Quest is optimised for the best possible settings.You've been able to up the Res since it's first month release. Such will reduce the battery life. They've gone for the best Res that doesn't drain the battery.

Update if the USB C was your issue. I have Java Minecraft running with vivecraft. I've added shaders and resource packs to make it look almost photo realistic. There are obviously mods if you prefer toon or cell shading and all the other resource paks and shaders. Use virtual desktop or for a free option choose ALVR. It's so beautiful, I built my home out of glass on a beach where the sunrise and sunset along with moonset rise and fall over my home and I spend more time just watching the (2) pass over than "play" minecraft LoL. Have fun!!!

Finally got it to work - you forgot to mention one of the instructions from the original TH-cam video: th-cam.com/video/Qh1NfLwNMaQ/w-d-xo.html. For these resolution files to work you first have to connect to a PC and issue the adb command: tcpip 5555 (which you can do either from a command prompt or from SideQuest). This gets reset every time you reboot (or power off) the Quest and you have to do it again (this is a GOOD THING as if something hoses up, rebooting should fix it). Also you might have to hit one of the resolution icons a couple of times for it to work. To get this to work on, say an airplane, you'd have to leave the headset in standby mode rather than powered off.

Here I’ll explain it: first you have to charge it completely and connect it to your computer then you access it’s data to enter the specs. Next you will have to put on the headset and allow it. Now is the easy bit, you will need to sell your soul to the devil and shoot an angel with a glock. Now unplug your headset and buy a new one. Your welcome now you have lower reasalusoin and no reputation nor headset no more.

Sadly, for some wierd reason it doesn't work for my Oculus Quest. I've followed the instructions as mentioned from you and I was even able to see the variety of resolution options in the TV categories but when I tryed to pick any resolution I haven't notice a single difference. After clicking the same icon twice, some window appeared, informing me that the app crashed. Any ideas what to do? :)
Same problem. Something tells me that this isn't a free mod because there's a new file that's called "adbshellcommandtaskerplugin_5.0.apk" and when you click it, it takes you to a $3 app... -_-

I have some cheap $100 laptop just to do stuff like this bc I dont have the money to buy a spec out gaming pc. You should try to save up for a low end laptop so you can do things like in the video. You obviously cant game though

it aged normally i'd say. given both headsets are getting the same features with every update so far, except 120hz but that's because the quest's screens just aren't capable of that

Downloaded the adb driver, I'm able to connect my quest and download games off side quest, however in the command prompt adb brings up nothing, it says adb not recognized as an internal external command

I have the Samsung Odyssey WMR. I am pretty new to VR so I was wondering is there much of a difference between the Samsung and the quest? Also I am kind of worried about battery life and life expectancy of the battery.

So I got this to successfully work and the resolution difference is quite noticeable; however, after a restart or shutdown of the Quest, the shortcut resolution apks in Oculus TV or Sidequest no longer work when I select them. Do I have to reconnect to a PC each and every time to re enter that last adb command to get them to work again? Or is there some sort of workaround within the Quest headset?
Unfortunately it's a stat. Only about 2% of people watch the end. Once they know the video is finished they leave. I said in my thank you video that I didn't want to do this but it's the only way I see where people will hear it :(

This is super-sampling surely? Good job the SN 835 SoC can still operate when practicality melting. I used to use Vridge and a oneplus mobile for VR and this chip can handle 1440p @ 60fps + super-sampling with no down-clocking.
This isn’t actually adjusting the resolution, correct? It appears to be adjusting the video settings, mainly sharpness and possibly contrast to make it look more “clear”. But the resolution is still the default 1440x1600 per eye.

Hey, have you ever tried RTX Voice, not saying the back ground noise is bad but I can hear the fan from your computer still running, RTX voice will detect and eliminateit only focusing on your voice. Try it I use it all the time. It’s from made GeForce Nvidia themselves.
How does this affect performance since the Quest is already a bit sluggish at times? Also, what will happen when Oculus pushes an update? Will it simply revert your settings or will it possibly brick your device?

No no warranty is lost :) This is just an app install that boosts the quests resolution. The second you uninstall it or reset your quest, it it back to normal.

It absolutely affects framerate and heat and battery life, and may be dangerous. Just because something is unlocked for developers doesn't mean it's a good idea to try it out. the chances of burning the battery or any of the quest's parts is small, but there. If the quest ran reliably at higher resolutions they would be set. This 'mod', is not new, not by a longshot and about a year ago when it was first discussed the consensus has been that it's not worth the extra battery drain (on all apps) or reduced fps it causes (on demanding apps). The whole reason it's not an option is because the default resolution is what each developer chose for their given app, and they can add in different options on a case-by-case basis, this is basically just bypassing it so the work of their optimization team is meaningless, and you're free to give yourself motion sickness or kill your battery all by yourself lol

I did everything correctly, but now all the ADB apks are just sitting there in my Quest, alongside Pavlov. What did I miss? I did the extra command too, the one you linked in the description, by the way. My resolution is not better and I can't click those files to the point that they do anything
So, I have a question. As a person who can't afford the highest end stuff, I can't upgrade my pc so much as just modify settings to make it run better. I have a 1st get oculus quest, and it works fine with link, but I can't help but feel like the resolution I get is.... So.... Bad. I can literally play most games (example: destiny 2, division 3, *insert star wars title here*) on max settings with no issues, but any time I try to play vr, it's like my pc doesn't even know what 720 is.... I have a question..... I play a lot of rec room on the quest, and my biggest problem is recording sounds on the game recorders that you can use to build rooms in there. The problem is the quest has such a good noise cancelling microphone, it won’t pick up any TH-cam videos for sound effects even if I put my phone right next to the mic in the quest. I’ve tried numerous times. Is there something that I can plug into the quest so that I can produce certain sounds in there room game itself that you know of?
As far as I understand it when you screencap with the quest it doesn't record microphone audio. A lot of people wear lapel mics and record their voice to their phone or pc, then sync their voice with the footage in post. It's not an elegant solution, but it seems to be the most effective one (besides oculus enabling the mic while recording of course). There are videos of people showing how to do what I mentioned.
In DOS you dont have to keep typing the same command in over and over. Just press up on your arrow keys and all previous command entered for that session you can scroll through using up arrow.
When I try to do adb install it opens some unlicesned zip extractor program Express Zip File and just unzips the files into an Assets folder on my Windows 10 PC. do i have to drag THOSE FOLDERS onto CMC prompt again and do adb install (drag each of those new extracted folders?) thank you

