    It’s always interesting watching girls do air freezes. Their center of balance is definitely different. Also, the huge flexibility on their legs make them hesitant to go higher with the hips which forces their arm to carry all that weight at a low angle. Guys tend to go higher almost handstand like. Girls are almost horizontal. Not all for sure. Depends on your body’s natural flexibility and strength.

    The way I teach air freeze is by not talking about the kicking leg (the one that goes to the head) at all for the majority of the learning phase.
    Instead, I am super focusing on the leaping leg (the one that leaves the ground second and lands first).
    Say, for example, that you place your RIGHT hand on the ground. Then the kicking leg is the LEFT LEG and the leaping leg is the RIGHT LEG.
    I always teach to use the right leg to kick to the SKY and the quickly bring it down close to the right palm in order to land.
    the point is the kick it up (which raises the pelvic) and then kick it quickly down to land.
    The person learning can try either to kick straight up to the sky or to the side (if the head goes right, the kick goes left). the kick of the right leg, if done to the opposite side of the head, will balance the practitioner so he\she doesn't fall over or rise too much.
    Once you learn this part well and you are no longer afraid of kicking with the right leg since you have confidence in the landing (by quickly kicking the right leg back toward the right palm), then, and only then, you can work on the LEFT leg. now you can try and kick it closer and closer to the head.
    The most important part is to overcome the fear of falling by understanding how to kick the right leg in one way and immediately back to the right palm to remain standing and never fall. Then you can work on the form and the aesthetic of the kicking with the left leg.
    The girl in the video kept falling because she is only taught to lift herself. not to land. also she is taught to tilt her chest up, which makes landing even harder. it's good for the form, but this should come way later. It's better and easier to teach to make the move look like one leg is straight to the sky and the second leg is bent with the knee towards the head than the other way around. Just to start learning the move. then comes the part of straightening the bent leg.

    I always wonder how much strength you need for this move. Should you be able to hold a handstand for some time? And is it a good idea to learn the cartwheel first? Or is it not necessary?
    Nice video btw. You are a good teacher. :)

    • @KaioFalcrow
      @KaioFalcrow  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks! :) it doesn’t require much strength, but I would recommend learning cartwheels on both sides to get enough body control to learn it :)

      @@KaioFalcrow Thank you so much! :D Could you do a tutorial on how to do a cartwheel? Or do you maybe have some tips on what prerequisites you need to learn a cartwheel?

      @@adarwinterdror7245 This is really helpful, thank you so much! :) When practicing, I never really knew what to do with the leaping leg, I always paid way more attention to the kicking leg. I will definitely take your advice when I practice this move again.

      Whenever I tought this move in classes (I was a capoeira teacher. Not breakdancing) the other teachers who attended class were at first kinda confused at my method, but once they saw how quickly the new students managed to get this move done, they told me they appreciate the fresh take on how to teach this one.
      I love making up new outside-the-box ways of getting people injur... I mean - succeed.

    In my opinion I think It's dangerous to learn handstand in the ground, I learned it in gymnastic center so basically behind my back there is trampoline and there is flat ground in front of me so I learn it that way
