most beautiful country in the Europe for me. I always go and stay there for 1-2 weeks. The problem is the urban transportation. To overcome this problem I use Yolcu360 for renting a car. Never failed once
God rest her soul, my mother really enjoyed the shows. I miss her so very much
Look at you bustin’ out on the piano!!!!! How can we not adore you 💝

K so we need Rick more so than ever...his gentle voice and considerate attitudes in his travel is the exact opposite of the "ugly American" traveler.
