Hello 👋 I had to reboot my Mac and don't know how many or even what size my partitions should be. Could you do a vlog on that for people who just like me are Total Beginners please 🙏❤
I bought this harddrive with Sierra, and was understood I could upgrade to Catalina. I tried following your instructions, and all I get is the drive can't be erased
Yes in this video we don't cover a lot of troubleshooting issues that may occur - you may find some help here recoverit.wondershare.com/mac-tips/erase-process-has-failed-mac.html#:~:text=As%20stated%20above%2C%20if%20your,macOS%20from%20the%20App%20Store.
For mac partition should be: mac extended journaled? and the partition for pc would be : Exfat? Or apfs? Help please I nedd 800 pc and just alittle for mac
Extended journaled is the format for a hierarchical file system. And I believe the same is true for what you mentioned on pc if you need a way to partition the drive in PC there is a video on this th-cam.com/video/MqHYDHc6-oI/w-d-xo.html
Delete a partition WARNING: When you delete a partition, all the data on it is erased. Be sure to back up your data before you begin. In the Disk Utility app on your Mac, select a volume in the sidebar, then click the Partition button in the toolbar. If Disk Utility isn’t open, click the Launchpad icon in the Dock, type Disk Utility in the Search field, then click the Disk Utility icon . In the Apple File System Space Sharing dialog, click Partition. In the pie chart, click the partition you want to delete, then click the Delete button . If the Delete button is dimmed, you can’t delete the selected partition. Click Apply. Read the information in the Partition Device dialog, then click Partition. After the operation finishes, click Done. Erase a partition In the Disk Utility app on your Mac, choose View > Show All Devices, then select the container you want to erase in the sidebar. If Disk Utility isn’t open, click the Launchpad icon in the Dock, type Disk Utility in the Search field, then click the Disk Utility icon . Click the Erase button in the toolbar. If the Erase button is dimmed, you can’t erase the selected container. Type a name for the volume in the Name field. Click the Format pop-up menu, then choose a file system format. After the operation finishes, click Done.
I believe it is possible - it may not be very efficient though and it may not be possible for your machine depending on how much space you have. Are you using bootcamp or some type of sideloader?
This seems to be good with external & flash drives but what I'm looking for is, to partition the main drive like I was able to before Apple did this APFS business. When I try to partition and make the partition to Apple's old system ( to install an older version of MacOs ) it gives me an error.

What if Disk Utility ALWAYS (= since ±2016) grey out (= not applicable) the Partition link, even for new empty external disks?!??
Unfortunately I have not come across that issue before - if you figure out a solution I would be curious to know.

Not sure on that one, I believe the example shown is for the main drive but it has been a long time since the video was made
