    Royal Enfield do really contact you with your bike the way I felt when I first started riding 30+ years ago. They are so easy to work on yourself and aftermarket parts are available so easily and within any budget. I watched your end can install and I am definitely going to go down the same route with end can and air filter. Not going the hole hog with the cam shift though. Enjoy. Hopefully Enfields new models will continue in the same vein.

    Hey Vinnie, I know this video is a few months old now but I’ve just put the DNA in my ‘21 Himalayan. Took it out yesterday for its first run…the improved performance so noticeable both on & off road. Has a much throatier growl now, feels like a bigger bike underneath you than it actually is. Top end speed better too, actually had to check my speed once over 80 to make sure I wasn’t speeding…never needed to do that before. Thanks for the top tip mate awesome 🤙🏻

    G'day Vinnie, mate, l have added and changed a few things on the 2021 Interceptor, fitted a high lift camshaft, DNA air filter kit, booster plug and one tooth up front sprocket, replaced all the indicators to smaller black ones, replaced the tail light to classic round on black, set of black bar end mirrors, cruising seat, better brake pads, performance mufflers and iridium sparkplugs, and man the think fly's it's not the same bike, cheers mate, Neil 🤠.

      @@roadblastmedia hi Vinnie, the camshaft is made by S&S through TEC in England l wouldn't say easy to install but not hard, the cam builds power sooner by allowing more fuel in and clears the exhaust fasted improves top end breathing, much faster response at the throttle, the cam must be installed with a fuel boost kit, DNA filter, correct heat range iridium sparkplugs also a good idea to help fuel usage is to add a extra tooth sprocket that brings the revs back at top gear speed, before up grade 70 mpg highway now 64 mpg little loss of economy for a better ridding machine, it has blown away some bigger bike's at the lights Already,

    Vinnie, I pulled the DNA filter from my bike, and I reinstalled the OEM filter and airbox intake. I did the same with my car. Why? One, I was afraid of messing up my MAF sensor. Two, I wanted better dust protection. Those were the main reasons behind putting things back to stock. A couple of accidental, happy side effects were better fuel delivery and fewer vibrations.
    As you know, high flow filters like DNA and K&N have to be cleaned and reoiled when they're dirty. When reoiling the filter, it's easy to put too much oil on it. When operating the bike, this surplus oil will be sucked in to the engine. Unfortunately, between the engine and the fuel injectors is the MAF (mass airflow) sensor. If it gets oil on it, it'll be messed up, particularly if it's one that has a hot element. Since the MAF sensor plays an integral role in smooth, economical operation of an engine, I switched back to the OEM filter to avoid that problem. I didn't want to open that can of worms, as the engine's operation will be screwed as a result. Plus, the sensor by itself is an expensive part.
    Also, high flow filters pass more dust; that's just the way it is. You can have high airflow or good particulate protection; you can't have both. It's no different than the choice we make with tires: you either go for high grip or high mileage; you can't have both. With filters, you can either get high airflow or good protection; one can't have both. When I held my DNA filter up to the light, there were pin holes through which I could SEE the light! While the oil is supposed to catch these dust particles, I don't know. That was another, yet secondary, reason why I put my bike back to OEM configuration.
    A couple of happy, accidental side effects were fewer vibes and better fuel delivery. I'd noticed that, after an hour or so, my hands felt like they were asleep. I particularly noticed this when I used my emergency lights to alert those behind me that I was coasting in to a stop or slowing down. With the stock filter, the bike was BUTTERY SMOOTH; I barely noticed the vibes!
    Also, fuel delivery was better, especially when coming off idle, like when powering out of a corner. I'd noticed on recent rides that I wasn't as relaxed when powering out of a corner. After going back to the OEM filter, the fuel delivery, particularly off idle, was so much better; I was so much more relaxed when powering out of the corners than I had been.
    Why didn't I notice all this before? Because I'd installed the DNA filter soon after I got the bike; I didn't have a frame of reference to compare the two.
    There are two things I miss though. One is the sound of the bike; with the DNA filter on it, she thumps like she MEANS it! I also miss how the bike pulled, particularly in 4th and 5th gears.
    That's not to say that the DNA filter is bad; it's quite nicely made, actually. The DNA filter fit BETTER in my car than the OEM does; I'm serious! The thing with high flow filters is that they're more appropriate for racing applications, where high airflow gets you more HP; every milllisecond counds in racing. Plus, race motors are rebuilt frequently, so ingestion of dust isn't a concern.
    Overall though, I prefer the bike with the OEM filter and airbox intake. One, I don't have to worry about messing up the MAF sensor. Two, there's more dust protection. Three, there are fewer vibes; the bike rides much smoother than it did with the DNA filter. Four, the fuel, and thus the power, delivery is much smoother with the OEM filter, which makes for a more relaxed riding experience. While I miss the thump and greater pull, I think that the OEM filter works better for me. Cheers!

    • @roadblastmedia
      @roadblastmedia  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Cheers mate thats very good to know! Im not noticing the vibrations as much but that could just be me i will keep an eye on how much dust gets through though mate! Cheers for letting me know!

    • @markymarknj
      @markymarknj 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@roadblastmedia I made the change more to prevent messing up my MAF sensor and less for the dust. Since NZ is in the middle of the Pacific, I don't reckon dust would be much of an issue there. With any high flow, cloth air filter like a DNA or K&N, they have to be cleaned and reoiled. When put fresh oil in the filter, it's possible to overdo it; that was my main concern. That said, there are two cement plants within 5-10 miles of me, and my rides sometimes take me near them.

      Hi! Sorry to dig out this 8 month video.
      I have one in my Himalayan BMC air filter, but with oem cover and notice less rpm in 5th gear. I have the plastic open cover from hitchcok' s but keept the oem cover. Much safier i guess... Regarding the washing, the BMC instructions tells to clean it every 25000km. Those air filters come ready to installed, did you notice any oil in your fingers? I dont. We have to be gentle when add oil to this type of filters before washing and i think, correct me if i'm wrong, let the oil disperse and dry for sometime after you put it in the bike. Let me know you opinions. Thanks Cheers

    • @markymarknj
      @markymarknj ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@pmfsify it's precisely because you have to be careful reapplying oil to a cleaned filter that I opted to return to OEM; it's precisely because it's easy to apply too much oil to a cleaned filter and mess up the MAF sensor that I went back to OEM. Also, the high flow filters, in order to flow more air, also allow more dirt; look for OEM vs. K&N filter on TH-cam, and you'll see what I mean. With an OEM filter, I don't have to worry about any of that; I just remove the old one, replace with a new one, and I'm done-no muss, no fuss.