Yeah, there's definitely fps drops when you go higher res, just leave it on default even if its blurry, but that depends on the game.

There should not be performace issues with link because the pc handles all the processing when using link.

@@exiledd This isn't 100% true. Yes the PC does 99% of the work but the quest still needs to send inputs and decode the files sent from the PC.
My glasses are as wide as yours. Does the Quest fit comfortably over them? Any issues with them on trying to find/keep the sweet spot?

To what Res did it upgrade exactly??
Should I wait to get the Quest or just go ahead and get it ? I have the Oculus Rift. Will my eye pieces fit in the Quest ?
I would say maybe wait because right now the quest prices are pretty insane.
i successfully ordered mine with retail price on wednesday, it's hard to find indeed but there's still plenty of places with resonable price if u know where to look
Hey, have you ever tried RTX Voice, not saying the back ground noise is bad but I can hear the fan from your computer still running, RTX voice will detect and eliminateit only focusing on your voice. Try it I use it all the time. It’s from made GeForce Nvidia themselves.
I actually made an entire video on that but I'm on amd. That and I actually turn off my fans while Im recording so I think that might just be noise.
How does this affect performance since the Quest is already a bit sluggish at times? Also, what will happen when Oculus pushes an update? Will it simply revert your settings or will it possibly brick your device?

No no warranty is lost :) This is just an app install that boosts the quests resolution. The second you uninstall it or reset your quest, it it back to normal.
Could this be used to unlock the refresh rate?
Does doing this effect anything on the quest.. ie; battery performance

Just wanted to ask how frame rate is affected. Especially for games like Beat Saber and Thumper I would love to do this but thats a bit of a concern. Any idea?
It absolutely affects framerate and heat and battery life, and may be dangerous. Just because something is unlocked for developers doesn't mean it's a good idea to try it out. the chances of burning the battery or any of the quest's parts is small, but there. If the quest ran reliably at higher resolutions they would be set.
This 'mod', is not new, not by a longshot and about a year ago when it was first discussed the consensus has been that it's not worth the extra battery drain (on all apps) or reduced fps it causes (on demanding apps). The whole reason it's not an option is because the default resolution is what each developer chose for their given app, and they can add in different options on a case-by-case basis, this is basically just bypassing it so the work of their optimization team is meaningless, and you're free to give yourself motion sickness or kill your battery all by yourself lol

In the .apk folder, it looks like there are many resolutions. Which one does this upgrade to? What is the new resolution?
I’m getting a Quest in a few days. Is there like a list/playlist of essential mods I can work through when I get it? This is at the top of the list!
I did everything correctly, but now all the ADB apks are just sitting there in my Quest, alongside Pavlov. What did I miss? I did the extra command too, the one you linked in the description, by the way. My resolution is not better and I can't click those files to the point that they do anything
So, I have a question. As a person who can't afford the highest end stuff, I can't upgrade my pc so much as just modify settings to make it run better. I have a 1st get oculus quest, and it works fine with link, but I can't help but feel like the resolution I get is.... So.... Bad. I can literally play most games (example: destiny 2, division 3, *insert star wars title here*) on max settings with no issues, but any time I try to play vr, it's like my pc doesn't even know what 720 is.... Halp? XD
im not really good at tech so maybe im missing something simple, but it wont let me view the downloaded oculus res files. i used your link but once downloaded they dont show up in my downloads it trys to open them in explorer. how do i get it to where it lets me view them as a list like you showed to drag and drop?

How do you uninstall/revert the changes and will this affect the warranty? Unless somebody can confirm that it resets whenever the Quest is restarted.

why dont u show how to do this thru or with sidequest AS iN THE adb commands in sidequest since most ppl already have that (not talking about the feature/toggle button in sidequest which disappears after every reset

I have a question..... I play a lot of rec room on the quest, and my biggest problem is recording sounds on the game recorders that you can use to build rooms in there. The problem is the quest has such a good noise cancelling microphone, it won’t pick up any TH-cam videos for sound effects even if I put my phone right next to the mic in the quest. I’ve tried numerous times. Is there something that I can plug into the quest so that I can produce certain sounds in there room game itself that you know of?
As far as I understand it when you screencap with the quest it doesn't record microphone audio. A lot of people wear lapel mics and record their voice to their phone or pc, then sync their voice with the footage in post. It's not an elegant solution, but it seems to be the most effective one (besides oculus enabling the mic while recording of course). There are videos of people showing how to do what I mentioned.

In DOS you dont have to keep typing the same command in over and over. Just press up on your arrow keys and all previous command entered for that session you can scroll through using up arrow.
When I try to do adb install it opens some unlicesned zip extractor program Express Zip File and just unzips the files into an Assets folder on my Windows 10 PC. do i have to drag THOSE FOLDERS onto CMC prompt again and do adb install (drag each of those new extracted folders?) thank you
